I’m sorry but how can anyone say this looks good? The shading is somewhat charming I guess but that’s about it. The face is just way too soulless and totally devoid of any detail.

No explanation needed

Bye

Here it just feels like the noses were 2D images copied and pasted and then faded the f out of them

In comparison:

Excuse me, the Tactics style is awesome. >:(

No nose is fine if done right. To be clear, there's a STARK difference there between the Tactics art style and the way more anime looking no-nose styles you posted. It's all in the context.

Depends, I think consistency is key for these. It's tough when some characters have noses and others don't.

I honestly don't know whats wrong with #3 and #4.

Looks normal to me.

#3 is often just simply cute when used on designs that way.

(yea yea avatar checks out and so on)

No. It looks incredibly dumb, especially in high definition. It didn't bother me for tiny sprites but seeing big full-sized character models walking around with no detail on their faces makes it impossible to take anything they're doing or saying seriously.

No-nose anime tends to be a bit too moe-ish for my tastes.

That said FFT's art is still amazing.

Not a big deal to me personally, especially in front view facing cases, 'no nose' in side view facial profiles feels a bit more strange however...

depends on the art style

if it is a hard 3d not soft cell shaded 3d model then I would usually not be fine with it

2D and cellshading (and a good art style) makes it fine

but by default I like them actually having noses lol

Comparing FFT's style to the other ones feels like blasphemy. The cardinal will hear about this

That first pic in the OP is the goofiest shit I've ever seen. The proportions are off.

Can we address how utterly absurd a statement this is? Final Fantasy Tactic's art style is anime. What do you even mean by more anime style?

no, it's hideous and alien-looking

edit:
that said, THESE are truly the worst kinds of noses in gaming. Nintendo has a very weird discolored/misshapen nose fetish going on

I'm neutral on it. Certainly don't want all characters to use it but I'm not going to condemn the whole idea from some bad implementations. Only OP's Star Ocean example looks outright bad I think.

I've consumed so much media where characters don't have a nose, that it doesn't bother me. Just a decision.
However, I do dislike noses that are slapdashed on and look weird.
