How it feels when you've mastered all of the Witch's spell inputs...

My fingers are killing me. I definitely think that the "power up" input could be two buttons shorter at the very least.

i'll see you in physical therapy fellow witch player

do you unlock more abilities?
I dunno. Shinobi is kinda fun but it seems like there is not really a variety.
jab combo, projectiles and the special to lock. am i missing something?

The tank is so unfun, hahahaha.

I also can't stand how Shinobi can't attack while running. That completely ruins him for me.

Haven't played Witch yet. Lady attacker (forgot what she is called) is by far the most fun one to play so far.

<raises hand>....I have zero idea how friend codes/matchmaking works on Switch...Saturday might be the first chance I get to play the game, though. I'm going to try to play for a bit tonight. Note: I only bought the frontline pack for now.
well we can match make by friends, so i'll send you my FC so we can link up. We can DM here if you're on here enough.
also i only have the advanced fighters pack so it'll work well.

Playing as Empress is roughly similar to the latter Z/ZX games as far as solo difficulty goes. Warrior needs some tweaking to be fun solo, the cooldown on his shield move is too long, for one.

have a feeling that the flag mark on quest affects the ending. trying to figure out the exact requirement for each quest will be a bit pain
Is the game fun even in solo? Also does the japanese version has all language? want to pikc the physical but don't want to wait march
for me it's fun, but that just me. if you based on some reviewers, it isn't to them.
as for language, physical jp should have English text since digital is same sku whether it's jp or na release.

This is really fun online. I wish there was a way to change quests while keeping your party together. Unless I just missed how to do it.

I play Shinobi and I just noticed that if I hold down on the dpad/stick during the lock-on air combo it does a downward kick at the very end that adds a fair bit of damage and will send airborne enemies into the ground.

I don't know if this was there from the start and I didn't realize it or if it was recently unlocked because I've been pumping points into AGI, which mentions affecting the number of hits you can do or something.

Well.. that was one of the most frustrating things ever.

Doing a mission online with one other player and we are tasked with climbing a tower and freeing a balloon on the way. We make it up an elevator you can't ride back down and the game tells us the balloon is stuck somewhere and we can't progress up the next elevator until we free it.

We ran the timer out - 15 minutes or so and it was nowhere to be found despite being very obvious the last 2 times we freed it.

That fucking sucked tbh.
oh shit lol I end up with this situation as well just now

I bought the season pass cuz any game that can keep me from diving into more KH3 must be doing something right. For anyone wondering what the quest you immediately get is, it's the tutorial stage turned into a real level.

oh shit lol I end up with this situation as well just now

My party didn't have trouble with the balloon stuff but we ended up getting stuck on another temple stage where we reached a part with lots of respawning enemies and a locked door. We spent a good 5 minutes backtracking to find a key we presumably missed until a connection error happened, at which point I went back to the spot by myself and figured out that it was actually a puzzle where you had to kill the enemies in a specific order to make some circles in the background light up. Having these puzzles and objectives isn't necessarily a bad thing since it gives a bit of variety but it does feel at odds with the otherwise standard beat 'em up gameplay because nobody expects them until they suddenly block progress.

oh ya I've heard about that quest gimmick as well. hopefully I remember about it when i'll do it later.

Is the preorder dlc stuff already in the game? Or is it a limited time only deal

Do we have a physical release date yet for the EN version? Not really sold on the two seperate digital packs especially with space available on my Switch

Stuck with this after not loving my first session and it's growing on me. Multiplayer helps break up the blandness quite a bit

Aw man, got really excited as I like Inticreates stuff and didn't know this was out... but then I saw the local coop requires everybody to have their own console and copy of the game. Got really excited for a minute as I'm having folks over tomorrow and thought "oh damn, that's perfect!" but that ruined it singlehandedly. :(

So does anyone have a solution for the quest with the balloon where it gets stuck? I think it's the third time it gets stuck, as the Empress there is literally no balloon visible (or that I can get to) in the area.

EDIT: Oh my god, found it hidden under one of the jumping pads to the left of the elevator. Went to the elevator, put down the controller to start editing my post, and all of a sudden enemies start spawning (after me thinking 2 previous times how nice it was how not to have a bullshit elevator fight after finding the balloon each time). I hate this game!

Awesome info I've been figuring out how to play Shinobi better and that's just what I've been missing.

Does anyone know if there are different charge moves for Warrior? I thought I saw something different in the previews but I'm only able to do a jumping slam charge move

It's in the "Control Help" when you press +. Basically during Berserk (press A and the Warrior will glow) hold L + Y and then release and the Warrior will do charge attack from the preview that you mentioned.

