I dont think OP's intention was to debate whether MT were decently added or whether they make the game any better or not. I guess there's plenty of space for that kind of debate somewhere, honestly, mostly because PD's implementation don't seem inherently bad or game breaking.

The thing is, OP's point is that the developer lied, pure and simple. Anytime we are led to believe something and later on the stance changes , it smells of bad faith. Maybe PD wasn't thinking of adding MT during development, but a hard 'no" for an answer is a pretty straight stance. I honestly think it's a pretty justifiable reason for a refund. Anyway, that's what I got from OP.

Also, treating GTS as the perfect case for dlc done right is disingenuous. Game was released with a fifth of the previous game content for the same price.

If they knew when Kaz made that statement then yes, it’s s lie.

If I tell you I’ll do something then change my mind at a later date, I don’t consider that a lie, nor would I consider someone else changing their mind about something to be a lie.

A broken promise isn’t the same as a lie.
Right, that's a good one. Next time someone accusing me of a lie when I break a promise to them, I will just say that it is simply the matter of me changing my mind.

We already had damn huge reaction over amiibo lock content over here or even on old forum.

So rather than derailing to other stuff to protecc ur beloved GTS, how about we just talked about PD licking their own spit here?

Or you want to shift to Konami again this time lol as thats what you use to do?
You know what's funny? As a huge Nintendo fan, you even wasn't interested in GT games before. You posting here only because of controversy. Same applies to OP and some other folks here.

I support MTs in games but they unequivocally lied. Sony really needs to have more oversight over PD though, just a string of questionable decisions coming out of them.

The entire progression system in Forza 7 was designed around them. Do you think they just made the progression suck for fun? The only reason they didn’t implement them was because Battlefront 2 came out soon after and the loot boxes were a PR nightmare.
This is just an outright lie. There is no shortage of credits being handed out in Forza 7, they just took away the increase/decrease in how much you earn based on assists and made it difficulty based. It's been shown in some of the other threads about this that the same race earns more credits on Forza 7 than it does on Forza 6 with assists off. I've pretty much finished the career in Forza 7 and haven't bought a single loot box other than in the tutorial. I didn't struggle for money or have to grind.

How about you don't attack a game that you don't like just so you can defend one you do like?

I’m also talking about the tiers system for cars. Many people hated it. There was no reason to make that change.

Ah ha! That's where EA did wrong, I guess: No option to turn off the option to choose microtransaction. Sony's still the good guy here, if just by a hairline. Phew! [/s]

Now after it is found out how transparent on you trying to derail the topic, you go on trying to post policing me?

This is a open forum. We gamer can comment on whatever topic we feel is interesting to us. Are you seriously believing that all those comment on some controversy lets said Mobile games actually played those games? Give me a break.

So again. Rather than come in here trying to derail with your usual shit. Why not try arguing in good faith on the current topic if this can set a bad predicament if we allow this kind of things to go pass just like that? Or you dont even care and just want to keep derailing?

This might not be what you are looking for but they talk about it on the PlayStation Blog which is as official as you are going to get:

https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2018/07/30/gran-turismo-sport-adds-new-cars-new-tracks-new-league-events-and-more-in-its-huge-july-update/

This is before talking about any of the new vehicles or tracks:

While there are many car enthusiasts young and old among Gran Turismo’s players, there are many who don’t have enough time to play and save the in-game credits needed to acquire their favourite cars.

By making cars immediately available to purchase as DLC, we hope to make it so that players busy with work (or those who’ve just entered the world of GT) can acquire attractive and competitive cars quickly, and take their position on the starting grid.

However, to keep things fair and balanced for our existing players, all cars can still be purchased with in-game credits as before; meaning there are no cars that are only available for cash, and nothing will change in the way you currently earn cars, or the present car system.

Furthermore, GT Sport’s priciest vehicles can only be bought with the in-game currency – meaning drivers will still have to prove their ability and effort out on the track to acquire the very best cars on offer.
This all seems very reasonable. Use it if you can't play often due to responsibilities, but realize that you have to put in the time to get the best cars which are only available with in-game currency. This wouldn't affect me whatsoever.

I am outraged, I bought the game in good faith that there will be NO MTX and adding MTX has hindered my enjoyment of the game, I want a refund!.. Well the game plays the same BUT still you LIED! It hurts to play the game when all I think about are your lies! :p

Lol this is as clear cut as it gets. They said they would not do A, in the end they do A.

They lied.

As simple as that. No matter what anyone would say, the *undisputed* fact is that they lied. Period. End of story.
That isn’t the full picture. As gamers we should want the best deal not rigidly lock devs down.

PD modified their post launch support to offer GT Sport players a better deal. Pre-launch no one was expecting free post launch content. At least not past the launch window. We’re now 7-8 updates down the line with another year planned.

It’s been the most comprehensive, consumer friendly, post launch support, this generation.

Yes, I see that. You're definitely "a gamer". Your "console warrior" posts only proves that.
So because he's biased he can't post that MTX are shit, if he feels that way?

It doesn't even matter how intrusive they are in this case. There are people who hate any type of MTX and are pissed when they read about people defending them. He only plays Nintendo, so fucking what? Am I not allowed to post in general Xbox topics now, just because I mainly play on PS4?

Kaz lied, that for fucking sure is fact. And people don't like that, no matter the level of intrusion. I played over 60hrs of GTS and still think that the "change of mind" is shitty, even if the MTX don't bother that much. It's just disingenuous towards the customers.

