Why is the OT up early?

Given the fragmented roll out of Destiny 2 Forsaken and it's associated patches, Patch 2.0.0 + 2.0.1 and the early release/demo of D2F's new PvPvE Mode Gambit on the 1st of September I requested special permission from the Admins to get the OT up early so everyone can join in. Cerium and I'm sure the rest of the Admins graciously agreed so here we are.

Timeline of Events & Patch 2.0.0

As mentioned previously D2F has some what of a staggered launch.

Weapons
Developer Insight: With Forsaken, we've made a major change to the systems—the freedom to slot powerful weapons in either the Kinetic slot or Energy slot. This fundamental change necessitated a fresh look at a player's damage output in both PvE and PvP.

  • Primary ammo weapons and Special ammo weapons may exist in either the Kinetic or Energy slot.
  • Heavy ammo weapons can exist only in the Power slot.
  • Ammo type and damage type are now fixed attributes of a specific weapon.
  • Ammo distribution models updated entirely to support weapon slot changes.
  • Energy weapons no longer deal bonus damage to active enemy Supers.

Ammo Economy

  • The Frigid Jackal
  • Silicon Neuroma

The following Year 1 weapons are now locked to Solar damage

  • IKELOS_SG_V1.0.1
The following Exotic weapons did not change slot and still use Heavy ammo
  • Tractor Cannon
  • The Legend of Acrius
  • D.A.R.C.I.
  • Whisper of the Worm

Developer Insight: The tuning of Destiny weapons and abilities is inexorably tied to the systems that we build upon. Ultimately our goal is to still provide gameplay challenge despite a global increase in player damage output due to the new systems introduced. To properly support the higher uptime of Shotguns, Snipers, and Fusions, the following changes were made to all weapons in the game.

Roadmap & Season 4

Alongside both Destiny 2 Forsaken and Patch 2.0.0(1) is Season 4. We don't have a full list of details regarding season 4 just yet but we do know a few changes coming our way. Trials is going back to R&D for season 4 and Iron Banner is returning to it's D1 roots with power being crucial to both Damage and Defence again.

Season 4 also sees the introduction of Gear Collections and Lore in to Destiny 2 for All Players.

Something's available to everyone some things will be only available to Forsaken and/or annual pass owners.

dev_roadmap_07_25_18.jpg

06072018_Annual_Pass.jpg

Annual Pass

The Annual pass seems to be causing some confusion. In Short it's 3 DLC drops with less focus on Story than traditional Destiny DLC (Warmind) and more focus on giving players playable, replayable and worthwhile content. This means more events like Escalation Protocol and Raid Lairs, more secret quests like Whisper of the Wrom and overall just more things to do.

Annual Pass is 3 premium content releases

Black Armory (Winter 2018)
Joker's Wild (Spring 2019)
Penumbra (Summer 2019)

New Pinnacle Activites (Escalation Protocol)
New Weapons and Armor
New and Returning Exotics
New Endgame Challenges
New Raid Lairs
New Vanity Rewards
Bonus Seasonal Rewards
New Triumphs to Earn
New Lore to Discover

Seasonal events (listed below) and Seasonal rewards will be available to ALL PLAYERS

Iron Banner
Trials of the Nine (in R&D for Season 4)
Faction Rally
Festival of the Lost
The Dawning
Solstice of Heroes
Sparrow Racing League
Crimson Days
Armsday

Final Words

Destiny 2 has had a turbulent first year sadly, At times the community has been frustrated to their end with the game and at times we have had some genuinely amazing experiences, content updates and gameplay overhauls. Right now, Destiny 2 is in a pretty solid place. Warmind was the kick into gear that Destiny 2 needed and while in and of itself it wasn't anything ground breaking it served as a culmination point for many of the previous patches to be showcased to their fullest. Shortly after we got the surprise drop of Whisper of the Worm which reinvigorated the player base and Solstice of Heroes that satiated a grind players had been hungry for.

Across the Communities anticipation for Forsaken seems very high, It solves many of the major vocal concerns with the game and delivers content for virtually every type of Destiny player. In addition it looks to be the biggest expansion in the franchises history and from the get go establishes high stakes.

