Dog attacks commuter on NYC subway

Yeah, it's illegal to bring dogs on the subway that don't fit in bags.
Yup. The blame goes solely on the owner. I have a pit myself and would never take him on the subway.

She shoved the dog, which made the situation tense, and did so again after the owner told her to stop, she wasn't in the wrong initially but she clearly escalated things out of her own will.
The man should be punished for assaulting her, losing control of the animal, and not following the train rules, but there should have been other avenues of dealing with it other than getting violent with the dog.

She pushed the dog twice? Did she put her hands on the owner first, or did he? At the very least, it's not like dog wasn't provoked, but ultimately, the owner is responsible obviously
The guy was in the wrong, but the dog was non-violent until she kept shoving it and things escalated into a fist fight. That's normal behavior for pretty much any loyal pup.

The guy got on the train and put the dog on the seat? What? Why? I mean, don't push a pitbull, but... Why would you put your dog on the seat? Did I read that correctly? Wasn't it already on the floor by nature of, ya know, being a dog and walking?
The owner violated the rules regarding large dogs on the train. He also shouldn't be having his dog take a seat that's meant for humans, especially if so few seats are around.
The lady also shouldn't push dogs in general - be it on a train or not, a pit bull or not, etc.

The dude was clearly breaking the rules. He should be glad the dog only got her shoe and nothing more serious. Hopefully they find him and fine him.
People should only be able to own dogs of the size which they can control in such situations and because pit pulls are so fucking insane and strong when they attack, they aren't controllable anymore.
The owner was in the wrong for taking their dog on the train to begin with, but I feel like this wouldn't have been an issue if the woman didn't shove the dog twice. Dogs that aren't in the least bit aggressive are still typically very defensive of themselves and their owners. Being 'attacked' (in the dogs mind) and seeing their owner distressed with the same person would set off many dogs. Overall a sad situation where everyone involved should have known better.
I'm not whining about the thread. This is objectively not newsworthy. People get bitten by the dogs all the time.
Lots of things happen all the time that are still news worthy.
On my way home from work Monday a woman brought her pit bull on the subway. Almost everyone there looked like they wanted to knock some sense into her.

Maybe on local level, but even then it's a stretch. According to google about 3,287 people die in road accidents every day. And each of those stories is waaaay more important than this. If you want to talk about Subway safety and policies that's fine. But we at least need to know how often these things happen.
Sure. I mean there are millions of people who take Subway. And some take dogs with them. Statistically it has to happen often.
If you read the article it's more like the owner attacked this woman and then the dog jumped in and grabbed her shoe to stop the fight. The owner shouldn't own any pet. Obvious that he has no idea how to have a dog and is just using it as an accessory. He's not giving any commands to let go and just yanking on the dog.
