He essentially got banned for either boss farming, chest farming, or using a storm ult glitch (which he forwarded to the devs on twitter) thats existed in the game since beta.

These farming routes have existed forever in games such as Diablo, Destiny, and tons of other MMOs. Being banned for playing the game efficiently is pretty harsh.

Not to mention..banned in a game thats purely PVE with no economy or PVP.

The top comment on youtube pretty much sums it up:

"Uses exploit in anthem - FOREVER BANNED
Uses exploit in destiny - bungie laughs, fixes it and makes it a meme Easter egg "

This is ridiculous. There is always a certain type of player that will always play your PVE loot game in the most efficient way possible, no matter how grindy or silly it is. If you put loot mechanics that are exploitable in your game, expect players to exploit them. Bans should only be for players that are harming the experience of other players.

EA/Bioware has no idea how to deal with this kind of game. This is amazing.

"economy exploitation" in a game where there's no PvP or trading. The horror.

That's pretty stupid, is it now a thing to ban people who play your game? We had news like that from a f76 player not so long ago...

This is all sorts of dumb, there was no reason for the ban especially if it was just boss farming or chest farming in a game where there's no PVP. And the ban being "economy exploitation" where there's no PVP, makes no fucking sense. Just patch the game and make the fix so it can't be done anymore if you're so pressed as a company that others will follow these methods that you don't want to exist.

Everything I hear from Anthem sounds like they have no idea how to handle a looter shooter. They should have paid attention to their environment, it really sounds like they went into this genre completely blind.

He's got form, if he and his clan mates never exploited the prime engram shit in Destiny 2 his clan would have never finished the last wish raid first.

EA make exploitative GaaS titles and BioWare make SP RPGs, so its no surprise they're making these kind of rookie/stupid mistakes

Gladd is the best Destiny streamer IMO...

I find it supremely silly to ban people for "exploits" in a PVE only game, especially since every streamer I saw playing the game was using the Storm ult bug as well as farming whatever was most efficient.

This after the Fallout 76 ban on that one player because he had accumulated too much ammo, yikes.

When Bungo fixed the loot cave exploit in D1 (a game with PVP) they simply laughed it off because it was funny. But Bioware gets their panties in a twist when it happens to them.

Banning a player for a PVE exploit in a PVE only game is really mindboggling

Always appreciated Bungie's approach to things like this. Really silly to ban people over problems you left in your own software.

For those not familiar with Gladd, he's one of the top PvE streamers in Destiny. His team is constantly running for world records in raids and other end game activities in Destiny. They are relentless when it comes to finding the optimal/quickest way to beat these types of games.

I'm not sure one should be banned for a game design choice or bug. The TOS for Anthem apparently includes taking advantage of design choices/glitches as a violation and is ban worthy.

Not a good move and I can see this getting overturned soon. I think the proper way to handle this would be to patch the exploit as Bungie often does.

Not the first time Bioware have done this kinda stuff, several people were banned in SWTOR for farming chests in a max level zone in the early days of the game.

Lmao. Mike Ybarra says we should watch streamers instead of reading reviews

Streamer literally gets perma-banned playing the game the way it released.

Can't make this shit up.

He's also an insanely positive streamer compared to some of the alternatives.

It really is as if Bioware have made a choice to not learn or do anything that Bungie has done right.

Its normal for online games.

No, it's not. Bungie and Massive don't ban people from Destiny and Division when players abuse PVE exploits. Loot cave in Destiny 1, people glitching into Last Wish in Destiny 2 before the raid dropped to get raid loot, Bullet King and the incursion glitches in Division, etc. All PVE exploits that the devs patched and didn't ban people for. They patch that shit and move along. It's not worth the effort punishing players for developer oversight when you can just patch it and admit it was broken.

In before a unban, and a half-assed excuse to why they did it

Seriously, in a PvE only game? come on
