Fate/stay night was cool for its time but now the series is absolute shit with the rampant Saber clones, underage lolis that would make Nowi blush and and the fact that now all the historic figures turned out to be barely clothed T&A's

So... yes, Fate is a videogame series but she is never going to happen in Smash kiii

Fate is a video game series originating from Doujins scene. I'd say it doesn't have the same iconic aspect as something like Touhou Project which started from the same place.

Which in my opinion is on the same level as Fate in terms of franchises, but still respectable to add into Smash.

It's not going to happen but it would absolutely wild if Saber gets into Smash and everyone pretends they never heard of Fate/Stay Night before

Edit: thinking about it, you'll have better luck wishing for FSN to get added to BBTAG

Visual novels are video games...so yeah? Type Moon is a multimedia company, so they their IP go through tons of different avenues but of course they could be considered a video game company as well.

Now that Nasu has "BB" under his belt to collaborate with third party game companies, i really do want a Fate Arc system works title. I'm honestly surprised Grand blue got to it first

I consider Nasu on the same level of visionary regarding writing as Yoko Taro, so with YT getting more relevant in gaming through a large success, i'd love for a Type MOon game to go through the same thing that in the mainstream gaming sphere.

Does Fate have any interactive elements? (Dialogue options, branching paths, etc.) I disagree that a visual novel counts as a game if it has no gameplay whatsoever.

I think the crux of the argument really boils down to "do I think smash will cross the boundary and include a game with porno history". The area here is slightly grey - you can argue that its only a small blip in its overall catalogue of games, and at the same time no other game represented in smash has ever had explicit sex scenes.
The other arguments don't really hold much water (other Nintendo artists have done porn art before, the Fate franchise having borderline adult content in its other media), but hey it'll be cool to see Saber for smash.
I don't think the odds are good for her imho through (combination of the explicit scenes + no shortage of new franchises to add in)

Who is "BB"? And also, is Takeshi Takeuchi still involved?

Of course takeuchi involved...'BB' is the name of the official video game segment of Type Moon that was created a few months ago. It was created to create its own games and officially collaborate with outside third party devs(similar to Japan studio and third party japanese studios for Sony). Seems like Nasu and Takeuchi are ramping up bigger gaming priority than previously.

Fate Stay Night and Hollow Ataraxia and Tsukihime all have alternate paths and different choices you can take, and you need to do certain things to unlock others. Mahou Tsukai no yoru is more of a straight forward story but they ramp up the cinematography like a an anime movie in illustration form. Probably the highest budget visual novel of all time from where i have stood.

Lmao, I can't believe this is actually being entertained. Yes, Smash has characters nobody ever expected from games that aren't rated E. But Fate? lmao

That's just a opinion. Personally I think Fate deserves it more than many other franchises. Fate is probably the best known VN ever created. It spawned a insanely popular mobile game, has multiple successful anime, manga and spinoff games (Extalla Link and Fate Extra are really good).

There are probably Fate products that aren't perfect but every franchise has its black sheeps. The Yakuza movie is not good, Yakuza dead souls isn't great either for example. That doesn't stop people from requesting Kazuma.

Even Banjo has only 2 games that are good, you can even argue the quality of Banjo 2
Banjo was a staple of the N64 and one of Rare's poster boys. There's a reason he's been so heavily requested in Smash. All the third party characters added to Smash so far have either had a deep relationship with Nintendo at one point or are part of a classic video game franchise known all over the world. In some cases both. Fate has neither of these, just because it's a multimedia franchise with a bunch of releases doesn't mean it's popular or highly regarded. Also, reading through this thread I see that the Fate series has had even worse lows than I was aware of.

There is no reason for it to be included in Smash.