This game is suffering from Diablo 3 launch syndrome where it's dropping a load of stuff that isn't for the character I'm using. Also the escort mission in the castle with the princess is probably the worst bit of any game I've played in recent memory, especially when you get to the end and you're met with a boss who is just complete and utter bullshit that I can't beat for the life of me (starting to really feel the pain of solo mode with this one in particular). Gave it two attempts, having to do the escorting each time, and I think I'm now done with it. I'll keep playing, but if at any point it tells me I need to complete that mission to progress, I'll give the game up. Such a shame, framework for a great game is there, but given the lack of media coverage for the game and what I imagine is a fairly tight budget, I don't really see any of the major issues with the game ever getting fixed. Playing as Empress btw, no interest in the Shinobi or Witch so only bought the frontline assault (there's a quick QOL fix, don't drop equipment for all classes if you don't have them all available).

Do communication errors occur when somebody disconnects? I've been trying to get that stupid escort mission done and it seems like I get communication errors every single time. I haven't had issues with other missions.

Seems so. That escort mission is really awful. The boss at the end just makes it even worse.

I am playing Warrior and got a +3 axe that has something like 90 atk and 15 crit, so that boss (and most bosses so far) haven't been too bad soloing though. However, if I didn't have that it would have been a royal pain.

They do, when you complete some secondary objective you get a flag, some of them are necessary to get the last missions and ending. I don't know if all the missions have flag though, at least nobody is able to find most of them.

This are the missions with flag so far:

The Ogre Fort
Sea of Tumult
The Frigid Nest
Undying Dragon
Unearthed Royalty
The Castle Burns
Calamity's Portent
Truth in Heaven

I assume that means that:

Truth in Heaven isn't the final mission? I just completed it and I don't have any other missions that showed up

I also have a question about Undying Dragon:

Rockman ZX What is the criteria to get the flag?

for undying dragon
talk to that npc again after you escorted him to his hut. he'll talk about something else instead of the samples

No, that's not the final mission. if you want to know how many are you missing.

The final mission is the one where you fight the final boss and you see the ending and credits of the game.

My friend bought this so I played some co-op with him last night - why is it that you can freely change which quests you want to do when playing with a friend, but not with randoms? Anyway, it was a ton of fun. I've nearly reached the final boss with Witch, but doing all these quests on higher difficulties with every character is going to add some serious playtime.

In other news, I was reading a DMFD thread on 4chan and learned something huge. When NPCs tell you to take a closer look at the stone tablets for help, they mean to literally use the right stick to zoom in and take a closer look. Turns out that puzzles I thought were trial and error actually are properly explained to you... if only they'd just said so instead of using cryptic wording! Zooming in is also useful when enemies drop those poison Blight Shrooms you'd normally just avoid, because sometimes they're actually Might Shrooms that give you a boost to all stats.

Do you unlock new abilities as the game progresses?

Am I missing something here? I cannot beat the Ogre Prince boss. He's super hard for the first level of the damn game. I'm dealing so little damage as the girl with the sword.
What even is the point in having a leveling system if you have to clear the level to get EXP? Seriously disappointed in this game so far.

Didn't see this in time but I'll play whenever.

Are you using her dragon arm? When you have meter you can hold A to shoot a giant stream of flames for massive damage.

Also you do get the XP you've earned so far even when failing a quest (not when you abandon it), it's just that normal enemies give worthless amounts of XP compared to what you get for completing a quest.

So, has anyone had any luck discovering any post-game content? The room in the bottom right of the slums isn't open, seems all there is to do is to grind for equipment. Brother and Sister quest on the highest level is a pretty good grind for getting some decent equipment. Boss is easy and it can be ran in under 3 minutes. Shame about the amount and variety of the missions, the game just sort of ends and doesn't give you any further clues as to what happens next.

This game could do with unlockable passive and active abilities. It's a bit too bare bones.

I nearly passed on this game because of the talk about it being multi-player focused. I took a chance though, and I'm glad i did. While I can completely understand how others may not be into the grind, it suits me perfectly.

Though I wouldn't say the games are all that similar, for me it fills the void left by the GBA/DS Castlevania games where I would just zone out and mindlessly run around killing stuff with the hopes of unlocking a few new souls. The action here feels similarly simple yet great to control, with the primary difference being that I'm grinding stages to gain more experience to make other stages viable. I've replayed that first stage so any times at this point that I could easily ace the boss even at a low level.

I haven't gotten all that far yet, but I'm already thinking about grabbing the other characters and DLC. Fingers crossed that they update in (single-Switch) couch-coop, I'd love to be able to play it with my son.

TLDR: Not for everyone, but I love it.