Sure. Your post policing, name calling, thread derailing is even better proof that you had zero thing to talk except being fanboy to protect your favorite company lol.

It is useless to talk this thing to that guy who is famous for thread derailing lol. He already try to derail other thread when someone is talking about other things that he dont like.

I have litteraly said in the previous post on how consumer should not be lied on as that can set bad precedent. What did he post? Amiibo lol.

Well, not everyone agrees on this, especially considering the opinion that the game launches with a pitiful amount of content is something that is shared by many of its players. And yes, they lied. This is the 'full picture', I don't understand why it is such a hard thing to accept when the case is as blatant and clear cut as this.

Also, eh, this is my personal opinion only but I can think of games with more 'comprehensive' post launch support this gen, for example what Ubisoft has done for The Division.

They should be more careful not to talk big back then, only to reverse course in the end. That looks bad no matter how you slice it.

Let's just hope that developers lying to their customers is not becoming a trend anytime soon.
I agree, it's shitty to go back on your word, but also honestly believe they spoke sincerely at the time. Unfortunately, they are beholden to shareholders and external business pressures. At the end of the day, they must comply with what they're told to do if things don't to according to plan. Not every company can have full autonomy, and in this case this is actually a smart business decision.

Well apparently the game sold huge numbers, with more than 5 million players playing it.

Which I guess, can make Microtransactions both unnecessary or necessary, depending on how you view things.

No effect on the game? Doesn't the dev's comment on the ps blog go against that?

Pay attention to the bolded portion. Competitive. What does that mean if you're not given an advantage?
I’ve already corrected you on spreading this misinformation earlier in the thread.

In GT Sport you start with zero cars. You need to earn credits to buy (or win) them to compete in each Sport mode class. Every car in their class is theoretically equally competitive as they are subject to BoP that’s adjusted regularly.

Once again it’s clear many posting in this thread aren’t even aware of the basics of how GT Sport works. Let alone the complexities of post launch support.

Fuckin lol where can you buy progression in Forza 7 with real money? Ill wait.

"The real money mtx in GTS is better implemented than the imaginary mtx that cant be bought in Forza 7!!!"

Seriously cant make this shit up haha
Is that why they made a big deal out of removing their Loot Boxes?

Why remove something if the community is fine with it.

Edit:

I never said real money. MT's can also be with in-game credits to get the loot boxes. That's what I meant.

Weird - normally games get microtransactions removed and not added later. Wonder why they did this. Do they need more money?

I hate this in all games though.

It's like in say a fighter having all the characters unlocked vs having to unlock them. Just give me the fighters since I paid 60 bones and let me have fun.

Don't wall off content just cause I can't play as much due to my adult responsibilities.

I have no idea whether the community was for/against the challenge loot boxes, but you still can't buy them with MTX (not that I'd care either way).

If you wanted to do this should've released a F2P version with purchasable cars.

No way PD gets anywhere near their usual budget for the next Gran Turismo if they're resorting to this. Time for the PD team to come up with new ideas.

You still bought the loot boxes with MTs using in-game credits, but not real money.

I see what the other comment was saying now. I never said real money.

I agree, and it's easy to notice that fans of the other console came out of the woodwork to post here to score points that much is obvious.

I also think the OP wouldn't even care about this update to GT sport knowing his post history, yet here we are...

Sony needs to rein in PD a bit. Feels like the studio has lost its way after being untouchable for several decades.
I think one of Polyphony's issues is that they are too small for the game they wanna make. I know they have two offices now, but still, they aren't that big as many people think.
so you follow because of why? we can derail this thread or take it to PM, I dont care. but yes. its KARMA!

edit: We can cont. it here. I'm ready,

It will be interesting to see how they handle this in regards to the price of future "free updates". Them going back on the no MTs as well as the precedent other titles in similiar positions like GTA Online have set, don't leave me with much confidence.

Ya, you seem pretty quick to defend someone who doesn't even play the game and try very hard to cling to a righteous position just so he/she can pile on this issue. The least they can do is do some research on how the game works so there's a level of understanding before everyone try to one-up each other . Developer lie = bad and developer lie = outrage is just lazy and create toxic environment when it's like this.

Quite the opposite actually.
They should just charge for all the DLC. I am sure people would like that more
The only ones outraged don't play the game or don't really understand how the game works. This is a non issue being piled on by disingenuous posters, for the most part. The game is right up there with F1 2017 as one of the best console racers this gen and being able to unlock cars with money changes nothing.

What does the tier system have to do with anything? How was that based around the micro-transactions that never happened?

This is absolutely not true. Many, many GaaS games have offered far more content for free, with paid options that don't affect anyone that doesn't want to buy them, while also launching with far more content.

Oh believe me, if for every game only people who actually play it or the ones who have a strong interest in doing so, this place would be completely different.

not sure what the uproar is about (i actually do know - console warsz!!!) but no content has been locked behind paywall; merely a different manner in which to collect cars. so no biggie at all, regardless of whether this was ms, nintendo or sony. when there is a legit, non-paying option, then there is no issue

Oct 31, 2017

None of this content is hidden behind a paywall and it’s easy to get cars already through free car awards with daily challenges and the easy money from doing races. I haven’t spent a dime in GT Sport and I never will since I already own 99% of the cars released in the game. I have no problem with them being microtransactions as long as they don’t turn into pay to win in the future and are not intrusive. So far there are no signs these microtransactions will ever be intrusive or P2W.
