So is it only going up to the Cell Saga again or beyond? Not a day one purchase either way, fairly certain that's right on top of Yakuza 7s Japanese release, which I'll be importing for sure.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot launches on January 16th, 2020, cover art looks pretty bad as expected

I liked the Spidey cover and I think this looks bad. It just doesn't quite hit that same level of striking minamilism that Spideys cover conveyed.
Apparently from what someone can make of (judging from Ajay's comments), it's the "Promo Artist Guy", so not directly Yamamuro, just that he's following his style. He's done a lot of work for Dragon Ball.
But having said that, I'm surprised the Promo Artist didn't do something closer to Shintani's style, especially given we've been getting that type of artwork on some other promotional material.
Ah well.
Wow, that looks incredibly unappealing. Honestly looks like it would be the cover for one of those bad movie tie-in games with how bland it looks, and honestly, a lot of those cover arts looked better than this does. I don't like how generic-looking the Goku character art is, but I think it's the solid orange background that's really doing me in here. Just feels like a whole lot of nothing going on in this entire cover art.

Cover aside, I hope this game's good. It's the first time I've actually been strongly interested in a Dragonball Z game.

They have some new guy that literally emulates nothing but that working on the new DBS season and he also did some work on the Broly movie. It's so much more charming than the sweaty new grounds look they go for now.
New Dragon Ball anime is currently heading more in that direction. It's too bad promo material and video games haven't fully adopted it yet though.
Its not horrible. The simplicity of Goku and Nimbus perfectly shows you what the game is all about. The orange background could be replaced by something like this:
I will laugh so hard when it will turn out
disappointing and people will cry about it. But on the other hand, XV still sold despite its shitty gameplay. So this game has a chance.
LMAO I knew it looked familiar for some reason, yeah that's a terrible cover. The FighterZ one was also disappointing.
