I'll have no doubt forgotten way too many people so I'm sorry.

The series has highs and lows and the community has ebbed and flowed between sweet and salty but I think we all agree that there's something that keeps us coming back and the current trajectory is overall positive. Season of the Hunt was a very mixed bag but it laid out some strong ground work for the future.

I used to add a message to these OT's as a suggestion to posters to think prior to posting as to not derail threads with hot takes about how bad X or Y is/was but I'll mostly forgo that this time.

2020 fucking sucked, Destiny and games as a whole have provided a much needed escape and distraction for many of us, there's lots of anticipation for something new to sink our teeth into. If you don't like something then find something better to do with your time than moan about how much you don't like it. Let people have their fun it's the smallest bit of empathy and respect you can pay someone. Be better to each other and the world will be better it's simple.

Our community here is fantastic and I want to thank you all, ResetEra as a whole, DestinyEra and the Discord community. Which is a perfect time to mention again that the DestinyEra discord is well moderator, safe and welcoming community and you can join by tagging or messaging @Ruthless for an invite.

Hopefully with the new streamlined Destiny experience some more New Lighters will join our ranks. Everyone is welcome for space schlooter fun. If you're reading this and on the fence, just jump in. It's free. The worst thing that can happen is a few wasted hours but the buttery smooth gunplay and best in class GAAS is at least worth trying.

Finally I'd like to say another Thank You to everyone, I'm a very absentee poster in these OT's sorry about that but the majority of the time I look in everyone is helpful and welcoming and that's AWESOME.

I did actually quit making the Destiny OT's last OT but I guess we needed a new one. Thankfully life has gotten a lot less busy lately so with that.

Dawn of a new season is always exciting. Hoping this season isn't a dud. Bungie has been hit or miss with every other season so far.

Great OT, Season of The Chosen was pretty great.
Presage and Battlegrounds are both superb additions to the game.

Here is hoping Season of The Splicer is good and that VOG has not been ruined

Between Ikora, 6-man matchmaking activity, Mithrax (his voice is so sexy) and baby Fallen, this might be the first time I'm going to get the Season Pass.

Also anyone that kill Mithrax back in Y1 should not be allowed to experience the Season Pass. Imagine seeing Fallen Captain and Hive Knight fighting and you decide to kill the Captain first.

Got back into Destiny over the weekend, hadn't played much since the expansion came out. Just hit 1250 yesterday, so i'm all ready for the new season. Being able to play via xcloud on my pc, or my phone has been a huge benefit to me.

OK, to elaborate before I get banned by overzealous mods again: Bungie claimed that Lighthouse loot was subject to bad luck protection. Meaning that the more you go flawless, the better your chance to get the drops would be. Which brings us to the ponder: exactly how many runs does one need to hit 100% drop rate? Most casual players go flawless once or twice per season, if at all. You hit 90+. How much more could you have done? 200? 500? Clearly the bad luck protection is either busted or built using numbers that make no sense. And not everybody is supposed to be a streamer who plays this game 24/7.

Other than that, good work on the OT Stalker. Needs more sanics though.

Would you recommend us to start with Forsaken or get into Beyond Light right away?

Not sure how long we're gonna stick with it & we're just looking for some entertaining shooting experience.

Really hope Bungo can nail 2 decent seasons in a row. It took me all of Chosen to convince my fireteam to come back, I don't want them to bail again.

Is transmog still as it was announced, and do we have a rough idea of how long it will take to make a single set?

It's still as it was announced, as is the absolutely insane price increase on Eververse shaders from 40 to 300.

Since VoG is a returning raid it should have matchmaking.

The challenges and hard modes they can turn it off for. But my time is limited and I want to run it on the fly.

Season of the Chosen was pretty good, but I'm currently a bit burned out from playing the game fairly heavily since Arrivals.

I think I'm just going to stick to completing all PvE story missions, getting any new exotics and completing the triumphs for the season's seal, but I'm not really going to bother chasing most triumphs or seasonal challenges anymore, I don't care about Eververse and I'm sitting on like 70k bright dust so I'd rather spend my time in other games instead of grinding for marginally better drops of weapons and drop lores that I can easily access outside the game. And don't get me started on the absurd grind required for Armor Synthesis...

Will definitely run VoG a few times, though!

I'm hoping Battlegrounds and the new activity(if it's good) stays after Beyond Light. Killing huge waves of Cabals is fun and seeing someone(or myself) get killed by a Cabal dropped pod 3 times in the same match is always hilarious.

Their reasoning is that shaders are no longer consumables but instead permanent unlocks. Of course, that makes literally no sense.

Once you bought a shader with Bright Dust from Eververse, you never have to spend Bright Dust on that shader again. While it was a consumable, you can pull duplicates out of the Collections tab for 500 Glimmer + 2 Legendary Shards.

It's almost insulting that they thought that reason would make any sense whatsoever.

They seem to be stuck in this mentality that anything beneficial to the player must be painful.


Why? It's cosmetic and has no bearing on gameplay.

Getting ready to jump back in, but my characters are still in that 1230-1250 neighborhood. With the item level cap only going up to 1310/1320, has there been any talk about power-level catch-up mechanics or how high the soft cap will be going in Season of the Splicer?

Exactly. Effectively, shaders have been permanent unlocks for a while, and they know this. It's obviously just a way to increase bright dust purchases.

If they need to generate more revenue, surely there are better ways than this...

On paper, their logic is that there are less and less shaders being sold through EV, and the previous price point makes almost no dent in the player's dust budget. But the price increase is still excessive, there is no reason why it could not have been a round 100 dust instead.

What very few players have paid attention to is the fact that EV has slowly been skewing itself toward more Silver-only items, while at the same time dust sources are being reduced. And given that most EV items cost 1000+ or 4000+ dust per pop, the notion of "you can afford everything for dust if you spend enough time" becomes laughable.

Oh, we did notice.

In order to preserve my bright dust, I had to choose only one class Guardian Games armour ornament set - Hunter, the worst of all classes.

Time was, you would play the game to earn these sets, it would be time-consuming but it would be the reward.

More and more the best looking stuff requires actual or in game currency and the actual game is bypassed.

For some reason I feel that something is going to happen where the community blows their lid over some silly things Bungie does this season. Last season was pretty good, I'm expecting a correction somewhere...

Eververse is the only logic they need to pull this shit off.

I'm kind of stuck between a burn-out and outright "I quit Destiny" phase, all after the absolute idiocy that was the Transmog TWAB, and I don't even care that much about Fashion Destiny. That shit drove me over the edge. They just keep pulling that shit off and expect us to forgive, forget and keep grinding. Fuck that.

I'll probably end up trying out the season anyway if only to keep a buddy of mine company, but god damn that left an irreversibly sour note in my mouth.

i was able to finish the season challenges last night, and get gilded dredgen. i wish it carried over but at least i got to enjoy it for 15 minutes