As a community we know Destiny 2 isn't Era's favourite game and we are fully anticipating heavy doses of Spicy hot takes and sodium. If possible I'd like to suggest posters prior to posting just think to them selves "does this comment add anything to a discussion or will it just derail a thread"

If you want to be part of the community I mentioned in the first post we have multiple clans, a very active discord with players on all platforms which you can join by tagging Ruthless and a frequent first page thread in Era's communities section.

What to do Before Forsaken

Thanks to Ruthless
Forsaken Pre-Patch Prep PSA (FP4):

1. Mods - Buy blue mods for glimmer from gunsmith, combine 3x to purple. Dismantle purple mods now, or after patch for Mod components. DO NOT discard mod components by mistake.
2. Postmaster - Weapon slot changes will shuffle guns in your inventory, and if there is insufficient space, they will go to your postmaster. To be safe and not lose items, clear postmaster, or put most of your guns in the vault.
3. Item managers will not work for sometime after the patch, so either put your most used arsenal in the vault, or on the character you will be using right away after the patch.
4. Bounties - completed bounties don't expire, and provide a small amount of XP when you turn them in. If you haven't already, complete vanguard and crucible bounties that refresh everyday and keep them till Forsaken comes out.
5. Elements on energy and power weapons will get locked - change them before the patch or they will be locked to the current element. Use blue mods if you don't have (or don't want to waste) purple mods.
6. The +5PL from mods will be irrelevant post patch. Your gear will likely drop in PL (if you're 405, you'll be 400). DO NOT PANIC, this is intended.
7. Gift of Tokens - any vanguard gift of tokens you may be holding can be efficiently turned in for more than normal token rewards. With a NF emblem that has threshold score, a ghost that awards chance at extra faction tokens and loaded into a NF/strike corresponding to that emblem, the gifts can be redeemed for 6 to 9 tokens instead of the usual 5.
8. Save your vanguard and crucible tokens - unless you need something from the current pool, no point spending them. Get rid of Ikora tokens as they will be retired post patch.
9. Planetary mats will be required to infuse gear, so save them and if you go past some during patrol, take the time to pick them up :)
10. Collections will disabled for a week, between the patch and Forsaken launch. Your vault will still be available - just not the collections part of it. If you need to pick up some exotics or emblems, do that pre patch.
11. Gunsmith mats - If you are low on mats, but have an abundance of legendary shards - buy exotics from collection and dismantle them. 10 shards convert to 5 shards back and gunsmith mats.
12. Existing mods in Y1 armor will cease working post patch. You will be able to apply Y2 mods to Y1 armor once Forsaken is released.
13. SoH expires at reset - finish up any non MW stuff and triumphs!
14. Join the ERA Destiny discord. DM me for an invite.
15. If you haven't already, BUY FORSAKEN!

Notes and Updates:

forsaken_post_launch_infographic.jpg

There's been a few major leaks of Destiny 2 Forsaken Info from well recognised data miners. I didn't touch on them due to their heavy spoilers. If people do discuss them I'd like to request you do so with VERY visible marked spoilers.

In addition keeping the topic spoiler tagged out of respect for others after launch for a while would be nice.

On Tuesday, September 4:

  • 7:30 AM PDT: Destiny 2 will be taken offline for maintenance, and all remaining players will be returned to the title screen.
  • 7:30–10:00 AM PDT: Destiny 2 will remain offline for maintenance.
  • 10:00 AM PDT: Destiny 2 maintenance is expected to conclude, and Destiny 2: Forsaken will become available to play on all platforms.

Maybe I'm stupid but I've read the weapon change description a few times and I still don't get what the change is. It will probably make sense when I try it.

Still GPU-less and wondering if I migrate D2 to PS4 until the 2060 comes out. If I don't, I hope you guardians enjoy yourselves!

edit: Not really migrate (cause you can't), but you know what I mean.

Really looking forward to Forsaken, hopefully it does to Destiny 2 what The Taken King did for Destiny 1.

Great OT! Can't wait for the 4th.

The Xbox side of the discord is small but we are very welcoming and stuff tends to be going on all the time. There should be some spots open In The Xbox era clan as well.

Probably the most excited ive ever been for a piece of destiny content. Not exactly a high bar but very much looking forward to Forsaken and the dreaming city. Looks like it has a lot to offer and might end up being the best bit of Destiny yet.

I hope its good. I don't want to jump into it immediately after playing Destiny at PC launch so I'm going to wait for impressions and make sure Bungie doesn't do anything stupid this time. Those new sub classes look like fun though.
