I want to know too, screenshots too pretty please!
That depends on consoles being able to use tech of similar results. This video is why I'm kinda thinking chasing native 4K is turning out to be a bit of a waste of time and resources. If DLSS 2.0 had come a bit earlier I wonder if the next gen would all be targeting 1440p upscaled to 4K with better performance. I'd already take 1440p/60 over 4K/30, but with DLSS you basically get 4K/60 at the hardware cost of 1440p.
I'm curious what this could mean for future Nintendo hardware though if they stick with nVidia, this sort of stuff seems ideal for smaller devices. Even if a lot of this is down to TAA.
Death Stranding was updated with DLSS 2.1 Ultra performance mode. Is this for 1440p->8K right?
I just did some tests, 1080p 144hz monitor.
i7-6700k 4.5GHz
RTX 2060

DLSS OFF - 110-120fps

I guess there's no reason for even performance DLSS for 1080p to exist on this game unless you want to try and get 144fps+. At this point it seems it's bottlenecked by the CPU as the framerate doesn't go up that much.
Might be able to test performance if you use DSR so you can downsample from 4k.
Thanks for that.Just tested on my 4K TV, here the results. Not sure how the compression will destroy the screenshots, but here they are.
Short version:
On RTX 2060 at 4K
- DLSS OFF - 40fps
- DLSS QUALITY - 50fps
- DLSS PERFORMANCE - 70fps
- DLSS ULTRA PERFORMANCE - 80fps
Long version (pics):
4K DLSS OFF - 40~fps

4K DLSS QUALITY - 50~fps

On my 1080p/240Hz display,, my 9700K is CPU bottlenecked in performance mode as well, at around 150~170fps depending on the scene.I guess there's no reason for even performance DLSS for 1080p to exist on this game unless you want to try and get 144fps+. And as it's a very slow-paced game 120 is enough and easily achievable with a 2060. At this point it seems it's bottlenecked by the CPU as the framerate doesn't go up that much.
What? I thought DLSS Ultra Performance mode was exclusive to Ampere and only for 8K, as it's 1/9 of the resolution.I just did some tests, 1080p 144hz monitor.

I think it's only 1/9 for 8K on those games that support it. 4k ultra performance had less performance than native 1080p for me, so I guess ultra performance for 4K it's around 1200p or so if performance is 1440p and quality 1600p or 1800p (dont remember). What? I thought DLSS Ultra Performance mode was exclusive to Ampere and only for 8K, as it's 1/9 of the resolution.
Your Ultra Performance screenshot is 1/9 of 1080p? Thats almost unbelievable that it looks still so good.
1080p Performance is 540p. Quality is 720p.Quality to 4k is 1440p base res
Performance to 4k is 1080p base res
Ultra performance to 8k is 1440p base res irc
Ultra performance to 1080p must be like 720p or lower like 540p
480p probably.1080p Performance is 540p. Quality is 720p.
I have no idea what Ultra would even scale from, if it works at 1080p.
We know nothing of machine learning solutions.

Nope, there is nothing we currently know of. DLSS is a Nvidia technology and AMD currently has nothing like it but they do have upcoming events for their new CPU & GPU and they possibly could announce something then.
Outside the machine learning part, temporal upsampling and temporal injection are close to it.
