WORK IN PROGRESS!!!!!
Devil May Cry is a "stylish, hardcore gothic" action video game series that was created by Hideki Kamiya and developed by Capcom. DMC is considered the "Godfather" of the 3D stylish action genre by many as it spawned many games that tried to replicate its formula of intense, over the top action with an emphasis on style (but not without the substance). It is characterized by having you control power characters with the ability to both fight at close distance with melee weapons like swords and gauntlets while also laying waste to enemies from a far with firearms like dual pistals, shotguns and rocket launchers.
While DMC started off as an off shoot of the Resident Evil games, it has evolved into a far more action driven series. Up to date there are 4 mainline DMC games (Devil May Cry 1-4) and 1 reboot game called "DmC: Devil May Cry". DMC3 and DMC4 both have received Special Editions which introduce more playable characters where as DmC received a Definitive Edition that also had an extra playable character along with numerous game play changes.
Devil May Cry is the first game in the Devil May Cry series, Created and directed by Hideki Kamiya featuring the main playable character, Dante, a son of Sparda, as the main protagonist. The game opens with a cutscene where a woman named Trish bursts into Dante's shop and asks for help. The game is set entirely in and around an ominous castle on Mallet Island where both Trish and Dante go to face a great evil.
Devil May Cry 2 serves as a sequel to Devil May Cry and is currently the last game in the Devil May Cry series to take place chronologically. Set in modern times, in the fictional city of Uroboros on Dumary Island, the story centers on Dante and Lucia in their fight to stop a sinister businessman named Arius from raising the demon Argosax and achieving supreme power.
Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening is the third game in the Devil May Cry series. It is a prequel to the first Devil May Cry game, making it the first game in the series chronologically. Dante's twin brother, Vergil, and a man named Arkham release the ancient tower of Temen-ni-gru from below a modern city and conspire to use Dante to unlock the gate to the demonic realm. While working toward confronting his brother, Dante encounters Lady, a fellow devil hunter, and the mysterious Jester, an enigmatic clown that aids Dante throughout his journey.
Devil May Cry 4 is the fourth installment of Devil May Cry game series. In Devil May Cry 4, the player controls both Nero, a new character, and Dante, the series's main protagonist. The story follows Nero, a young man possessing demonic powers who is on a mission to stop the series' main character, Dante, after he assassinates demons from the Order of the Sword including its leader.
DmC: Devil May Cry is a reboot of the DMC series that takes place in an alternative universe and timeline from the original DMC series. It features Dante, now a half human and half angel, who joins forces with his long lost brother Vergil to exact revenge on Mundus, the demon king, for taking the life his mother Eva and imprisoning his father Sparda.
Vergil was the eldest of twin sons born from the demon Sparda and human Eva, and is the main antagonist of Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening and a playable character in its special edition. Following the death of their mother as children, Vergil and Dante go their separate ways, with Vergil rejecting his humanity and embracing his demonic heritage, contrasting his younger brother's embrace of humanity and initial rejection of the demonic. Stoic and reserved, Vergil displays a willingness to do anything in his quest to obtain the power of his father, Sparda.
Nero is the main protagonist in the fourth installment of the Devil May Cry series. Nero serves as a Holy Knight in the Order of the Sword, a religious group that worships Sparda and fights to protect the world from demons. Kyrie is the childhood friend of Nero, who he shares a strong romantic bond with; this romance plays a major part in driving Nero throughout the events of Devil May Cry 4.
