Of course he doesn't automatically save anything, but we can be happy that Bandai Namco might be on our side and there's someone like Harada there supporting us.
Since official events haven't been touched, likely the greedy assholes who want money can't cancel Bandai Namco events because they have the rights to Dragon Ball.
If the World Tour expands to include more sagas/radar events and such then the cancelled events might be negligible.
Or Bandai who's likely suffering from losing free advertising to their game and maybe sales, might try to negotiate with who's being a douche to stop the situation.

In the absolute worst case scenario, this means we at least have a mediator now. One with a strong bias toward the FGC no less. That's not exactly a bad thing if that's the worst case scenario. I believe this means more, but it's still good news in any scenario.
what's the best way to get back into this game for someone like me who doesn't play it since it launched nearly a year ago?

I'd say pick a team of character's you like. If you want to know rather easy characters, SSJ Goku, SSJ Vegeta, Bardock and Goku Black fill the role.
Learn the your universal bnb, note that this works on almost all of the cast. Here's a video explaining:

Down heavy is your friend and you'll get a bunch of use early on since beginners tend to super dash a lot and down heavy counters it.
Then play some and get a sense of thing's. If you have any questions feel free to ask, it's easier to answer specific questions.

Ran into another rage quitter after I bodied 2 of his characters early on. I wish ArkSys would penalize players who quit mid match and award the opposing player a W.

2 or 3f, but it's still pretty different than offline play. As long as it's stable it's playable. I'm okay with 4 or 5f if it's stable against people I know, but if it's randoms I pretty much just end it after 1 game.
You must be talking about NLBC, that's a weekly. I tend to avoid them, not sure if I ever added one.
It's definitely coming, the game sold too well and it's far too soon to make version 2.0.
The question is how many characters will it be and how risky will their choices be. I fear another Base Saiyans type pair with Movie Broly and Movie Gogeta coming, which personally wouldn't please me.
Give me Muten Roshi and Janemba! Kefla's abs would do as well.
The World Tour Final is two weeks later..., look most of the stream being Xenoverse stuff with Hiroki saying "look forward for news at the World Tour".
Honestly announcing a Season 2 coming and hyping a trailer for the World Tour would be the smart thing to do. Good way to build hype.

C'mon Gotenks is one of the more interesting characters in the game. Don't remove one of our only gag characters, game's needs more of them it's freaking Dragon Ball.
