Never played any of these games but I’m interested in trying this remake out based on all the good things people have been saying about the series.

I remember being disappointed DAH didn’t play as well as Mercenaries.

This will have to be one hell of a remake because I don’t remember the original game being particularly compelling in gameplay for very long, though it did have a lot of good things going for it.

The choice of Rammstein for trailer music is almost as jarring considering that incident as the "ARE YOU READY KIDS?" tweet for the Spongebob game

Sooo..... who owns the rights to Stubbs the Zombie ? That weird bungie game, could THQ buy the rights for that ?

Also this looks hyped, can't wait to play it and review it for our site

Stubbs the Zombie was developed by Wideload games. They were bought by Disney, made mobile games for a few years, and were shut down. Seems unlikely Disney will ever sell any of their IPs regardless of their interest in it.

Holy shit! I fucking loved these games on PS2 and always wanted to play them again.

Hope they dont remake it too much and fuck with the formula.

Woah, I never knew this was being made and I absolutely cannot wait!

Huge fan of the originals and the trailer was amazing (love rammstein too so that was unexpected).

Day 1!

The use of the Rammstein song is actually pretty inspired, that's a good trailer.

Is this one of those "they are secretly Nazis" hot takes?
If you're referring to Rammstein, then no, I would say the contrary, that they're anti-fascist. If you're saying the people who are actually working on this game, I'd also say no. If you're referring to the people who are at the head of THQNordic and its related parent company, then I'd say that they're overt Nazis

The graphics look excellent but the game wasn’t so old that it needed a remake imo. I would have preferred a new game.

No, I meant Rammstein. I guess I get your comment now - it's weird that they picked Rammstein, who are an antinazi band, being nazi adjacent themselves.

(I've heard stupid takes about the band before, sorry)

I remember loving this because it was "GTA as an alien", no idea how it will hold up. Hopefully it's a full on remake like the Ratchet game and not just new graphics.

Looks okay. It sounds like it's a budget release, and I had fun with the series back in the day.

I'll be happy to buy it if it's received well at launch. I'd like to see some new stuff from THQN's massive IP backlog though.

They are tweaking the gameplay

Okay so looking at some of these screenshots the levels seem like the time of day is different from what I remember it being in the original game. Am I misremembering or are they adding a day night cycle?

I thought this game was pretty mediocre back when it originally released and I can't imagine time has done it any favours. Would have preferred a more current sequel if anything.

It makes it sad, how after such a shitshow, that they start showing games I was really looking forward to. Oh well, shouldn't have went with pedos and Nazis.

I can't link it ATM, but there's a hands-on article that mentions all the voice acting is the same. Like, completely re-used dialogue/sound files. No new stuff.

It also just generally goes on about how meh this looks and does its best to bum me out.

Some of the levels were set at night. The settings look the same as the original. Looks nice :)

If it weren't for THQ Nordic being THQ Nordic, this would be day 1 hype. Hearing Rammstein was fun, though.

A couple quotes from the interview linked in the post above mine by TheUnseenTheUnheard.

Destroy All Humans is pretty early in development right now. It’s been in the works for — I can say for some months. It’s slated to come out in the spring of next year. We’re working in Unreal Engine 4.
It’s a full remake in the sense that we’re staying faithful to the original design, but everything is made from scratch. As you’ve seen, we have the visual strengths of Black Forest coming out. We’ve modernized a lot of the controls, the flow of the run and gun experience.

We’ve taken bits of features that we know were improvements in the sequel to the first game and put them in. One example is the dash, which was only in the second game. We’ve added that here, and evolved it to have more of a skating motion. If you hold the dash button and press down, Crypto will skate along the ground, which gives you better mobility for shooting stuff. That’s where the fun of the game comes out.
The one thing we really want to make sure is always the case in Destroy All Humans is that it’s accessible. It should be a very accessible, run-and-gun combat game that’s not — when you look at it from the top down, it shouldn’t be very difficult. That doesn’t mean the game is shallow. The way the features play together should give you a nice experience. But at its core, it should just be fun destroying humans and human-related stuff.

Trailer got me hyped, do I need a gameplay reveal? Probaby not because I know what it is, but yeah I'm definitely picking this up. Well always love any game that takes place in the 50's with classic alien tropes.
