I mean is it stupid he's being emotional? Sure I guess but I also wouldn't consider a blanket tweet about defending Tim Rothman toxic.
Also you can't get banned for tweeting jfc.
With how much people seemingly love Raimi's Spider-Man films, I'm starting to get an itch to rewatch them for the first time since their theatrical releases.
wait
does sony not own the video game rights to spider man?
and they just bought insomniac yesterday?
Marvel own the game rights, but SIE have an exclusive license to standalone Spidey games. The deal also had nothing to do with the movies, so pretty big stretch from people thinking it'd be affected by this.Wait, Marvel has the game rights? Hmmm
Disney tries to negotiate with Sony
Sony won't play ball
Marvel tries withholding Spider-Man rights as a chip, threatens the sequel as a multiplat/Xbox exclusive
Sony buys Insomniac so defang the threat
I don't actually think this was what happened
I am simply not a fan of anything S*ny does or their poor customer service or lack of integrity, and don't like to speak their name aloud. It's like if Voldemort was a company.
I watched it in 4K a couple of weeks ago. It looks great. Some CGI has aged though but overall, it's a great movie. The fact that it's Sam Raimi making superhero movies is reason enough.
Are you... trying to act morally superior?
I doubt they said co finance and you keep all the profits. That's a good way for your stock to take a nosedive. My guess is 50/50 finance, 50/50 profit, 50/50 ownership of the license, Sony still distributor (i.e. 8-9% of the gross) and creative control. Sony still controls when and which movies get released.
It isn't. I was just posting this because he asked what tweet people were speaking of.
Wasn't it Sony that didn't come to the table after Disney proposed that?
It's Sony's biggest film property. It's best for them to keep as much control as possible. Neither company cares about the fans they want the biggest piece of the Spide-Pie possible.
Greedy play by Disney.
Holy shit! Fuck that guy...
Wait, the deal for Spidey in the MCU had Disney actually paying Sony?I think the article is wrong on that. As early as FY 2018 Disney specified that they pay a percentage of the gross to Sony. This is from the 2011 contract, which got amended to reduce the amount in 2015.
That's fair, but still no reason for some MCU fans to lose their mind over it.
When they say dumb shit? Yeah it is. Why does him deleting tweets make him untouchable? People bring up deleted tweets from people who have made a fool of themselves all of the damn time. Mocking fanboys is standard practise everywhere. We have threads mocking Snyder fanboys and TLJ hating nutjobs all of the damn time. Like the dude hasnt even deleted all of the dumb shit he's posted today. It's not okay to shit on people. If someone deleted their embarrassing tweet, maybe it's because they were embarrassed by it. For someone to then repost that tweet with the express intent to further mock its author... Like, you don't know what that person is going through. It's not okay and it is never okay. Surely it doesn't take someone admitting publicly that they're struggling with mental health issues for you to see any merit in sparing them public humiliation.
Actually Disney came to the table with 50%, Sony came back with keeping the existing deal as is, and Disney is the one that bailed.Wasn't it Sony that didn't come to the table after Disney proposed that?
Yeah, I understand Sony owns the film rights, and they could make however many Spider-Man movies they wanted. There's no "allowed." Sony owns the film rights to Spider-Man and Holland is under contract with Sony.
Sony can literally do whatever they want with both, there's no "allowed" that comes into play here.
Yeah, hard to judge without knowing details.Fair point; honestly I think the whole balance of it depends on whether or not Disney splits further costs such as marketing 50-50. If so, then it comes out to 50-50 on profit as well and on a film with a profit like Homecoming, Sony is essentially no worse off. It all depends on the nature of the co-financing agreement, and my limited understanding of a co-financing agreement is in fact that such costs are often split. Unfortunately we just don't know the details currently.
lol, I remember back in the old place there were so many Sony fans in the gaming side. Not to mention the amount of "Nintendo is doomed" posts too. It was unbearable.Lol, I see way worse on a daily basis (usually the other way around) in the Gaming forums.

No i dont see any merit in not laughing at dumbshit fanboyism and assumin that he could have mental health issues.
And it's only there biggest property because of the MCUIt's Sony's biggest film property. It's best for them to keep as much control as possible. Neither company cares about the fans they want the biggest piece of the Spide-Pie possible.
Off site stupidity should not be his saving grace here. The staff has banned multiple sources and sites and he should be one
It's inexcusable for a 41 year old man to behave like this and doesn't deserve to be part of this community 🤷♂️
No ones mad
I joined this site because I was told staff handled toxic clowns like this accordingly
I really hope Feige wasn't behind the sim-BAI-oat pronunciation. They further clarified Feige has contributed to other Spider-centric movies that he did not receive a producer credit on.
Lots of Spiderverse love but why is nobody going to bat for the actual best Spider-Man movie, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2.
