Do we understand Doxing is wrong?

As for all of these people on twitter or YouTube getting fired/disciplined because they're outed as racists, neo Nazis, etc, no sympathy for them

Doxing due to disagreement, suspicion etc. is totally unacceptable. Most people should understand that releasing the address, phone number and other private information of another is abhorrent.

Does it count when people posted all the names of people at the Charlottesville Nazi march? I don't think it should count, they showed up in public without masks.
Doxxing, which is stripping someone's anonymity by linking their internet activity to a name and a face and possibly an address or bank account, is completely wrong, as it is a violation of privacy. Reporting on public behavior, on the other hand, is fine. Public behavior, by definition, is behavior of which we are generally aware. If you stand out in public with torches and nazi flags, someone's going to name and shame you, and that's not doxxing.
Hopefully a zero-tolerance policy is enforced on the forums. It shouldn't matter how much the community hates a person.

Yeah I agree with all this for sure. Although even if someone already has a public face the address and stuff should still be off limits.
I think I generally agree, although I'll note that some newspapers sometimes report addresses of criminals if they pose a public threat (generally in the case of pedophiles and rapists). Sort of an edge case, though.

You might screw up and ruin an innocent guys life. They also dox back and have a violence/harassment/swatter streak.

In my personal opinion its a grey area. I don't support it, but like..I don't think legit white supremacist should go out and march without consequences. But then I also think of you give an inch and suddenly people are instantly going to other peoples employers to get them fired over what I think is often trivial shit that they don't agree with.
And THEN you also have the aspect of the wrong people getting accused in online witchhunts.

Nothing good is going to come out of this thread. Doxxing is against our terms of service and whether or not they think it's wrong, they will be reprimanded for it. There's nothing to discuss here because it's extremely simple. Morever, posting a thread just to find people you disagree with is also wrong.
