Direct.Playstation Shop updated with references to PS5 pre-orders, and compatibility badges

The PlayStation Direct Shop has been updated with references to PlayStation 5 console pre-orders.

The references can be found in the source code, in the javascript validators.

Basically the error message for when you try to add more than one PlayStation 5 Console SKU to your cart.



You'll be limited to 1 console, whether it be disk or digital.

They've also added a new badge to the system that can be displayed alongside products that are PS5 compatible. Example below.

Disclaimer: This doesn't mean that the DUALSHOCK 4 is compatible, or that everything on the site is. The site is coded this way; every product has ALL the badges, and they are shown/hidden pro grammatically depending on the information from the database. Currently no product is returning the information required to show these badges.

Everything. But I'm sure it's just programmatically added and hidden/shown depending on the database result.

So that badge is just a general badge that can be applied to anything. We don't know what it will apply to yet since the back-end doesn't return it as of yet.

I hope the PS5 badge on games means it's PS5 enhanced and not "if a game doesn't have this badge it doesn't work on PS5."

this was rumoured a while back, there was some html snooping which stated it would too. no official confirmation yet but i'm gonna go out on a limb and say it probably will looking at how the dualshock 3 works on ps4

No, just that they have a badge to confirm compatibility if they need to.
The badge is present on -every- product on the site, but that's just how the site is coded, it's not representative of anything or hints to any which products will or will not be compatible.

The price is most likely set in stone already, they aren't going to react to MS.

The PS4's target price was set during development. They said that they were happy that it ended up being lower than X1 at that E3 but they had no plans to undercut if it wasn't.

I enabled ALL the badges on PSVR just to show that the badges don't mean anything currently. They're present on ALL product pages.

The Move was a PS3 controller.

Wouldnt the logical assumption be that it will work? vs it not?

I don't think Sony will touch the PS5 enhanced label even if PS5 games get upgrades they might be saving that for PS5 Pro enhanced
