To my knowledge, Final Kamehameha first showed up in one of the previous DB games. It wasn't until Super that the move was made canon.

Final Kamehameha has been showing up in video games forever, but he never did it in Z, this is correct.

I guess I just wanted something a bit different, maybe just start it with a different attack and finish the cutscene with the beam. But with Vegito it made sense they'd give him the default LV3.

I'm surprised. SSB Vegito was probably my least anticipated character next to base form Goku and Vegeta, but he looks pretty fun from what the trailer shows.

He used Big Bang Attack and the energy sword against Buu, as well as a scatter finger beam attack. Final Kamehameha first started showing up in the 2D fighting games and was formally named in Budokai after GT "canonized" Big Bang Kamehameha as Gogeta's signature beam attack.
I think Super Saiyan Blue is an intensely ugly and garish form, and the only times I can tolerate it are when Goku is using Kaioken on top of it or when Vegeta is in Royal Blue mode. The regular blue hair color looks like shit without a heavy color filter on top of it.

The darker shade of blue combined with the whiter aura looks way better than the blue raspberry Slurpee color they have in normal SSB mode.

I like regular blue, but I gotta disagree. "Royal Blue" looks waaay cooler. The hair color is much nicer and the ki is juicier.

Not really. They do tend to go with the most recent and up to date versions of a character though with an exception here and there (most likely Cooler).
