Anyone know if the season passes have gone on sale for the Switch version before? I'd like to get them but if I can wait to expect them to sell for half price again I'll gladly wait.

Accounting for when I see him outside of majors has likely skewed my perspective (I'd probably complain less if I only went by the listings here).

And/or Adult Gohan and/or Gotenks. I've gotten to the point of skipping watching many fights featuring those characters.

I'm not particularly surprised to have gotten an additional season for this, given that it's become the norm for fighting games and less successful ones like KoF XIV and even BBTAG have gotten extended support (MvC:I having been the odd one out).
I dont think I skip any fights at all these days. I remember being that annoyed with Cell though before he got nerfed. Maybe I was getting there with Bardock before he got nerfed. Gotenks is pure love I could never get tired of watching him. Granted, Gotenks is probably my 3rd or 4th most played character.

edit -->
I bet the reason for only a patch a year is the World Tour. One of the criticisms from Pro Players were patches X time before big events. Seems they are listening. Now if only they can correct the long matches bit, if not in this patch we're screwed.

I don't want a FighterZ 2 any time soon. Give me 3/4 years of support.
Nakkiel was just complaining that the game has way too many patches. Claims its bad for pros and casuals. Casuals come back and are confused what happened. Pros can adapt but are annoyed

Is Gotenks just straight up better than Kid Buu now?

Also, what made Piccolo a good character now?

Nah. Gotenks has the better assist + better oki, but Kid Buu has better neutral on point. Overall Gotenks is better but there's still reasons to use Kid Buu.

Piccolo was always a good character. Good ass air normals, and people have gotten down Hellzone Grenade setups/loops.

Ah I see.

I always thought Piccolo was cool but I found him to be too meter-inefficient to get sliding knockdowns unless it was in a corner - did people find out how to work around this?

They just combo it into assist + dragon rush -> snap, or just go for normal oki without sliding knockdown which is still decent due to Piccolo's orb + amazing air normals. I mostly see good Piccolos go for the sliding knockdown if they are trying to corner carry and have no assists available.

Most of these notes are so hard to parse, only by testing will we know.

Kuririn now throws 2 rocks! Top tier confirmed!
Cooler looks decently buffed, faster beam is nice.

What does this mean for solar flare? Can I combo without assists now?

I don't know bout y'all but I can't wait to logon to turn off the Early ZChange when the patch lands. It's messed me up so much. Coming straight from MvCI it was a real shock having to deal with unintentional swaps if you hit the Assist button at the wrong time. BBTAG worked around the issue nicely since it also has more buttons on a Stick to work with (so its not possible to accidently change out). But now DBFZ will also feel much better and easier to play

I'll probably leave it.
It doesn't bother me, and I like being able to just press a button instead of holding it for a switch.

It's cool that there will be an option for 2A instead, but I feel that would get in the way for me, haha.

I don't really feel like conditioning myself to use a different input after all of this time, but I'll consider it only because of occasionally calling assists when I wanted to switch.

Whelp. They ruined Krillin completely. Dropping him for sure.

don't even feel like playing until kid goku comes out. Man I am FUCKING bummed.

Also these Cell buffs are huge, I think I can actually play Zamasu/Cell/Kid Buu and have fun in this game again.

Kid Buu has no real mix now and putting him on anchor is really bad. Cel also lost most of his tods and bnbs with the L rolling crush change. No opinion on zamasu since I don't play him at all.

Really liking the sliding knockdown on Blue Goku's teleport kicks, same for the faster M dive kick (follow-ups on the H one are fancy, but I haven't done much with that yet). Being able to Instant Transmission during the Lv. 3 should be useful for placing people in corners.

Are there any new defensive mechanics or tech that's been figured out in the past 6-7 months? Getting back into the game tonight reminded me how much I hated the defensive options in the game.

Nah, I think Krillin is fine.

Lol bro they made light clone a smash attack completely removing his bnb and severing his damage in more than half.

His medium kick has a LOT less active frames, it didn't need to hit quicker and was perfect and changing it completely changes the combo timing and he can't air dash after ground rocks for a mixup (opponent could always super dash rocks) and the ex rock no longer tracks.

There are more issues that he has to deal with. I've used him since closed beta don't try to tell me this garbage is fine.

All he needed was, increase 2h slightly, make his ex rock have beam properties so the opponent is forced to hold it (at the cost of meter).

This patch makes me want to just play mk11 now.

I'm waiting for kid Goku but damn I'm pissed I finally had my dream team.

The change to j.236L isn't a big deal, he can still do any combos with j.h into assist.
He can jump and toss a rock and still airdash, but like you said the opponent could always superdash through it, so it always had a major weakness, but yeah it's a change that didn't need to happen.

His new assist let's him be a lot more flexible as a teammate though, since it can play the role of combo filler or pressure extender more easily. How situational his old assist was hurt him a lot imo.

He feels like he's going to be in roughly the same spot.

The change to j.236L is major. If you weren't using that for bomb loops you weren't even coming close to max damage in combos. He doesn't feels like a completely different character.

