I know this is the Mini, but the design's still the same. Over the years I've seen people mock this design for being somehow uglier than the European SNES, and I really don't understand how this nking like this is possible, the EU one isn't bad, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't have a fraction of the attitude the American SNES has.

The strong purple color, concave buttons, the blocky look of it... it's a fantastic console in terms of aesthetics imo. The EU SNES on the other hand kinda lacks charm. The 4 colors are no doubt iconic, but it just doesn't scream "console" to me and as good looking as the controller is the lack of concave buttons is just worse. What do you think, Era?

Yes, they do. Yes, they're crazy. They each have a different appeal. I like both equally even though I had the US one since I'm, well, from the US.

I like the smoothness of the European model and the Super Famicom, but the American version has a kind of industrial charm to its design.

It's fine, but if you grew up with the four colours instead it comes acrossa touch plain, grey and lilac aren't exactly hype

I think the U.S version looks OK, but the Euro/JPN model looks better. I especially love the colored buttons and logo.

Absolutely. I'm really lucky to own a Japanese Super Famicom and an European SNES Mini.

I don't think it's ugly at all, really. But the Super Famicom is the best looking console ever made, so it's just hard to compete.

I prefer Europe's colors, but NA's design. The buttons on the European console are ugly imo.

I'll never get it either. This design looks way, way better and it even aged better. The European one looks plain, ugly, and old.

It's like saying Sega Genesis model 2 looks better than model 1, y'all have some weird ass taste.

US
The EU one looks better, but that doesn't mean the US one is ugly. I think it looks awesome. EU's is just... awesomer.

I don't like the ResetEra color scheme on consoles.

Go away DarkTheme people

Yea the US SNES is pretty hideous. When I first saw it I thought it was some cheap knockoff.

I like it. What's more important to me though is the controller, the 2 convex + 2 concave buttons >>>>>>>>>>>> 4 Convex by a long shot

Yeah the American one is pretty ugly. The new-style one was a little cuter but it still took those horrific, angular US cartridges so it wasnt as nice as the Super Famicom Jr.

The purple is alright. Not better than the SFC colors, but not much worse.

The concave buttons are atrocious. I don't know how we dealt with those.

The US SNES looks more like a toy than the SFC/EU model, which looks more like something that belongs next to a TV and VCR.

You use light theme, so you can't be trusted.

The Super Famicom/European build is better but I would never describe the American one as ugly.

I think they both look fantastic. I did grow up with the US console, though. I had a PAL controller as one of my extras, and at the time I thought it looked like a ripoff with its bright colors and all-convex buttons.

I still REALLY like the detail of the concave X and Y buttons.

As for the console designs, both go for very different things. I appreciate the soft lines on the SFC, but I also really like the sliding power and reset switches on the US SNES, along with the postage stamp-shaped underside.
