I wasn't throwing shade at Sanders but the progressive movement as a whole. We don't put in the necessary work at a local and state level. We struggle to get donations/volunteers for local races but celebrity status people rake it in. The model for social change starts with transforming local/state governments and congress with a wave of progressive young people running for office but too often people like AOC turn out to be extreme outliers and nobody wants to follow in their foosteps. And this is despite being in a new political landscape where big money and entrenched political organizations matter very little. The political/economic barrier to entry for people like us to actually run and win is the lowest it has ever been in America.

We post, but we don't participate.

The year is 2021, the new president of the United States has been inaugurated and in office for 4 months.

Elizabeth Warren still hasn’t ended her 2020 democratic primary campaign
That scene from Black Panther but Warren is the one coming back to challenge Killmonger

Are you missing the point where Bernie has to get these laws enacted and would require massive shifts in the US Congress to achieve just about any of them? The idea that Sanders would come into office and magically we were going to pass his entire agenda is naive and borderline dangerous. Biden has plans to address these issues as well—a public option and forcing Medicaid expansion is more likely to pass Congress and will help millions of people.

I find it interesting the Sanders is “not me, us”, but his supporters seem to think “only him”.
Do you know why some supporters think tha
We forget that just 12 years ago we had the first African American President? That we took the first steps in changing healthcare in this country? That we finally got Marriage Equality.. In the US of A?

Change takes fucking time in a country. You can't flip a switch and everything is what you want. You have to keep fighting, life ain't easy and change doesn't come easy or fast. It takes time, hard work and perseverance.
Change doesn't happen fast because in these primaries, people are voting for conservative losers like Joe Biden.

I undestand what you're saying. That things take time to change and you can't flip a switch. I get that. But that doesn't excuse the despicable behavior of constantly voting for conservative bigots for the democrat nomination. More democrats needs to be saying "fuck joe biden".That shit is important. Marco Rubio is probably better than Trump. That doesn't make him less of a piece of shit. The same applies to Biden. No half-measures.

Oh wonderful the first African American president that was attacked by millions of people for not being a real American because he was black. Yeah I'm really proud of my country that can't even impeach a president for committing tons of impeachable offenses.

I will continue to vote for progressive candidates but I can't and won't accept people mocking me for having optimism for voting for a candidate that wants to do the most good for the poorest people in this country.
Sadly thats the country we live in. Its still very fucking divided. Usually the loudest voices are those of the minority. Obama enjoyed like a 60% approval rating when he was leaving office.

Whos mocking you though?

would honestly recommend sitting out the general, even if you plan to vote. its not gonna be good for anyone's mental health to watch two old geezers argue about the future of this country.

As a non American can I ask who is allowed to vote in these primaries? Since it seems people are freaking out about Biden comeback, could it be Republicans going and voting him to ensure a weak contender against trump?

This is also a large problem, and I definitely agree with this. We have made inroads with cities, but its tough work.

Yes, Bernie, keep slinging dirt at the man who will probably be the Democratic nominee.

So that when you eventually endorse him, it’ll seem soooo genuine.

Who would Bernie pick for VP?

Do Corey booker and Biden get along?
Yeah, Booker would be a good choice for both frontrunners, he's friends with Bernie and is basically the author of Bernie criminal justice reforms so it could be seen as an olive branch. Still, Booker hasn't endorsed Biden or anything, has he?

Pretty sure 2016 taught us that "lesser of two evils" and " Vote for me, at least I'm not Trump" isnt going to be enough to get us over the finish line. If Biden manages to screw it up like Hillary did, I dont want to read anymore guilt-tripping comments towards progressives again. The moderates have had plenty of chances now, they better deliver. I'll stifle my vomit long enough to vote for Biden in November if it comes to that, but this is the last time I'll settle for a right wing Democrat.
No candidate runs a campaign on "I'm the lesser of two evils". If you see those quotes out there, its from people who don't like the candidate. They're actively shooting their "candidate" in the foot by doing it. "I'm voting for Jim but I think he's a slimeball" just isn't a great message to win elections with. If people actually want Trump out, they'll have to get onboard whatever train wins and be enthusiastic about it, even if that means faking it.

What kind of magical socialist power do you think Bernie would have that would prevent the same thing from happening to him?
Bernie doesn't botch what office he's running for, a mysterious mystical other Biden in the campaign, and botches what the ideals of America are as "knowing the thing."

One can argue if his brand of populism can get the job done if given the space, but the edge he has over Biden is consistency and that can exist within rhetoric. We're now going to have a candidate who has a history of being everything thrown at Hillary Clinton but real, the single person in this race who was uniquely wrong about everything that mattered in the last 40 years, and we expect him to beat a lying con man who doesn't turn to dust in front of a camera? The entire Biden argument now is one where everything is on the defensive, because he's been so wrong and is so bad. That doesn't survive a con man.

For six of the eight years he was VP, the Republican party obstructed everything they wanted to. This is the "normal" Biden wants to bring us back to.
Bernie has gone on the record saying that he would not support repealing the filibuster.

So basically, nothing any candidate is selling is possible.

Change will take time when "your side" is paid not to fight for you. Both parties are down with the legalized corruption in the country, which stalls a lot of shit for anyone whose not rich, white, and able bodied.

As much hate Hillary got and she made some campaign errors, such as taking the so called Blue Wall for granted, she is still the most successful female Presidential nominee by miles. Only the EC doomed her and by small margins.

Registered dems in most states, a few have open primaries where anyone can vote regardless of party preference. It's possible some republicans voted for him for that reason, but not at any meaningful numbers to make a difference.
