Right now I'm confused (and I was coming here to ask this question). What's post game? I beat the dragon and it put me back to the start of the game. Is it post NG+ game?

You are in what people call post-game (though post-dragon makes more sense)—it's actually the period between dragon and the final few quests. A good time to do BBI or grind everfall. Just return to Gran Soren (I think you have a quest for it) to continue. There is no post-game after these next quests, just ng+

I literally got dumped back to my house after I'd beaten the dragon, and Gran Soren is unchanged. I wonder if this is because I switched to hard as soon as I was able? >_<

dumped in the house thing is what happens, it's normal.

the city (interior) of gran soren is unchanged? something is definitely supposed to happen there

I've just realised what I've done. Switched to hard before I actually got to NG+... so I'm not actually in NG+! Would also explain why I can't buy port crystals from The Black Cat.

EDIT: Yup. I guess I can stop using a guide on this run then...

EDIT: the storyline dragon is a good guaranteed way to skip expensive star upgrades

Yeah, the story dragon is great to get your pawn's junk dragonforged in one go too if he/she's a class you don't know how to play well. I need another DD port somewhere so I can finally do a 100% sorceress run and learn how to play that class.

Also, I didn't realize this until the PC version but the BBI arena rooms are a good place to grind dragonforgedness since you can just leave and come back in to roll new monsters until some drakes/wyrms/wyverns show up, picking up some decent experience and materials along the way.

So when I originally played, I never bothered with getting better gear than the standard offerings. Right now I'm at the point where i need to start doing quests for the fight with Greg the Dragon. Based on what I've looked up, I need to give Caxton an idol? All I have are silver and bronze. Or should I just grind out everfall and then hit BBI?

I guess what I'm asking is, where's the cool looking and stronger armor and gear in the game.

Yeah I was planning on doing Everfall stuff for a bit, to grind for xp and vocation building before hitting BBI. I have the most fun with Warrior because I like being a big dumb giant sword wielding moron, but I do have Mag Arch maxed out because I heard BBI relies more on magic damage than melee.

I love playing warrior, but it is pretty frustrating for BBI so you do want to have another option in your pocket.

As for the gold idol, there is a quest you can get talking with Fournival that involves taking Symone around - not sure if that would still be available to you. If you meet very strict hidden criteria during the quest (seriously, check a wiki about the "Escort Duty" quest before even trying it) and talk to her after, she will give you a gold idol. I don't know what point that becomes unavailable, and it must also depend on how you handled the trial.

Anyway, Everfall and then BBI gear should way outclass the stuff it unlocks. I'm pretty sure you can buy the dragon weapons off an everfall shopkeeper, so yeah. It's more like a completion thing of getting that single golden idol that is available each playthrough to fully unlock Caxton and then Madeleine's shops.

I read up on how to get the gold idol and said fuck that, haha, since it seemed precise with how you had to do some chase with the daughter or some shit. Not interested. And thanks for reminding me, I forgot there was a merchant in the everfall. I always just go to Caxton to drive my gf mad with MASTERWORKS ALL YOU CANT GO WRONG and she loses it.

Speaking of which, does anyone else here have family members or friends that are in the room and get annoyed by pawn chatter as well? I actually enjoy driving people insane by telling them, how will I know what wolves are weak to?

I only ever put one star (which costs only gold) into gear I want to dragonforge. It grants the lowest chance of dragonforging, but it's worked out just fine, especially with the BBI wyrms.

Pawn talk, I'm totally numb to it. I'm just like, "Oh my slow-witted children... yes the tree is big. Yes, bones that move on their own, again!"

As for other people, repeatedly buying shit from Reynard resulted in being made to wear headphones. I must have been trying to unlock his quest by buying stuff in multiple transactions. No matter how fast you cut him off, you always would hear that first syllable of each line, and the room became a 0 Reynard tolerance zone.

Sweet.

I have 120 hours in this game, not even NG+ yet. Hard Mode. About to fight Demon Dude. I haven't closed the everfall yet either.

Does speed run mode use your character? And can I get the missing achievement for The Hero on there?

Can you save in speedrun? If so I have to do that sometime else as I want to do the backup restore method for 4 achievements.

speedrun isn't necessarily a speedrun. the main thing is that you can't save. it's an iron man mode. also, what you gain in speedrun doesn't get saved when you finish. there's no point in getting loot or leveling up so you might as well speedrun it

So uh... Is there a particular reason known why Capcom seems to be intent to compete with Todd Howard's Unlimited Skyrim Works by putting out a new re-release of Dark Arisen every few months?

