ResetEra's Dota 2 Hangout
This OT (Official Topic)thread is mostly talking about the Dota 2 Pro scene, but we also play dotes.

A community-made New Player tutorial is launching along with streamlined shop, New Player mode, New Player Rewards, Flexible Coaching, Returning Player calibration along with Smurf Banning patch was just revealed and Valve has added an Overwatch system like in CSGO where trusted reviewers can decide if a player is actively griefing or just playing according to their skill level. You used to be able to report people for anything or nothing and players would get punished for no reason.

How long is Dota 2? | HowLongToBeat

How long is Dota 2? HowLongToBeat has the answer. Create a backlog, submit your game times and compete with your friends!
Spoiler: The game never ends, you can never finish it.
Dota 2 is one of the hardest most complex multiplayer games on the market to master and by far the most toxic of gamer communities. I would say it takes minimum 10-20 hours to understand what is going on and a lifetime of figuring out obscure tricks to become more efficient. Fair warning: if you can stand the toxicity and difficulty curve, it can eat up a thousand+ hours of your life if you stick with it. I know a lot of people barely play a game more than 10 hours but at the same time there are also those who have uninstalled or removed the game from Steam because once you get going it really spikes those gaming pleasure centers in the brain like nothing else.

If you are new to Dota 2 and want to give it a whirl I would highly recommend these subreddits:
/r/LearnDota2 (Learn the basics)
/r/dota2tutor (Find a tutor or students)
Skip the shithole that is /r/dota2 and don't buy cosmetic items
Newish discord DotaFromZero
https://redd.it/oqro4c

Our Dota ERA Gaming Hangouts thread is mostly complaining about professional scene or low/mid level play, but we can answer most basic or beginner questions. The game is a 30+ GB install so I highly recommend using that download time to skim the basics instead of diving in, many Dota things are counterintuitive and unlike traditional AAA videogame play or even rival MOBA League of Legends.

Guilds
If you are a regular player or like to earn free Guild/Dota+ points/cosmetics contact either myself or Lausebub if you would like to join Era's NA or EU guild respectively. You don't have to be physically in NA or EU, but regular playing is important. It really sucks having to kick people but if you are afk for like a month - sorry.

The International 2021
Now they are unsure if/when tickets will be sold****
New location Bucharest National Arena October 7-17***
For anyone interested in making the trip to Romania reddit has a good guide to newcomers https://old.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/og4gnm/bucharest_survival_guide_ti_edition/
In the past TI tickets are usually $40-100 for the first 4 days and $100-250 for the final weekend
Buying at the event usually ends up being cheaper for the first 4 days and much more expensive for the final 2 days.

Planned for August 5-15, 2021 in Stockholm, Sweden - but situation is fluid*
Likely not in August or in Sweden**

So... what kind of economy changes are necessary to bring back hard scaling cores into the competitive meta? I wanna see some Chaos Knights one-shot squishy supports.

Shadow demon and elder titan need buffs/reworks, they're just garbage to play
Also most heroes with 2/3 passives need some merging (hello WK)
