I expected to get a lot of shit for this avatar when I first put it on, but I don't think a single person has commented on it yet. I guess people got over the whole furry thing like five years ago, though.

There are many douchebags in this forum who will look down on you if you have an anime avatar. I've seen it plenty of times already and it's very strange.
So yeah it definitely matters for some people.

Yep, I avoid these people like the plaque. They're only that way because of the bad side of the anime and manga community.
I hate the whole "XDDDD U HAV AN ANIME PROFILE PIC!!!" culture honestly.

Anime avatars and distorted meme faces (you know the ones) are the only two major red flags for me. I've certainly encountered enough exceptions to that general rule that I don't pre-judge people for them across the board. But on the other hand, the majority of hate mail, angry messages and racist DM's I've gotten come from people with anime/meme avatars an overwhelming amount of time.

If this was tumblr there would be a truckload of unflattering assumptions about you.
A lot of people will ignore or disregard posts if they come from an anime avatar, especially if it's a girl and the poster is male. I know it's a joke in here but it doesn't happen as often in Era as in other places.
For me it's the opposite. A user's tone tends to affect my perception of their avatar over time. Doesn't help that I remember avatars better than usernames.

I've always seen a user's avatar as a reflection of what they like. But only a fraction of it. Possibly. In my case it's a fraction of my likes.
