Diablo 3 Switch really needs Diablo 1 + Diablo 2 with it

I have spent countless hours playing all Diablo games on the PC since 1996...

And hearing that Diablo 3 was coming to Switch got me a bit excited. I say a bit because having spent so much time on D3 PC, the possibility of playing D3 on the go sounds great BUT I don't know if Diablo 3 alone is enough for me.

I remember I stopped playing D3 for a reason. Somehow I got sick of it. And I think the best way to re-play the game would be if Diablo on Switch had all 3 games. I think Diablo 1 & 2 would be awesome on the go. A great way to introduce the first two games to younger generations who never played them and I think there has never been a better opportunity to do this than the Switch. We play Mega Man on Switch and a lot of retro games. Diablo 1 & 2 would be right at home on the Switch screen.
Also with Diablo 4 on the horizon, what a great opportunity to celebrate the 3 games, replay them, do something nice for the fans so that they open their wallet when Diablo 4 comes...

We need :
Diablo 1 + Hellfire expansion
Diablo 2 + Lord of Destruction expansion

Diablo 1

Soundtrack

Diablo2

Soundtrack

So who has never played these but is excited about the possibility of trying them on Switch for the first time ?
Who just want to replay them and find the Switch a good place to do so ?

Let me know your thoughts.

Diablo 3 contains Diablo 1 every January since 2016.

Also, port begging is bad and saying "there has never been a better time to bring new games than on the switch" and "it would feel right at home on there" is port begging imo :/.

Diablo creator David Brevik talked about how difficult it would be to remaster D2 nowdays given how the game was made back in the day.

That is not Diablo 1 dude.
I am not port begging, what's wrong with you, we cannot speak without having people jump on us with port begging expressions. Do we live under dictatorship here or what.

These games arent on other consoles/PC in new/remastered version (yet)...but you think Switch was going to get them beforehand ?

Also as someone who likely played over 1k hours of D2 on Switch sounds like a terrible idea lol.

Diablo 2 is obviously the most superior of all Diablo games. But I see no reason why blizzard would do Diablo 1 & 2 on switch when they are releasing Diablo 3.

On PC it makes sense as D3 is at end of his life. But on switch audience that's brand new.

I actually even doubt D1&2 remasters even for PCs are coming. I see no reason why blizzard would do do that when D4 is just around the corner.

Those games would need some major reworking to be an enjoyable experience on Switch.

I don't disagree but that's way too much value for a $60 package.

I'd easily buy Diablo 2 for $20-30 and I'm sure Blizzard knows that. : /

I mean I’ve also been playing since the first Diablo in the 90’s but I don’t want to go back. Would be better off with a Torchlight or PoE port.

I don't think so, look at games like Mega Man.
Anyway, personally without D1 & 2, I will probably skip.
Megaman was made for controllers. D2 was made for PC M/KB with people sitting close to the screen. There would have to be a lot of QoL done to make these enjoyable on a handheld Switch.

Ditto. D3 is enough, I need time to work and eat and stuff.

They would have to port it to PS4/Xbone before I think we’d see a switch version and even then they will just sell them separately and people will still buy them. Why include it with D3 when millions will pay $60 just for D3 alone? Makes no business sense.

All that being said, would fucking love to see D1 and D2 on Switch.

The number 1 reason is aspect ratio. So what, just do like Mega Man with bars, I don't care lol.
We don't even need the game remastered because the Switch screen is small, that's all fine.
And yea I see no problem with that version going before PS4 or Xbox One remastered for the obvious reasons I just mentioned.

It would take a ludicrous amount of work to get those working on a console with a gamepad.
Diablo 1 was on the PSX. I am a big advocator of the PC version as a preference but having played the PSX release it was a good port all things considered at the time.

Although D2 never got a console release for any platform but it would be fantastic for those that don't own a PC get to experience it.

Why do that when they can release them all separately at MSRP and still sell a ton of copies?

Also, they have even remastered Diablo 1 and 2 yet, let alone made them playable with a controller. This is a strange request.

Diablo 3 contains Diablo 1 every January since 2016.

Port begging is when someone derails a thread by begging for a port though. In this case, you're the thread derailer.

The amount of people who own a Switch, but not a computer capable of running Diablo 2, is so intensely small.

I'm not saying I wouldn't welcome it, but why put resources into that when they can just make a new Diablo? It isn't worth the time.

how would you even control D1 and D2 with a controller? Those games are made for M/KB controls.

I haven't played D2, but why wouldn't they just be able to move UI elements and change the distance objects are rendered at?

Mega Man I understand, because some stuff off screen might not be so pretty, but I can't imagine that's the case with something like D2.

The things is fewer & fewer people want to sit at their desk and play Diablo 1 & 2 on PC though. They will preferably spend their time on modern games.
On the Switch however, things are different.

So many trolls on here.

Diablo 3 on consoles is fundamentally a different game than Diablo 3 on PC, so just simply asking for 1 and 2 to be adapted into console-friendly versions when they don’t even have PC remasters yet just feels like preemptive port begging.

People constantly bring up the argument that dungeon crawlers are unfeasible without kb+m controls and this has been archaic stance for years considering the likes of Torchlight, Sacred 2, and even Dungeon Siege and the likes. Even stuff like the Van Helsing trilogy and Victor Vran exist. Path of Exile is also on the Xbox One.

Why do folks continue to push this narrative still?

1. Of course most computers today can run Diablo 2. I imagine people that want it on the Switch want it there for the Switch's unique capabilities.
2. There probably isn't a ton of overlap in the resources that would be used to port these games vs. making a new Diablo game.

That said, I agree that it's probably not likely to happen as much as I'd love it :(

While I hate Diablo III with a passion, if they can manage to sneak Diablo I and Diablo II WITH Diablo III, I just might buy it. Also I'd hope by now, they'd do HD remakes of the first two installments of the series.

Literally hasn't even been re released on the original platform

Entitlement a little extreme itt

Even stranger you only ask for this to come to switch version and not anywhere else that it "needs" to be

Port begging characteristics are strong

Victor Vran comes to Switch this month as well. Titan Quest just released few weeks ago too.

I would say it doesn't. Diablo 2 is more than likely getting an HD upgrade this year or next so that will probably come to Switch and every other console like it should at that point.