"Dragon's Dogma - Now on Steam!"
"Dragon's Dogma - Now on GOG!"
"Dragon's Dogma - Now on PS4 and Xbox One!"
Soon: "Dragon's Dogma - Now on Switch!" (lol.)
Soon+1: "Dragon's Dogma - Now on Mobile!"

Yo Capcpom, where's Dragon's Dogma Online localization? Is putting out a new version of DDDA their way of trying to silence these questions or are they trying to Capcom Test™ interest in DDO?

Speedrun is required for the plat this time around. I made my first run a hard mode run. I missed one quest for The Hero trophy then. I beat the game, started NG+, dropped down to normal difficulty, and used that save to initiate the speedrun, which I streamed on Twitch for a friend stuck at work while I and much of the rest of the country was off on holiday.

Around 2 hours later, my overleveled pair of level 200 heroes wearing full sets of gold dragonforged BBI lvl.3 equipment had finished that one missed quest (securing the Hero trophy), and cleared the run, securing the second run trophy (Ever-Turning Wheel), the speed run trophy (Sprinter), and the plat.

Other than going slightly out of the way for that one missed side quest, I did the bare minimum to clear the game again.

I need to do the last four ones which is based off choices plus the let the dragon eat your beloved.

BTW the affinity system is whack.

Both Mercedes and the princess had a pink glow yet I ended up with Madeline.

Not complaining but I only talked to her like five times and no gifts or purchases from her.

I've missed No Honor Among Thieves and Thick as Thieves on both runs - I think because I've started shit in both encampments before realising there was a quest. I'll go for them in NG+... but is it possible to complete both quests in one run as I think each camp requires you to cause trouble in the other?

You can do both on one run. Neither questline requires completely murdering the opposing camp, but even if you do, they respawn with 0 innate aggro within 14 in-game days, so no biggie.

As for the Arisen's beloved, you can obviously max out multiple affinities, but I think the one that sticks is the last interaction before Denying Salvation. Or whoever you have the Arisen's Bond to, if anyone.

Nice, thanks. I'll wait some time and see if I can grab them this time around then.

I gave it to the princess lol
Yeah, I did this too and she ended up being my beloved. I should fucking think so too after dropping me in the shit with the Duke.

I think I'm finally done.
I beat Daimon at lvl 100 with a ton of blast arrows and those items that boost strength. Without resorting to that would have taken ages. Most enemies eventually turn into nothing but damage sponges.

Yea I have to fix stuff on my MA for Daimon. I can't do squat to him at lvl 105 as a Magick Archer.

Any tips on gear? First Form (First playthrough, Hard Mode)

Thick as Thieves was the only quest I missed out on in my first run through this game on PS4. If you find an Ogre corralled up in the NW areas of the map, please don't kill it. It's Ophis' pet, will never respawn, and it's death prior to the completion of Thick as Thieves will permanently break that quest. I had never encountered this fail state before on PS3, and it threw me for a loop. Thankfully, it's a sidequest that opens up nice and early in the game, so getting it in a second run wasn't a big deal.

I didn't bother giving anyone my Arisen's Bond, and the Duchess still wound up as my beloved. Oh well, better than effin' Caxton from my final run on PS3 years ago. (They're masterworks all!).

Daimon's basically a gear and level check. You can cheese him with consumables and blast arrows, but if you plan on farming him comfortably without having to rely on expensive consumables, showing up with the best possible gear (gold dragonforged, if possible) and at a nice level is the best way to go. I also only farmed him in Hard mode. With GDF level 3 BBI gear and at level 200, I can chew through his first form in less than a minute, and his second form in around five. But working my way up to that gear and those levels, on Hard mode, definitely took some doing.

For first form immolate and climb his back. Hundred kisses on his head & neck. Pop a couple strength boosts and a liquid vim

He'll probably be dead before the vim runs out

Doesn't work so great on second form

For Daimon first form Immolate does the trick. My preferred method is just a little slower. I'm using a Ninefold bolt ring (purified from a level 1 gear) and a Dragon's Tempest bow (level 2 wep) that is only bronze dragonforged. Before I enter the room I pop 4 instances of magick rebalancer and thats about it. I just reapply MR when it wears off or now that gold is no longer an issue I'll pop 4 Salomet's Secret (Fournival has an unlimited supply at 3k gold each). Ninefold bolt boosted does decent damage. This also works on Daimon's awakened form but takes a little longer.

If I keep my real gold idol now and get it again in NG+ can I get the best gear from both Caxton and Madeleine? Seems like that might be sensible as I assume it'll get me the best possible gear per vocation.

Also, is warrior of any particular value as a pawn? Three active skills seems quite pedestrian compared to the other vocations I've seen.

