Everytime I see Sen. Kennedy, I keep seeing him as that one old guy from the Tales from the Darkside epside, "Case of the Stubborns" who dies, but isn't willing to accept he's dead until he sneezes his nose off.

anyone who tells you that the "antisemitic tropes" smear had nothing to do with this is lying to you and/or themselves. If you endorsed that, you are at least in some small way responsible for what she's facing now. Period.

The send her back video....wow. A full blown White Supremacist Rally in the United States of America in 2019 led by the President. I am disgusted to be an American. To all of those that still have Trump supporters in your orbit, now is the time to cut them out of your lives. If they still support this they are outright racist. There is no dog whistle anymore this is just overt racism.

"So interesting to see 'Progressive' Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run.

Weirdly enough if he cut this one down to the first half it might've ended up being one of the most truthful things he's tweeted in the past several years.

No, fuck that.

This is 100% on our racist rapist-in-chief.
Nope, they made her a target with the disengenuous "anti-Semitic" label and refused to defend her. Pelosi has also downplayed and disrespected the Squad publicly at many a turn.

What's been going on the last week with The Squad vs Dems/Reps is a good example and microcosm of both White liberal and conservative racism. We even had some classic plays run by Dems and Liberals, from being appalled at AOC for merely mentioning racial insensitivity (she was right) to unanimously condemning the "real racism" of Trump yet never self-reflecting on their own problematic biases. The Dems owe The Squad a huge apology.

They were white supremacist rallies back in 2016 too though. I seem to remember folks feeling like we were exaggerating to call them that but hindsight 20/20, etc.

I always thought they were too but most of the time it was dog whistle stuff he would try to weseal his way out. Tonight was just overt masks off of these people they don't give a fuck and are proud to have a leader that emboldens their white supremacy.

People like Omar and AOC are in serious danger of assassination. These aren't "normal" smear campaigns from the right. Omar and AOC aren't just seen as political opponents, they are seen as enemies of the entire belief system of the Republican party.

I wonder how long it'll be before some deranged white supremacist makes an attempt on these congresswomen's lives, encouraged by all this coming out of their supposed president.

AOC was already on the hit list of that coast guard white nationalist who was arrested.

I agree with this, with the caveat that by the time the "tropes" shit had started, the Right may have already been in the "impenetrable to all facts" zone, and responded as they did no matter whether centrists capitulated or not.

Lol how is this even legal

It's safe to assume that the secret service knows that very well and has extra detail for them. AOC's office is regularly harassed by nutjobs

It's safe to assume you have no fucking idea what you are talking about since the secret service doesn't protect members of congress.

I'm no lawyer but surely this is defamation?

The claim comes from a Somali Forum, think of it like the Somali version of 4chan. It was then picked up by Breitbart, which is how Trump caught wind of it, and blew up to what it is now

libel laws in America are quite accomodating. My understanding is you have to make a factually incorrect statement about someone. There is a lot of talk is not factually incorrect . There is a lot of talk in the right wing wacko circles about this . So legally I dont think anything can come of this yet unless he says shes done it etc. AFAIK im sure legal ppl here will know more.

Also not a lawyer, but he did call it a "fact", which imo is effectively making a truth claim, not just relaying the existence of a rumour.

Can we finally call him Führer now. And yes, I'm fully aware that his dim witted base would use this term totally unironically

I believe you also have to be intentionally trying to tarnish somebody's reputation....but also not a lawyer.

The right was impenetrable to all facts a long time ago, and racist attacks on a black hijabi Muslim woman who doesn't love Israel and US foreign policy were inevitable.

What wasn't inevitable was the context in which those attacks occurred. By embracing the "antisemitic tropes" smear, Dems did two things that played perfectly into the right's hands: they signaled that Omar was so far beyond the pale that they wouldn't defend her, and they sent a message that Omar had a set of values that were alien and antithetical to what Real Americans believe. The latter in particular is at the heart of Islamophobia, and "Muslims irrationally hate Jews" is a well-worn Islamophobic trope, so the whole affair was incredibly damaging and legitimized much worse attacks from the right.

Yes.

I hear there is a lot of talk about Donald J. Trump wanting to fuck his own daughter Ivanka Trump. But I know nothing about it.
I hear there is a lot of talk about Donald J. Trump being good friend with an alleged pedophil. But I know nothing about it.
I hear there is a lot of talk about Donald J. Trump saying to a pornstar he was paying to fuck (or so I heard, but I know nothing about it) that she was beautiful and looked like his daughter Ivanka Trump. But I know nothing about it.
I hear there is a lot of talk about Ivana Trump, ex-wife of Donald J. Trump, accusing him of rape but then dropping the term "rape" later on while saying her description of the sexual agression was correct. But I know nothing about it.

What a piece of shit.

Ugh, the investment bankers next to me are talking about how Omar married her brother.

Working with conservatives is becoming increasingly difficult.
