finished the Donald Trump dungeon. posted this in the wrong DQ11 thread, lol

but for real, Mia was yet another character that was redeemed when they didn't deserve it. still not as Vince, but the lack of punishment in this game so far is ruining a lot of these stories. I swear, if they pull some

Post-game end-game late-game spoilers below.

At this point I've killed every Act 3 boss there is, all the Trial ones and earned every wish, Calasmos is down. Currently on the third set of the Tickington 11th book bosses, those can be a bit tough. Only level 85 though, might go get to 99 for a little bit of an easier time. Have a few ultimate weapons in my possession, but definitely need to craft a couple more. So really, once the two remaining Tickington bosses are done, all that remains is the new Switch uber super duper insano boss and then...

And then I'm going to do the whole thing again in 2D mode. Because damn, this game. This game.
Do these unlock after you finish all 30 scenarios?

I'm 50 hours in and still only like halfway into Act 2, and I've only just started caring about mini-medals/side quests, I think my play time will be 75h+ by the time I actually get to the end of Act 2.

I finished Act 3. Took about 100 hours to beat the game. Honestly really loved Act 3 a lot. I liked wandering around and finding tons of things to do.

I don't think I'm going to finish all the side quests. Did most of the ones I thought were fun, but the game throws a few more of the pep up quests at you in Act 2 and 3 and I just don't really care to do those in particular.

I finished all the base Tockle quests, but not sure I'll go for the superboss. I very very rarely care about beating superbosses in JRPG's. Depends on how difficult it is, I guess.

But yeah overall the game is great. Loved it a lot. My only experience with this series is playing a few hours of Dragon Quest VII. Right now I'm riding a DQ high and want to play all kinds of games in the series lol. Dragon Quest Builders 2 will probably be next on my list a little down the road.

Got to the end of the demo today and I'm surprised at just how much I love this game! I saw a lot of people saying it took them 10-15 hours to get to the end of the demo and it makes me think I missed stuff along the way. I got a bit under 8 hours out of it even after doing all the side quests I could find and decking everyone out in good gear. Did people just grind levels to get that much play time out of it or was there more to it tucked away somewhere?

Gonna pick this game up on Wednesday for sure though. So excited to keep going!

I don't know if I was severely underleveled or what (I went straight from rescuing Jade to visiting Hotto - around level 45) and had the hardest fight in the game yet with Tatsunagi in the second round inside Mt. Huji. Took a couple of tries but I got him once I equipped some fire resistant earrings.

At the beginning of act 2:
How long till I get the band back together and play as the hero again?? I'm Sylvando at the moment, none of my friends who played on PS4 have any idea what this is about so I'm assuming this is Switch bonus content??

after beating edgy Jasper: "oh man, that's six Spectral Sentinels all dead, Mordegon's all alone now"

edgy Jasper: Narrator: It wasn't.

anyway I killed the Lord of Shadows with That's Amore so that's nice

Anyway so was it just me or was Mordegon phase 2 easier than phase 1? I took a bunch of deaths in phase 1 and barely scraped through, but phase 2 went fine if not a little long - didn't suffer any deaths, though a couple characters ran out of MP (I was not expecting an enemy Zing!)

Every guide on the Fun Sized Forge is so vague. At 1000 how many arrows are you guaranteed? Is it actually possible to get in the diamonds each time? Is it just mostly random?

Wasn't she being possessed by an evil amulet? And then basically turned into an evil monster? At least that's what I thought the reasoning for everything was. It's kinda hard to blame her when none of that was her choice.

Just beat Act 2, completely binge played it and put in 70 hours since it launched. Such a great game and so much better with the orchestrated OST and the option to replace that hideous default overworld music. The music alone made this play through significantly more enjoyable than my original PS4 play through.

Grinded metal slimes quite a bit and my part level is 70-74! Strong monsters though, but still overkill I think! Still it's fun and I enjoy a bit of metal slime hunting.

Now on to Act 3, I didn't beat this on the PS4 so it's all new territory now. :)

really hard to say. it could just as easily be spun as her knowingly joining him. I was unsure of which direction they wanted to go

Generally DQ handles these things like monster = bad, human = good. If a human does a really bad thing it's almost always because they were tricked or controlled by a monster.

At least that's generally how it is in DQ. In this case I think it's supposed to be the same.

Mia willingly joining Mordegon?

This is the same Mordegon that played on Jasper's emotional state and feelings of insecurity that basically put an even bigger wedge towards Hendrik and essentially turned him into a monster.

I highly doubt Mia joined Mordegon willingly all things considered, factoring the cursed necklace, and Mordegon generally resorting to manipulative and mindscrewing tactics as his MO.

It comes across as a bit too cynical to say Mia was totally in control and voluntarily choosing to make a decision to become Gyldygga.

well you just spoiled one of the characters for me, but at least you confirmed that one of the problems I have with the writing is pervasive throughout the whole game

Finished the Octogonia story section:

what in the he'll is wrong with everyone?! They just forgive Vince and say "it's cool, just don't do it again." He kidnapped people and fed them to a spider!! Why is nobody upset about this? What happened to all the fighters he kidnapped and their families?! They don't even seem to make it clear whether they lived or not. So weird.

They live. You can talk to them afterwards.

I told myself I wouldn't get stuck in the casino this time, like I do with every other Dragon Quest game,

then I played Slime Quest and slots all day while watching football.

Just got to the other side dungeon. My first 4 or so fights all had liquid slimes and I was able to kill each one.
I jumped from lvl 28 to mid thirties in about half an hour.
I think I'll get to 40 for each character and then proceed.

I didn't expect this, but downloaded the demo and I'm kinda hooked...

Wierd because I thought I was past these kinds of traditonal JRPG's. It's really relaxing to play and I love the presentation. Might buy but I'll stick with the demo until it ends first.

Any tips on how to successfully kill those slimes? Or is it just about luck?

Critical hit skills like Thunder / Lightning Thrust.

The Metal Slime family have extremely high speed and defense stats and are immune to magic. The trick is to try to kill them in one hit using a critical or multi-hitting attacks like Falcon Slash or using Metal Slash which does guaranteed damage to a Metal Slime enemy...if it doesn't miss that is.

Tip to anyone that is trying to hit the jackpot in roulette in the second casino:

  1. Travel to Octagonia and visit the casino.
  2. Go the VIP section and talk to the bunny girl next to the tower filled with coins.
  3. Ask her about it and she'll explain the jackpot. At the very end of her conversation, she might say that she feels like someone is about to win very soon (if she doesn't, go to the inn and sleep and try again, repeat until necessary).
  4. Go to the center roulette table.
  5. Bet all on 12 and 14.
  6. Profit within ten minutes or less. I got my first two jackpots on my second try each time and got it around my seventh pull on the third jackpot.

How do you when you've completed an "act"? I'm 50 hours in, everyone is around level 42 and I just opened a port to meet a mermaid. How far am in terms of "acts"?

Got the game for my birthday yesterday! :D Perfect because I just finished up Zelda 100%. Already spent hours playing lol.

I can't decide if I prefer the midi or orchestral soundtrack, I don't even think the midi bothers me that much, dunno why it was such a sticking point for people before. The orchestral one gets a bit grating to me after awhile if anything.

Is it worth buffing spears on Serena? I just forged a Battle Fork +3 which seems pretty buff considering where I am, but I could just as easily replace her with Erik on my team for better damage output.

Not really.

But if you're not playing on Stronger Monsters you can make anything work really.

Changing equipment mid-battle and changing party members mid-battle don't take up a turn so you can just use her offensively when needed, and also use her over Erik when needed.
