Discord removing partner status for servers with pornographic content

In the past day, Discord updated their partnership requirements to ban pornographic content:

Do keep in mind that being a Discord partner means exhibiting the best behavior, as well as always upholding our community guidelines. Because of this, Partnered servers should never contain pornographic content, but you are welcome to use the NSFW age gate for something such as a channel discussing spoilers.

It looks like they are already taking action against partner servers that have porn channels.

It looks like r/FFXIV's partnership will not be restored even if they remove the porn channel due to some of the language used on that server.

The admin for the r/FFXIV Discord server is complaining that other partner servers also have a lot of instances of the word "retard" and racial slurs, but that sounds like a good reason for those servers to lose partnership too. Just have a bot that deletes messages with those kinds of words. I'm sure a bot like that exists.

This is only for partnered servers. Not your random server that is for a specific game. Basically if a server wants to stay partnered/become partnered then they can't have porn on the server. Really not that big of a deal but people are going to over react anyway

Saw something about this yesterday with regards to Fate/Grand Order. In that game's case it sucks because fanart is a big part of the community and a ton of it is at least some degree of NSFW. Depending on where they draw the line I'd imagine a lot of the official art wouldn't get a pass either. So something like a bot that brings up character profiles would need to be redone. Depends where Discord draws the line I guess.

Yeah I am a part of that XIV discord (just a member, not a mod) and that NSFW channel got moderated pretty good and people were banned/pictures deleted if they didn't comply with the rules and the slurs and stuff that were mentioned also got deleted when a mod came in. I just think it's super bizarre that they would use such excuses. You can't mod every channel every 24h on a global server and while the words here were disgusting it doesn't mean the mods were bad or anything.

If Discord wants to remove NSFW that's fine even though it's disappointing after they said it was okay so long as the server wasn't pornographic in nature. EDIT: guys, porn channels are very common

permanent ban is also pretty petty for two people using slurs that don't reflect the community. It isn't like there were terrorist propaganda or something.

If FFXIV goes down then I guess the rest are going too. Admin's complaint is wholly valid, I've seen waaay worse on other partnered servers.

I mean, to be fair half of the content posted there was borderline risque, although there was pornographic content posted at times. What I think would be a more viable solution is to have Discord define what 'pornographic' content is to them. Fully nude individuals/characters? Perhaps that's fine. Actual showing of penetration and sexual acts. Maybe have that banned.

If I recall it allows better server options, stability, access to specific Discord based commands/support amongst other things.

Mods and admins are supposed to reflect the community though? It's their job after all, to make sure the community is controlled.

Good i quit discord cuz of this there were pedos roleplayin sex with very young teens in lots of the splatoon ones.

Lewd roleplay servers should be banned immediatly.

Sadly, I feel like this is an unpopular thing to say but I'm for this.
I want there to be places where I'm not going to get porn shoved in my face. I'd like the channels I frequent to be family friendly. They're often not.

BTW, while I think that the rule is good, the whole way that Discord has managed this has been disastrous.
Outright deleting servers without knowing what was the issue, and not communicating the rule in a clear way completely soured my view of them

I didn't know Discord had a partner thing. What's it about, more promotion?
And porn? I'm a member of around 20 mainly gaming Discords, ranging from a few dozen members, to many thousands, and not a single one of them tolerate porn, never mind have a section dedicated to it. Wouldn't be a part of a server that did.

100,000 subs for Youtube lol. Most are not gonna hit this. Also 10,000 average views per video. Another requirement is uploading 2-3 videos per week.
Reddit communities, 8,000+ users.

Its for really big communities. So you don't have to worry about losing nsfw channel on a smaller discord server.

Kinda like most popular big game servers who are partnered has a lewd channel, while it's not really super active or anything.. It's just what some people view once in a while lol. Don't see much harm in it, as long as it's not child porn and etc.

In the case of the one channel I use with a NSFW tab it's more for sharing random nsfw(or borderline) fanart of the game people find on pixiv, twitter etc. Well other than the one dude who just posts whatever...hi Jeff.

Just by existing I assume it makes everyone think twice about what they are posting in the regular channels, which is nice because Discord has a mobile version and I don't particularly want to have to explain why there's anime tiddies on my screen to someone standing behind me.

Good. Porn has no place on channels meant to attract a large amount of people. I only run the Black Desert community Discord server for Era, but we decided against a porn channel because it would have a high likelihood of making people, and more specifically women, uncomfortable.
