This is cringest thirsty nerd gamer shit imaginable. If you play this you deserve an L.
I've gotta say, child abuse fantasies like this are totally apart from the normal range of terrible gamer shit. Plenty of people are rightfully fine if a sexy-fantasy game or even full-on pornography sim is made for adults and presents adult-age characters, but the stuff here steps confidently into sinister territory.

When someone defends those aspects of it, and "plays dumb" about designs unequivocally structured to look like children, I know what they are.

That isn't what most people are saying. Perhaps read the thread? It's very clear what the main issue is.
You're either naive or lying to be argumentative.
Yeah, I gotta be intentionally lying, how else can you not clearly pinpoint the age difference between these 3 girls...
...hence me asking why she is labled a minor compared to other similar looking characters.

Marie Rose acts and dresses like a toddler, the developers know exactly what they're doing. She throws tantrums toddler style, she has childish swimsuits (one of them with a pattern of unripe strawberries, go figure).
Thanks, that answers it.

Marie looks like your average college student ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Is it the framing of having her next to the DD Squad that makes so many people label her a child?

Nope. This is the list of banned games from the FAQ:

  • Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library
  • Gal Gun
  • Hatred
  • Huniepop
  • Monster Monpiece
  • Negligee: Love Stories
  • Omega Labyrinth Z
  • Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal
  • Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura
  • Super Seducer: How to Talk to Girls
  • Super Seducer 2
  • Tits N Tanks
  • Mary Skelter 2
From another thread about an adult game:

From the FAQ:

V. List of Prohibited Games

As a general measuring stick, if a game is not appropriate for broadcast on Twitch it is unlikely to be appropriate here. Games that Valve hides on Steam by default due to "adult only sexual content" are also prohibited. Do not discuss these games or create threads about them.
DOAVV doesn't seem to be visible in Steam.

I know, my point is that why isn't this thread locked as per TOS?
I don't think it being exclusive to Asia is against the ToS. It's not unsearchable because of its sexual content, it's because of the region lock. There are other games that have no sexual content at all that you can't search for either if you don't live in Japan/Asia.

For those who follow the DOA series and the developers it is a known fact that 18 is the magic number they use to bypass their blatant use of loli imagery nothing more nothing less. Hell you know the close up face zooms that all supers do on characters? guess which of the characters the developers forceably disable the zoom-ins on and admitted to doing for the fans that didn't like seeing these particular underaged characters violently shown getting their faces smashed in

And yet characters like Eliot and Ayane are the exact same age as them yet aren't immune to close ups of them being punched in the face.....Its pure pedo pandering no matter how you sugar-coat it.

Wtf has happened to DOA? I remember when it was just a fighting game series on Dreamcast/PS2 with some slight fanservice (DOA2 was rated T back then so nothing crazy)Man, the series sure has deteriorated alot.

I mean, there are people who genuinely look way younger than they are. I've known people who were over 20 and still got confused for minors. But given the context I think it's safe to say that that's not what they were going for here.
Yup, I’ve seen AND lived through that shit even though I’m a guy (I got asked for ID up until I was 23).

I don’t tolerate the shit KT does with this game, but on a side note, does anyone know the name of the song in that trailer? It sounds nice

☝

The fact that there are people who look younger than they actually are has no bearing on the intention behind characters like Marie Rose.

All the characters in DoA have these souless faces, like they've had the life sucked out of them.
Makes it even more creepy.

This is kind of a harmful generalization of Japanese society. This series and other similar media are not representative of Japan as a whole, they are a niche product for a niche audience. Please be careful in generalizations of an entire country's culture based on anecdotal evidence.

Japan has problems with depictions of women and women's rights issues, and even ones unique to them, but so does literally everywhere. This particular example is not a fair representation.
I agree entirely.

Japan has definitely a few questionable fetishes that are unique to their culture and society, fair representation or not.

I don´t know any other country with an more or less open "schoolgirl/lolita" fetish which is downright celebrated as seen with maid cafes and even more questionable shops.

You're saying new low as if this is any different than was before. It's been at its lowest for a while. Soap isn't any better than the bikinis

I don't think its particularly on topic so I don't plan to debate this much further except to say there is a very clear fetishization of teenage bodies and sexuality in the USA as well, or even younger. Purity balls, abstinence rings, the entire pageant industry, are just a few examples before you even get to pornography. It's not a competition!

I always thought it was gross, but at least everybody was "of age" (whatever that means in Japanese games). The introduction of Marie Rose to the franchise is when I knew I wasn't going to be able to support even the fighting games much longer.
Isn't it only of age in The west because they increased a main characters age in the west?

Marie Rose is listed as 18 but very obviously designed to look younger. This is done to appeal to a specific audience.
Last time I checked some years ago, the main characters (can't remember their names) are 16-17 in the Japanese version but edited to be 18 or 19 in their bio in the Western releases. Also, about that Kanna character, they're obviously pointing at something with her being 1014 years old...

This game is and always has been softcore porn. I don't play it, a lot of people don't play it, but some people do and should call it what it is. If you're shocked by it but you must be new to the game industry because this game has been on that radar for a long time.

For a lot of people, the concern is more about the growing number of characters designed to look/behave like children. That's different from just complaints about AO-targeted games. And the child-abuse fantasy stuff being in a relatively mainstream franchise (even if the specific title isn't) is rightfully eye-catching.

I know they were "aged up" but I thought they did a small time skip or retcon to artificially make them over 18. I say "artificially" because it was clearly just twisting technicalities to make them legal without changing anything.

These changes possibly only being in Western releases is even worse IMO. Because that suggests to me that they think the problem isn't their characters, it's Western attitudes towards them. And that's fucked up.

Thats exactly what it is. The fact that the same company that would censor a character like Marie Rose in zoomed in close up shots squinting in pain when hit by a super even though shes apparently skilled fighter to "protecc the loli waifus" but A-OK with soap suds barely covering her underdeveloped tits pretty much proves their intent for the character and the rest of the " 18 not 18 year olds".

On a similar topic they just revealed Kula DOA6 gameplay on a stream and what a koinky dink...she too doesn't get the face zoom when a super is performed on her but Mai does...wonder why

Nah, he's wrong, a time skip did happened in DoA4. There's is no difference in ages between the Japanese version of games and the western version now.

OK so erm indulge me for a min here. I just want to clarify what I just saw. Now I have never played this game (never really been interested in beat em ups) but erm this is a costume pack right ? and the costume appears to be foam from the bubble bath ?

If my assumptions are true and this is indeed a bubble bath foam costume pack then I can honestly say I am absolutely lost for words. I mean I am as hot blooded as the next guy but reallllllly ...... I guess I just don't get it.

Yikes!
Screens from this game would be insta banned on pretty much any social media, it's like they're really trying to see how far they can take things before someone stops them. I guess they've noticed where the money is, normal dlc probably sell a lot worse than these explicit costumes.

It's hard for me to gauge the ages of the characters. They just look like anime characters to me. Regardless of their ages this shit is terrible though.
