Trump pushed to close El Paso border, told agents not to admit migrants and to resume family separations
Nielsen told Trump that would be a bad and even dangerous idea, and that the governor of Texas, Republican Greg Abbott, has been very supportive of the President.

She proposed an alternative plan that would slow down entries at legal ports. She argued that if you close all the ports of entry all you would be doing is ending legal trade and travel, but migrants will just go between ports.

According to two people in the room, the President said: "I don't care."

It seems like there are two kinds of people in the Trump administration-- complete garbage humans, and people who in another life, with a different boss, could have been halfway decent civil servants. Neilsen seemed like the latter... or maybe she was merely better at acting like a competent professional on the surface. I feel like it's a sure thing though that whatever she was, her replacement will be worse for the country.

No she's a piece of shit that's been mentored by Kelly for years it's he who brought her in and his views on immigration are exactly the same as Trump and Miller what she's trying to avoid is another congressional oversight committee, the news and most importantly the courts. She should have left at the same time as that piece of shit Kelly.

Trump cleaning house in this manner with the above quotes about his entire lack of understanding with how laws and the courts work makes for a very scary future. This is what happens when checks and balances are ignored. We will forever pay for the generation of immigrants Trump insists are dangerous.

On one hand, Trump's appointees are basically universally horrible human beings so it's hard to feel bad when they're shitcanned or otherwise chased out like this. On the other hand, the people who fill the ensuing power vacuum are usually even worse, so it's always hard to feel particularly good about it either.
