If anyone else is going for the Homo Faber trophy and didn't know this: you can see what you've crafted by the little check box in the bottom left when you click on an item to craft it. It can be a little wonky when things do or don't register so this was a lifesaver for me.

Got the Plat last night. Absolutely incredible experience, and I was hooked on so many things other games just won't have (like the basic traversal mechanics).

I also thought the story was actually pretty damn good, and a lot of the plot developments towards the end were well-done. In typical Kojima fashion everything was super wordy and took too long of course, but counter to MGS4 and 5 I was very on board with the twists and where the story went.
No but that's good to know, thanks!

So..... No one else is building ziplines?

i tried to build them when I had room for extra PCCs but I found that stashing a few extra motorcycles around were surprisingly fine for getting around the mountains easily, especially since generators are around everywhere in my game. Yeah it's a little slow but not to an insane degree

Once you 5* a delivery point is there any point to continue to take jobs/lost items to it anymore? Other than just going for likes/leveling up? All rewards have been given correct?

Also note that one of the things you have to fabricate requires you to have picked up and delivered a specific memory chip. It is the one that gives you the ability to craft the "Ride" (as in Normand Reedus' show) version of the Reverse Trike.

I didn't know that and was getting pretty teed off being stuck at 71/72 until I gave up and Googled it.

And you likely already know this but you'll have to level up some of the locations in order for them to give you the ability to craft certian things, especially higher levels of things. It can be a time consuming trophy.

You can still get rewards, for example lightwight metals or resins or special alloys (which can be useful for upgrading/repairing stuff) or they continue giving you their unique reward (high capacity blood bags, chiral boots/ladders/anchors, etc)

And you likely already know this but you'll have to level up some of the locations in order for them to give you the ability to craft certian things, especially higher levels of things. It can be a time consuming trophy.

This is true, though if you're going for the Plat you'll be 5*ing everything anyway.

Imo the two annoying things about the Plat are:

Memory chips, specifically how much your scanner sucks finding them even when they're very close. Using a guide makes this moot but still sucks how few you'll find organically.
Delivery Time star point, as you'll likely avoid the majority of time-sensitive missions during the course of the normal game as they're the most stressful type. I had to grind 30-60 when everything else was already 60.

I'm expecting making timed deliveries will take the most time for me. That and finding all the memory chips.

Hey Era! No spoilers please, quick progression Q:

I just made my first delivery to Mountain Knot city, that "anti"-thing, without giving an exact number of chapters left, roughly how far into the game am I?

I beat it.

I really like the gameplay; building roads and ziplines and stuff is really satisfying. I very much did not care for the story; like, at all. The characters are flat, the story wasn't as well-told as it should've, and honestly, with the amount of "holy shit it gets mindbogling crazy in the last couple of chapters", I was expecting a lot more twists and turns. That the giant "twist" in the end is something I called out like a few hours into the game is disappointing. It didn't help that the game failed to make me care about any of the characters.

90% of this game is traversal and getting from point A to point B, and it's disappointing that 100% of the game isn't that.

I think all of the action segments in this game are pretty weak, and none of them actually fit into the game cohesively. The fact that you have to play segments of this game using assault rifles and shotguns to blast away soldiers just feels wrong thematically. This is a game about coming together and working together, and I feel like guns and other weaponry are the opposite of that theme.

6114wno31g141.jpg

This official gunporny poster ultimately feels tasteless. That and the gun show rack in the private room feel totally out of place in this game. Instead of spending time and money crafting poor action elements, they maybe could have a had a much more interesting final delivery challenge instead.

Instead of having a climatic moment in the game that really highlights the game's traversal and meaning of connection, you instead...

Fight a flying oil whale with a rocket launcher as a final boss.

That's just...kinda stupid? That wouldn't feel out of place in every other action game, but Death Stranding isn't like every other action game. In fact, it's not an action game at all at its core. This is probably the most disappointing part of the game for me honestly. I feel like Death Stranding shows that you can make a AAA video game blockbuster without guns or action...except I guess you can't actually?

Just picked this one up yesterday and have put about an hour or so into it. This game is fucking weird man! I like it. The controls are taking me some getting used too tho. Sometimes Sam just starts walking on his own after I stop moving the thumb stick, but I don't have controller drift or anything so I'm assuming it's some sort of gaming mechanic I need to get used too

I think it's just the game's implementation of inertia. Sam can't really stop on a dime, especially if he's got the leaning tower of Pisa on his back and he's clambering down a hill. I find it happens a lot more obviously when he's walking down an incline, and occasionally it can be useful to just steer Sam and trust that he'll keep walking forward on his own.