Pretty sure expanded inventories carry over from NG to NG+, so no need to hold on to a Gold Idol. You can make a forgery of the idol and keep the fake for the store discounts it passively provides. Don't give the fake to Caxton or Madeleine, though. It'll complete the quest, but not upgrade their inventories.

Also, nothing either merchant sells with fully expanded inventories surpasses end-game gear. So unless you're a completionist or are truly struggling to find gear upgrades, I wouldn't sweat it too much regardless.

Edit - Warrior provides two awesome passive augments. Bastion, available immediately, greatly reduces damage from incoming physical attacks. I have this perma-equipped on both my Arisen and Pawn. The second augment, learned at the final vocation rank, is called Clout. This one greatly increases physical damage done to foes. Another perma-equipped augment for my phys-spec Arisen. Not my magick-spec Pawn, though.

Warrior is by far my least favorite vocation to play, and the only one of the nine I outright hate. But those two augments are incredible.

Edit 2 - The magickal equivalents to Clout and Bastion are, IIRC, called Acuity and Awareness respectively, and both learned from the Sorcerer vocation. Awareness is another augment I have perma-equipped on both. Acuity is only on my Pawn.

I still intend to max it out, but I'm levelling it on my pawn while I finish up sorcerer on my arisen and it doesn't look terribly interesting.

Warriors can do a ton of damage, are good tanks if specced properly, and can also draw aggro. I usually try to have one in my party. But goddamn are they annoying to play as. And I always hated that they were limited to only three active skills. Mages and Sorcerers get a full six with only one weapon type, so why not Warriors? I don't think they'd be OP.

Warrior was a grind to play as, but I soldered though it.

Having killed the dragon, is it better to farm everfall for now, or hit up bitterback? I did a bit of BB< but it seems bosses take forever as equip.

I'm in the same situation, I recently beat Greg and now I'm just grinding everfall for now. I enjoyed Warrior but now in post game, it's just too slow for me so I'm going back to Magic Archer, but now I'm using Mage and Sorc for a little bit to bring up those magic stats.

Also, I was checking my trophies, never got Dukes Manse. Only last night did I discover it, along with another magic spring. This game just keeps on giving.

Duke's Manse is tied to a series of sidequests related to the Duchess. There's a very, very small window of opportunity to START this chain of sidequests, right after you get summoned to the Duke's Court for the first time. Once that window is passed, your only option is NG+.

Everfall is a good warm-up for BBI, but know that most of the end-game Everfall gear is also available fairly early on in BBI (some pieces are exclusive to Everfall), and that mid-tier and late-tier BBI gear is the best the game has to offer.

Yeah I'm not worried about the quest itself, it was just crazy to discover something I never did in my previous playthroughs, and I just happen to be wandering around the world, light grinding and just fighting anything for fun.

What's the go-to for money? I'm bad with hoarding and not selling anything for fear it might be an item used for enhancements, but I'd like to still buy the best current gear available so I don't get my ass completely handed to me while I'm doing Everfall and BBI stuff and then gaining the better gear.

Unneeded dupes of BBI gear will net you stupid amounts of money. Granted, I started with BBI before doing the main game, but I walked into Gran Soren with over 80 million gold. I never bothered selling mats, consumables, or incidental goods like that.

I just started this on PC despite buying it years ago. A few questions:

Anyway to dodge attacks? I am a strider and I feel completely stupid when I end up tanking some attack I see from a mile away. Also, the pawns are really frustrating so far. I am completely reliant on them for healing and enchanting, and they seem to get overwhelmed quite easily and only end up doing one. I feel like this is FF12 without the ability to have smart AI.

I believe the dodge roll and double jump applies to all of the "yellow" classes; either pure (such as Strider and Ranger) or hybrid (Assassin, Magickal Archer). For the hybrids, only when equipped with the "yellow" weapons, though. So if your Assassin is rocking sword & board, no rolls. Ditto with a Magickal Archer using a staff (though at least you get levitate, then).

The grind is becoming MMORPG like and I think I need a break.
I am trying to forge my bow because my damage kind of sucks as MA. Dragon's Tempest. 3 star upgraded. First I tried offline ur and wyrms...no chance for weapon but my armour practically all did.
I just spent hours farming cursed dragon which has turned out to be the worst investment, especially with time, due to the fact it only forged my 1 star upgraded armour and never my weapon. I killed it 5 times and it takes WAY longer to kill the wyrm and ur dragon (offline).

Freaking bow is 3 stars, 5 cursed dragon kills that take more than 2 minutes, and all I got was 1 star armour forged. Thanks but no thanks, I am too old to farm like that (which I did a lot in MMORPGS).
