It's touch because it's a reference to how hikers observe the ground and dirt and trees to track things or find their way back
Inosuke's skin sensitivity has been brought up a ton of times. Hell, it led Tanjirou to remember his father's teaching about the See Through World.

Chapter 185: The world without any scent
Nezuko's father calls out to her while she was sound asleep.
"Nezuko wake up, Tanjirou is in danger."
Nezuko immediately woke up with surprised expression. Urokodaki was surprised as well. "What's wrong, Nezuko?" he asked.
The Sound Pillar and Flame Pillar's father was surprised by the noise.
They see Urokodaki is chasing after Nezuko who is running.
Flame Pillar's Dad: Oyakata-sama, the demon girl has left. What would you have us do?"
Kiriya: It can't be that she's being manipulated by Muzan right now? But if she truly did revert back to a human? No, if that's the case, then Urokodaki should be able to catch up to her.
Kiriya is trying to stop Nezuko up ahead, and hears Oyakata-sama's voice. "Let Nezuko do what wants. I'll be alright"
The younger sister is impatient, but as Kiriya cries, he tells them that their father says to allow Nezuko do what she wants.
The illusion of her father guides her to the destination. Nezuko runs and jumps from high cliffs to her brother.
Meanwhile, Tanjirou has collapsed. 3 Pillars receive slashes from Muzan.
Muzan: "So you can still move? The Pillars that are marked won't die so easily"
A slash attacks the Love Pillar but an iron-ball protects her.
Rock Pillar "I'm sorry I'm late"
Wind Pillar cuts Muzan from behind while he was distracted by the Rock Pillar.
Muzan turns his back and they throw multiple bottles filled with oil towards him that combust into flames.
Wind Pillar: "This amount is good enough for shit like you. I'll kill you, you piece of trash fucker."
At the sight of the Pillars fighting Muzan mercilessly, Murata goes to attack but is called out by the Water Pillar.
Water Pillar: "Tanjirou can't move! Bring him to a safer location for me, please!"
Murata is impressed that the Water Pillar remembers his name and carries Tanjirou on his shoulder.
Tanjirou is in his consciousness.
Tanjirou: Huh? There's no smell at all here.

No spoiler pic, but new info on the anime...TV season 2, since I thought it would be about the film version.
And Water pillar remember Murata isn't suprising, since it was Murata that took care of him after the final selection arc