There's some interesting info on the post game interviews.

So Sam reborn didn't really cause the Death Stranding, it already had happen at that point.

I just beat it and am so happy to be putting it back on the shelf. I had fun some of the time, but was frustrated or just outright bored for the rest. The long slough at the end didn't help my opinion of the game for the better, either.

So i just realized that i have played this game for 45 hours without seeing a single bug aside from the occasional physics jank when forcing the motorcycle to go off-roading, that's pretty damn impressive for such a massive and complex game.

Has anyone here noticed any major bugs?

Yea I said something similar when this image was first posted.

Like, looking at the image you'd think the most important elements had been placed in the foreground and that this is a heavy shooter.

In fact, 95% of what's pictured a as weapon is neither needed nor even wanted in the actual gameplay.

Nothing major really. I've run into 1 or 2 instances of cargo needing to be redeployed because the game ate them, either on save reload or just some other weirdness. Also had like 1 hard crash, but that was because I hit an object in the game with a truck, and I think the physics engine bugged out. Outside of those rare instances, this game, and the Decima engine, seem very stable.

Got four trophies left: all memory chips
fully upgrade all structures (only watchtower left)
five star everyone (only 3 left)
and fabricate all weapons and equipment

Is there an in-game checklist for that last one?

Also here's my review for anyone interested:

There's probably a checklist somewhere, and I'm assuming you're using a map to find all of the memory chips.

Two bits of advice about Homo Faber:

You need memory stick #31 to have the blueprint to make the last vehicle. Enjoy your 4th wall break.
It's best to complete the Peter Englert prepper missions, as you will get 4 blueprints (Higgs Custom) from him in the process of getting 5 stars.

Make sure you make and deploy every piece of cargo at least once, just in case (including vehicles). Also make sure to ride the last trike for some groan-worthy 4th wall breaking dialog.

I think I have all of the stuff you mention, but will double check I have number 31.

A lot of people have the same problem when starting the game. Go to the settings and make the stick dead zone a little higher (at 2), that solved the drifting problem for me. And no, it's not a game mechanic.

#31 is the one you get by the large waterfall at the south-end of the map. But of course you'll know you have it by looking at your memory chip chart, and because you can fab the Custom "Ride" Trike.

Well chapter 5...

Spoilers, I think I'm nearing the end of this chapter.

And I was so happy with reaching the foot of the mountain, ugh. So I have to get Mama there. Looking into what I have available and thinking of traversal... have to make a difficult choice.

(I know I have to fight a BT first though; guess time to fabricate some stuff)

If I take the scenic route, I will have to take the long way with one BT encounter and sneaking past two Mule/Militia camps. Final part of the jog is easy.

Or I can take a bit shorter route; I have the power skeleton which can make me walk faster through snow. However there will be two BT encounters and lots of snow. What to do...

I absolutely hated the combat in this game and loved the courier parts. Conversely I couldn't get enough of the combat in MGSV.

I took the mountain path, because I was struggling with the controls in the BT fight and Mama ended up taking a lot of damage. I was worried about her catching a stray bullet going through the terrorist camp.
Honestly, I think it might be about the same, time-wise. At least for me, going over the mountain with her took FOREVER. And she died a few times when Sam fell and used Mama as an improvised toboggon.

Games becoming a lot lroemfun for me now I've got
the exoskeleton legs. Much fast pace and less worrying about tilting left and right unless I'm really heavily loaded.
.

Question though, when a BT catches me (as it just has done)
does it always go into a monster hunter-esque fight? I was expecting to just get dragged to my death immediately.

Just wait, there are more traversal surprises in store.

As for BTs, if you don't shake them off, yes, it will always go into a mini-boss fight, except for one very notable exception
If you get caught by a BT in an area you already got caught in and caused a voidout, special gold BTs will attack you, and it's an automatic game over if you can't break free. Can't cause more than one voidout in a particular area.

No, the standard orders recycle after a while. You'll also hit a wall for progressing your various levels if you keep redoing them.

Your next mission will advance the story, you should probably think about doing that soon. Don't worry, you have plenty more of the UCA to explore.