He's not even worth using anymore.

Goku Black's M dive kick down for a 236HS super cancel during SSJ Vegeta's assist after a launch corner combo no longer works as a result of the property change for that move (only H dive kick), so I had to substitute that for a grounded DR into Kamehameha super cancel into 236LM instead. The new 5S speed-up option made it so that 5H --> 5S --> Kamehameha during corner combos works on any character now rather than just big ones like Nappa (I used to have to just drop the 5S from it on smaller characters).

It's indeed easier to extend corner launch combos with Trunks' 214L spin than before. Damage seems better on my old 18 stuff. Blue Vegeta's 214L/M grabs still don't seem all that practical outside of specific combos, nor do I see much of a difference with his rekkas. 17's rekka pressure still doesn't seem real, his 2H definitely still sucks. Bardock can still get air DR/snap combos on his own (no meter, no assists).

EDIT: And yeah, Cooler's beam is a bit faster now (not as fast as other beams, but improved). The explosion during his 5LLL autocombo sends them spinning upward now, shortening of the 5LL hitbox doesn't seem to have affected the ability to connect after a Vanish. Haven't gotten any mileage out of the faster startup for M dive kick yet.

Game feels faster, at the start I was missing Kuririn's j.M because the hit stop seems different.

Tried a bunch of different characters. Probably be playing my old team and getting a new one. SSB Vegeta as point might be the way. Patch seems really good so far. Bum's Birthday Bash will be on the new patch so we should be getting some action soon.

jmcrofts says he's happy (with Krillin changes). I dont play Krillin so I got no personal stake in this

I happened to run into jmcrofts in a lobby once and have had him on follow for awhile

[edit] Hm, Krillin's midscreen BnB apparently changes if it's a Big character. Maybe he's kinda busted?

I know alongside myself, hexpro99 and blaqNYC on twitter (two krillin tech gods) feel equally as deflated and negative about the changes.

Cool that jmCrofts likes the changes. This krillin is not the same character I played the game for ya know? It just feels so foreign and bad and different now.

Hexpro has a good breakdown on twitter of what krillin lost.

Took a few hundered matches, but I finally managed to get Beerus' special finish on Goku Black in a ranked match. Don't mind all the other conversations going on in the background, it's been a loooong night and we were introducing a friend to Love, Death, & Robots on another screen...

I'm sticking with Kuririn and my team, his assist being usable is huge for me. Should be fun to rediscover the character.

Wondering if there will be people bandwagoning Blue Goku now, would definitely prefer not after no one was paying attention before but also questioning that actually coming to pass (depends on how many still consider the character "boring" I suppose, even with the changes).

Landing a dramatic finish in a Ranked match feels so good.

One time a guy rage quit on me because i triggered the Bardock vs Frieza Dramatic finish on him.

Probably was angry about losing to a scrub like me.

I've gotten a couple salty messages and rage quits with Beerus' one against goku in the past and that's always pretty satisfying. I definitely preferred it back in the beginning when people would at least let the cutscene play out because they'd never seen it before. Now everyone just quits or skip s the moment it starts.

Kind of why I like the haksu against Goku Black so much. It's fast, but it's unskippable. Same with Buu or 21 eating the opponent.

Don't mind much people Skipping it, but this guy straight up disconnected, at first i was like "oh crap, does it count as a victory since he quit before the results screen?!" but it turns out it does count as a victory.

Heh, reminds me of Seth's SFIV ultra where he sucks you in, and you can just feel the other player get annoyed though the screen every time you land it.

In SFV's case, the salt from landing Ibuki's Critical Art can result in people rage quitting as soon as I connect with it (before finishing or even getting to the hand signs).

Forgot the last time I had someone RQ on me in this, but 18's Lv. 3 was enough to do it once.

Labbed a tiny bit, turned off the auto-zchange thing, and hopped right online

My experience:
  • I saw my first timeout ever. Did they reduced the match length lol?
  • Turning off the auto-zchange is feeling so good. No more shenanigans with the game 'trying to help' me. I always hated how you can lightly tap the assist button but the game just zips in your character giving the opponent a free anti-air during lag, clusmy fingers, or whatever. This tiny change has made this game feel way less random (For Me)

Synergy's working out well for my point characters with my SSJ Vegeta/Goku Black shell post-patch, though Vegeta's downward Big Bang Attack works particularly well with Blue Goku's Extreme Speed Kamehameha thanks to teleporting right in front of the enemy during the DHC wherever they're falling (17 always misses with his barrier for his new DHC after it unless calling him in right before the Big Bang even hits). Wasn't sure if Cooler's Dumbass Tree would be able to connect if I delayed it until they dropped low enough, quite happy to say it does.

Damage is indeed slightly better using the forward Big Bang Attack, but Blue Goku and 17 are the only ones I play who can get away with that.

I've been using him for months and he's my favorite character in the game. I've said it plenty of times that people were sleeping on him. He's got GOAT mixup game and he's strong AF.
