THE THIRTEENTH TITLE IN THE COLIN MCRAE RALLY SERIES

Developer: Codemasters
Release Date: February 26th, 2019, February 22nd for Deluxe Edition
Platforms: PC, XB1, PS4
Price: $59.99 (Standard Edition), $79.99 (Deluxe Edition)

DESCRIPTION

Dirt Rally 2.0 is a racing video game focused on rallying and rallycross. Players compete in timed stage events on tarmac and off-road terrain in varying weather conditions. The game features stages in Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Poland, Spain and the U.S. (New England). Dirt Rally 2.0 lets players choose between a total of fifty cars, including World Rallycross Supercars and eight circuits from the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Every car can have its setup adjusted before a race.

These are definitely necessary, as the game now also features a new weather modelling system where changes in the weather will affect the relative level of grip and require players to take a more nuanced approach to driving. The weather will also affect visibility in stages. The surface of the stages is also subject to degradation; as more cars pass over a stage, more than 100 layers ensure that the road surface will start to shift and break up, affecting grip levels. The gameplay therefore demands maximum concentration, especially as some tracks take more than 10 minutes to complete. There is no rewind function and damages not only have a visual but also mechanical effect

Please note: this game requires an online connection to play career mode.

Reviews:

PC Gamer: 8.7/10
Simply the best rally sim around, building on its predecessor's already fine foundations.
A bit like the Normandy beach landings, but with pace notes

Eurogamer Italy: 8/10
The overall rating of Dirt Rally 2.0 is still positive considering the contents and modalities, even if we would have liked a couple more rallies and fewer Rallycross circuits.

Beautiful! Countdown to Thursday 10 PM (MST) begins

That PC Gamer review is exactly the kind of review I was hoping for. Also, "A bit like the Normandy beach landings, but with pace notes" should be the box quote.

Like in the first one, missing my Celicas ;/. I know that Toyota is stubborn lately in regards to licensing but my local WRC champion drove those.

Don't they plan to add the stages from the first game to this? It should require less work than creating new ones and due to the nature of the game no one would mind to see recycled content.

Left 4 don't cut, be brave!

I worry about the visuals - need to see some additional footage on base PS4. I hope patch might fix any popup issues and blurryness.

According to the road map, they're adding Monte Carlo, Sweden and Germany, which have been in previous games. Not sure whether they will be the same tracks or not.

Curious if I'll be able to handle more than a minute in vr on this game as dirt rally 1 is the only game I can't handle in my full library.

No problem as my simulator with the 49inch chg90 is ready!

I hope they improved gamepad support first game was so cruel to gamepad users. I played about 40hrs even though I wanted to play more there were some stages almost undrivable.

Any possibility of them patching in PSVR support someday? Dirt Rally in VR was fantastic even though it took a hit visually.

I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't given (a) PSVR is the most successful VR platform and (b) they patched it in in the previous game.

BUT... as I recall the last one was a paid DLC. Someone else might need to confirm that, I don't have PSVR

I'm not too happy with the support the first Dirt Rally got. And the grind needed to unlock cars was stupidly insane, if they don't fix that, i think i'll skip.

The Dirt Rally series is like the rogue-lite of racing games.

Gonna have to deprioritize games this month, but I'll definitely check this out later.

Uh is the deluxe edition exclusive to a certain retailer? Amazon has no preorder option, its not listed at all on Gamestop or Best Buy

For those of you who have it already, how are the physics compared to the previous game? I loved DR1.0 but there were some cars that felt almost uncontrollable.

What are the new features or improvements in Dirt Rally 2.0 with respect the previous one?
I believe these are new features. Track degradation being a big one.

I'm most likely gonna get this but I'm on the fence as to whether or not I pay extra for the early access version. Anyone feel like tipping me over one way or another?

Another game with a staggered release. Like the others, I'll wait for it to stagger to £20 before I buy.

I thought I was the only one who cared about Celica. . _.

So im looking at the Digital deluxe version and im not sure what the Season One Tokens and Season Two Tokens actually are?, are these extra rallies locked behind a paywall?. If these are nothing then the only thing id be interested in in the Deluxe version is the 5 car pack and im not sure thats worth the premium

s1 is detailed in the opening post. I expect s2 to be similar only focused on rallycross

They will indeed add tracks from previous game to 2.0. In the previous topic, there're even comparison screenshots

I have the game for about a week (for reviewing purposes), I can answer to questions :)

Oh wow - this is a huge improvement

I mean some of that is lighting but the texture work on the rocks and foliage on the right wall are much better
