Did I as a kid? Absolutely. Video games changed the way I talked, walked, and approached all kinds of subjects (perhaps nature, specifically). I was a pretty solitary kid so playing make-believe was important and I'd spend hours playing in the muddy woods behind the fire station being Link or Samus. Briefly as a teenager I tried to dress and act like Leon Kennedy - this was embarrassing and all evidence has been destroyed.

Do I today? Just one:

I pretended to be Sonic more than once when I was a kid.

There was a fight once in the playground and I thought I could take on anyone because I played Mortal Kombat

I can do a good "Whoa!" imitating Crash Bandicoot.

And then there are just times when I'll say something dumb in Mario's voice like "it's-a me! Mario Party 8!" and reply back to myself in a generic voice: "Your name is not Mario Party 8, Mario."

I stopped doing that at the age of 19. I ran down a hill like Knuckles the Echidna, fell on my chest, blew out my back, and decided it’s to stop imitating video game characters before I get killed. I am 35 now, haven’t imitated any video game character since, and I’m proud.

I have a perpetual Max Payne style monologue running through my head, if that counts.

There was something disturbingly familiar about the email in my inbox.

“You're in a messageboard, Yossarian.”

The truth was like a purple eggplant dumped in my brain. Post counts floating in the air, glimpsed out of the corner of my eye. The repetitious act of posting, time slowing down to show off my hot takes. The paranoid feeling of a moderator ready to ban me.

I was in a messageboard.

Funny as Hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of.

I'm turning 44 tomorrow so my days of smuggling cigarettes in my stomach as I infiltrate a Terrorist Held Facility are pretty much over. I do, fondly, recall imaging Sonic running alongside the bus I was in when I was young though. Not imitation I grant you but I am old and take any fond memories I can cling to.

I imitate anime characters more. I make sounds like "hmph" and "uguu" IRL really loud. I also pose a lot like an anime character when I think I've done something really cool. Also push up my glasses like one as well. No one seems to mind.

As far as video game only characters, I do occasionally imitate Adam Jensen's "never asked for this" monologue while putting on my shades.

I'll... I'll say the lines of Japanese fighting game characters every now and then when I'm on my own, under the shower, as a manifestation of my kinda-sorta dream of becoming a voice actor, and as a way to prove to myself that my Japanese accent is actually decent. Most of them are from Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for some reason (including English lines).

Plus it's fun to yell "Shouryuuken" in an excessively throaty voice like Evil Ryu in CvS 2, what can I say.

I used to work with this guy that did spot on impressions of Street Fighter 2 sfx, like "Perfect" and "Yoga flame" and stuff. He'd spout them off infrequently as he worked, and it never ceased to trip me out

Love to do voice impressions of Arthur Morgan, Geralt, Big Boss (Sutherland) and Snake (David Hayter) with friends.

I don't jump or run around like VG characters though.

Count me as another old turning 44 in a few months. But young kids are great excuses for talking like Mario, Bowser, or more recently, Captain Toad.
"Ready for adventure!"
"Ready for homework!"
"Ready for bedtime!"

I’ll pet my cat and say things like “y’all right boah?” or “y’okay boah” like Arthur Morgan.

Topic made me remember something back about 15 years ago. Typical young teenager stuff. I was probably about 14 or 15 yo.
One of the most WTF moment while seriously high I've had, was when I joined a friend behind a school we always went to smoke a bit a weed, when these 3 other older guys that were already there and high as hell started "shadow boxing" as if they were straight out of the Street Fighter franchise. Shoryuken and hadokens were thrown and it was hella entertaining. Then they just bounced and I've never seen them again.

Probably one of my top 10 highs. Would watch again.

The animation here is a bit different from what happens ingame, but I often find myself doing this while thinking, ever since I became obssesed with Ace Attorney during highschool days:

I told my four year old niece, "This party's getting crazy..." yesterday. Guess which game I'm playing right now?

She's a fun kid. I've said that phrase to her a couple of times, then she'll randomly say it to me and then we high five. lol

I ran like Sonic as a kid until I faceplanted and rolled (cousin tried to say it was a spindash).

Nowadays I don't imitate anything aside from one anime thing, and it's more of a habit than an imitation now.

I try to be like Xemnas: he has a deep sexy voice, speaks slowly and uses words that no one can understand.
