i am glad for the double dipping i beat it roughly a year ago this week and will gladly go again so a new member makes me even happier thinking of going full 2D mode since i beat the ps4 in 3D

Recommended modifiers for someone who likes a decent challenge but don't have the patience to pull my hair out?
Stronger Monsters only, and turn it off after "Act 1". The game gets harder naturally later while the pacing takes a nosedive, so it helps to turn it off and prevent the game from dragging out way longer than it should.
The modifiers were grafted onto the game after launch, so it was never balanced or paced around the blanket modifiers. The strength of the gameplay is the crafting system, so the mods that mess with that ruins what makes it most interesting.
I'd be much more likely to ge tthis if I hadn't already got quite far into the PS4 version (the arc after you meet Raab and Jade). Right now I'm just not sure whether it's worth buying it when I'm not *that* into the general turn-based gameplay in the first place. However I do love the comfy atmosphere and 'bedtime story' feel that the narrative has so I will be considering it.
It really sucks that there was no 2D mode demo. That was the main thing making me interested in the game, but without being able to test it out myself, the game's fallen pretty low on my wishlist. It seems absolutely baffling that they'd intentionally block one of the #1 selling points of the version from the demo.
I'm worried the game feels too big to play on a Switch Lite's smaller screen; like it might feel constrained. How did people like the demo on the Lite?
I played through most of it on the Lite and much prefer it. It looks a bit better too.
I think Satoru Iwata is truly one of a kind. It's thanks to him that Dragon Quest XI S exists. And hopefully, Dragon Quest XI S will be very successful.

Erik's sister makes sense. I'd rather it not be Gemma but that's a possibility. At least it might mean Gemma would get some needed character development.

I'm not familiar with release date delivery from Amazon. I got my shipping notification yesterday. Is it normal for it to say it won't be delivered until 11PM tomorrow?

Amazon handles their own deliveries and they can deliver extremely late, yes. I think the lastest I ever had a package arrive was 10PM

that seems anachronistic as fuck, also kind of lame and reminiscent of the garbage character added in DBFZ.
Erik's sister is so much more interesting as a character, I understand how impractical it is to have her, for story reasons. I'm happy that we are getting both of them as characters for the new DQM game, so I'm fine whoever the new character is.

I was certain I was gonna go for this day 1 but i've been playing so much other stuff I still haven't even finished the demo lol......i'll probably wrap that up this weekend and then give it a go if I'm still enjoying the game....really I just wanna get to the casino part more than anything. this'll be my first real mainline dragon quest although I've loved the couple spinoffs I've played (rocket slime & swords (and actually not sure how much I loved that second one lol)) and the monster designs are such a delight.
