DQ needs a new composer bad. There are plenty of great composers out there that can take his place.

Sugiyama owns the copyright of Dragon Quest music. There's a reason that his name is there along Square Enix, Armor Project (Yuji Horii) and Bird Studio (Akira Toriyama). He's part of the project and only will go out on his own, not on SE demand.

When he is actively using his wealth and success to influence and pay for propaganda that downplays war crimes and is happy to use his status to encourage anti-LGBT views in a country that already struggles to understand this issue, yes? There is absolutely a need to stand up and say "I hope this guy does not live to 90 because he has already been given too much time in this world to do shitty things and the sooner he is deceased, the better it is for society." That is literally it. No one is asking for acts of violence or anything, just hoping that nature does us a solid and doesn't delay what will eventually happen anyway.

He's also a council member for JASRAC, the biggest copyright administration in Japan.

He's a really huge name and in powerful positions which genuinely sucks.

Sadly he's not going to get dropped. Legacy means a lot in Japan. Someone better definitely deserves to take over and wash this bad taste I get every time I play DQ though.
