Daily:
- 10*1g fish oil (taken at once) -> one of the few supplements with nigh-incontrovertible efficacy, even if the exact magnitude is up for debate.
- Whey protein (variable quantity, dependent on what I've eaten that day)-> I'm a vegetarian, and find it difficult to get adequate dietary protein under that constraint. Currently struggling after an incredibly poor decision to buy a 10kg bag of banana-flavour powder without trying the flavour first (it's awful).
- 2.5mg Dutasteride &
- 10mg oral Minoxidil -> these two are for keeping my hair looking as lovely as ever. (N.B. the latter is considered quite dangerous, and as such I don't recommend it.)
- 2*40mg Furosemide (day and night) -> to combat the fluid retention (and rise in blood pressure, among other unpleasant effects) from the minox. There should be a beta blocker here too, but I'm lazy and irresponsible. I'll fix that at some point.
- 5mg Accutane -> my facial skin is naturally oily; this eliminates that particular problem, as well as preventing any errant pimples from popping up. 5mg is already a low dose, but at some point I'll experiment to see if I can get away with an even smaller one - although there are no discernible side effects at this dose, so it's not really a priority.
- 3*100mg Caffeine (pill form) | 2*100mg Modafinil | 4*2mg Nicotine gum | 2*10mg Dexedrine -> these are for Getting Shit Done. Doses spread throughout the day. This is obviously a four-day rotation; tolerance and/or dependence are a concern with each of these, so hopefully this strategy will ameliorate that. I do try to take a week or two off whenever I can; similarly, if I have nothing to do and can skip a day I will. I prioritise things so the bulk of my workload falls on the Dexedrine and then Nicotine days - for me the caffeine and Modafinil have only marginal benefits for productivity and are mostly useful to mask the sleep deficit I'm typically under. Modafinil is a CYP3A4 inducer so I take an extra dose of Dutasteride (CYP3A4 substrate) on those days, although I don't actually know if that's an adequate or appropriate response. A friend doing graduate pharmacy had no idea either. Oh well. If anyone here knows how to quantify this problem it would be much appreciated.
- 0.3mg Melatonin -> sleep aid. Unfortunately my melatonin capsules are 3mg, so I empty the powder onto a desk and divide it into rough tenths in lieu of properly measuring it, for obvious reasons. 0.3mg seems to be a reasonable candidate for minimum effective dose.
I'll probably add a statin here eventually, and maybe try out piracetam.
What quack doctor is prescribing this stuff for you? Because I have my doubts on the actual medical indications for many of this stuff.
