Damn, this is anothe one of those games I need to try and play some time next year. I seriously gotta make a list of feasible titles I can see myself playing and finishing in 2019.

Good Shit, definitely deserved. One of the only games both my parents watched me play from beginning to end because they were so enthralled by it and its graphics, story, acting and couldn't believe i wasn't watching a movie/tv show. there is simply no denying that they are the kings of branching narrative story driven titles with actual consequences.

I'm trying to remember if there were any really awkward parts to play in front of parents. Parts of the android strip club I suppose?

It was a lot better than it looked in trailers. I enjoyed it. I think it's the best game they've made by today's standards.

I'm so happy for them. Had good time drawing fanarts for this game. Helped me with my depression lol

Great, we need AAA games like Detroit that add variety to the gaming ecosystem. I haven't played it yet, have to clear a bit my backlog , but i will.

He definitely can make good interactive, cinematic experiences. Time to evolve that shit and add more gameplay for their next game – just build upon Nomad Soul.

Well deserved. It's my 2nd favourite game this year after AC Odyssey. The way the game does consequences is unlike absolutely anything out there in the market and I've played a lot of these games.

I absolutely LOVED Conner and Hank. Both Bryan Dechart and Clancy Brown are great actors. Kara was good too and Marcus was overall ok. Infact they all acted well.

Btw Bryan Dechart frequently streams on Twitch with his wife (who's in the game too as the Traci model android). Currently he's playing God of War but he plays Detroit now and then.

Congrats to them. I still need to really dive deep into it but I loved Heavy Rain and Beyond and picked this up when it was on sale for like $30 digitally a month or so back.

Good game I really enjoyed it. Also enjoyed watching people play it on Twitch after I was done with it.

Congrats to Quantic Dream and Sony. Detroit: Become Human is QD's best game yet. One of my favourite games this gen.

This thread reminded me that I still haven't played this great looking game, only because I haven't had time to squeeze it in between other games. I took a look at my favorite local online shop and they had it on sale for €25, so with some store points I had I got a physical copy for €18, should arrive in the mail shortly.

Terrific game and my first cage game. Does Heavy Rain still hold up today? Anything in that game where I might be like "well if you didnt like x in Detroit, you'll hate y" kind of comparisons?

I've been out of the loop on this game, and only took note of the metacritic rating. After upgrading my TV and to Pro I've been looking for more games with good production values. The positive responses ITT are encouraging.
Production values on Detroit are quite outstanding, far higher than the 78 on Meta would have you believe perhaps (it plays more like a 88+ game tbh), so enjoy!

Gotta love how people still try to downplay the sales. Amazing.

Congrats to QD and hopefully there's more to come like this when it comes to Playstation exclusives. Not among one of my favorite games of the year, but I had a great time with it.

I really enjoyed Detroit, Cage's best game. I am happy it's selling the fastest for them. That said I don't understand how this is that profitable. After retail fees and sales that's like what $90 million revenue if that? This game was in development for over 4 years, it's not just how much money it took to make but the amount of time spent by one studio for one product.

Compare that to a movie, two and a half years for a big movie, much less for most, any decent sized movie can make $100 million worldwide easy. A studio can have like 3-4 movies going, if one bombs another is right behind it.

It just seems way inefficient compared to the movie industry.

It depends of the number of people working on it and the average cost per people. Develop a game in France is much cheaper than in US, production cost were only 30 millions euros(37 millions dollars) without marketing. And the peak number of people is 180 peoples for Detroit.

Edit: All Quantic Dreams games were profitable, I am sure this one will be too.

Good for them. I'll probably buy it eventually as I've mostly enjoyed their previous work.
It is their best game, so you should have a blast. It combines HR's and Beyond's strength into one package pretty much while adding even more stuff

Nice legs, but at $20 thats maybe expected.
It sold those 2M copies before November, so mostly at $40-60

$90-100M gross revenue might be about right, but the production budget was only $37M and their previous games had marketing expenses between $20-25M. So assuming Detroit was higher on that front gives us a total budget of around $67M. So yeah, it is profitable since a while and already "funds" their next title if Sony so chooses

The movement controls are irritating in Heavy Rain, but not enough to discourage a playthrough. Platinuming it is kind of a slog if that's something you are interested in, but the multiple endings are pretty good since the three main characters can die at points. The graphics are dated, but the atmosphere is still amazing.

I honestly wouldn't mind if QD ditched the whole multi-choice, branching-narrative aesthetic of their past four games and just made a full-blown point & click adventure with Detroit-tier production values as their next project. Like a noir game where you play as a detective investigating a string of murders for instance. Think L.A. Noire but without the combat or open world, just a pure focus on finding clues, solving puzzles, interrogating NPCs and a slow-burning story with atmosphere up the wazoo. I think they have it in them to make a game like that. There's no harm in breaking away from the interactive movie mold for a bit.

QD genuinely surprised me with this game. I laughed at Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain was good but nowhere near the hype it received back in the day (and is hilarious as well now watching parts of it again) but this game was great. One of the best games of the year, for sure and probably the best "choice" adventure game I've played yet (easily QD's best game too).
