Beautiful ending to Act Two - finished at level 63.

I kept a second save for the true timeline. Going back and saving the world and keeping Veronica is awesome but it all feels like a big what-if. Serena had a powerful development and blossomed into one of my favorite characters in the second act... only for that to all be undone. I want her haircut back, too. Or Sylvando coming to terms with his father. It just kinda makes me really sad. Yeah, I guess it is the ethical thing to do, but we got rid of the real timeline in the process and all that growth and those developments. We still brought peace back to the world. At least the Hero gets to keep his memories... still... that was a hard decision for me.

The field theme changing to the legendary Adventure theme from III gave me chills, omg.

You get an item to change her hair, which I think is more usable now that there's a transmog system? Or maybe not, I dunno.

Also, the hardest boss for me on Act 1 was the ice Queen (with stronger monsters). Did she gave trouble to anybody else?

I thought Ice Queen was one of the easiest bosses just because it was blatantly obvious that there would be an ice-focused boss in that scenario so I had already prepped everybody with ice resistant equipment & the ice resist harp skill.

Hardest boss in Act 1 for me in my playthrough on PC was definitely Dora in Grey, but they nerfed her for the Switch version (or maybe they did a patch to the other versions after I played). She originally got 3 moves each turn on Harder Enemies which was rough.

I really loved all what happened at octagonia and the ruins. Incredibly surprised to find out
that rob was your gramdfather and jade the princess of the other country. From all the artwork and covers i thought those character were grandfather and her grandaughter travelling around the world, really catched me by surprise

Having a blast, cant wait to lose 10 hours on the casino lol

Im right now level +50 I was wondering at what level you can unlock all skills if possible?

Unfortunately, you can't unlock every skill through leveling. Even if you reach Level 99 you'll still have skills you can't get. The solution is to use Seeds of Skill. You'll need 73 total to max out every character at Level 99 (as a single seed gives you 1 skill point).

This was the most disappointing part of the game for me. I finally got the last few seeds last night, but it was a total slog. Making it a rare drop from a rare enemy that only spawns when it's raining artificially adds so much time resting and asking the cow about the weather. Hallelujah helps, but it takes so long to pep up, and the monster rarely spawns more than one at a time. It's just so tedious.
Compare that to strength seeds, where with bunny tails, academy suits, pirate pendant, and a success vest, I can get 50+ seeds in an hour.
So glad to be done with the skills.

Why do you need all of them though, is that just the completionist aspect, or is there an accolade or something? I didn't bother unlocking weapon skills for weapons I wasn't going to use, and just hunted around the board for stat boosts towards the end. I found it tedious enough to spend a couple of hours grinding for the last boss after I'd finished all the story content/scenes/dungeons, let alone minor stuff like that. I can't imagine the devs thought many would bother unlocking the entire skill board for all characters.

There's no reason you'd need to fill a whole tree unless there's some kind of min/max thing I don't know about where you switch between multiple weapon types in a fight.

Why not just provide the necessary skill points via normal leveling? I'm not sure why the devs would lock the full skill trees (and the accolades for completing them) behind grueling RNG item grinding.
You're correct that you don't 'need' to complete the trees, but the completionist in me couldn't let those empty spaces alone.

I think it's part of the design that, like many RPGs with weapon skill trees, you make decisions to focus your points on some areas at the expense of others, just like you choose what to focus your rarer resources on when forging or what equipment to buy etc. There's an accolade for it but there's also loads of accolades for the truly dedicated, that many other players would find tedious too. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of the casino or medal/outfit hunting beyond what I find naturally etc so I just didn't bother.

At least it's not like some moments in other RPGs where more obscure challenges/rewards are just locked off if you make the wrong decision etc, rather than 'just' hard and tedious!

Heh, I gave up on accolade hunting when I saw how many of them were related to the casino. I think I spent more time in Poker than I did farming skill seeds.

I'm on the Sylvando part at the start of Act 2 (or new material before it in this version I suppose). Seems like a bit of a pacing killer after the ending of Act 1 had me so into the story. How long do these character stories go on for before getting to the act 2 from the original release?

Though it honestly depends on how in depth you go with towns and stuff. Sylvando's took me the longest just because he's got so much ground to cover and so many NPCs to talk to while Erik's only took me about 45 minutes because it was really just a straight rush to the end.

I couldn't find many ice resist equipment. The ones that I found (-15% elemental damage) only helped a little, and the ice resist harp skill barely made any difference to me. Felt the difference was negligible to be honest.

The thing is elemental resists from equips & passives stack. So if you take 15% elemental resist from armor & then add some ice resistant accessories (which you should learn the recipe for right before that boss) and maybe a shield with elemental resist, you can cut the damage down drastically. Especially with Veronica since she can get 20% resists from her passive tree.

The harp skills aren't great since they only reduce damage multipicatively by 20% (which can go up to 40% with the right passive panels unlocked which you don't have access to in Act 1), but for a boss that only uses 1 element, every bit helps.

You can use the forge to make equipment with up to +25%. There should be a recipe in the Royal Library for the Anti-Freeze Earrings.

I've been slow in starting Act 3, being very skeptical of its concept, but now that I've taken the plunge:

Turns out I love it!

I thought the time travel would really bother me, especially leaving my "real" friends behind. But it is given enough weight in the story that I actually think they pulled it off well. In fact, I found it quite heroic to risk it all in hopes of bettering everyone's lives.

And I really found it very touching to see Veronica again. Unexpectedly so.

Sooo is there a way to get that much seeds later on?
They're drops from enemies in Act 3.

That being said, you don't need to max your skill trees on every character unless you want to switch between all their weapons mid-battle or something like that. By the time your characters are in their 60s, you'll be able to get most of the skills you want/need for a single weapon + whatever ancillary branches the character has.

Even knowing the ending of Michelle and Kai's story it still hit me in the freaking gut.

I don't know much more beyond the snow kingdom orb but this little side mission is one of the strongest I've experienced in an RPG.

Just like last time I experienced it I simply have to put the game down to process it.

I think the fact that I judge her to be an annoying character when we first met just like everyone else judges her as something she's not actually made it all that much more impactful.

Not looking forward to chapter 3 because this was perfection.

I'm being deliberately vague yet spoiler free as to encourage other players to keep going - Act 3 is fantastic and conflicting. I was genuinely unsure as to whether or not I wanted to continue.

ended up keeping two saves and curiosity alone is moving me forward. This game just keeps on giving.

I'm getting more and more pissed at the game. The true final boss rng is so ridiculous. In like 8 or 9 times the boss starts the fight and does 3 attacks, most often killing one of my party members directly. I can't even use the super sword of light or start buffing my party or anything. I got the gear from the Trials and know what to do, but the damn rng is just fucking me up at one point or the other. Anything I can do besides grinding? My characters are all around 68-70. I'm kinda close to just giving up on this shit.

Reached act 3 and its such an interesting concept..

Its like, you can complete Act 2 and essentially "beat" the game, defeat the ultimate evil, save the world, watch the ending and the credits and save that clear data, and when the game takes you back to the title screen, you could very much call it a day, turn it off and it was a super meaty, and complete experience.... But, if you were REALLY super invested in the game, maybe the loss of Veronica still stung a little, maybe you remember Jades little bittersweet comment on those who died along the way and it bothered you a bit. So you load that clear data and find that you can still play on and actually go on a whole other quest to actually do something about that. And yeah, maybe it is a little controversial, since it does basically undo all the development of act 2. But hey, you didn't have to load that clear data. You could have called it a day, and Act 2 would have been your canon ending. But you couldn't let it go, and decided to jump into the rabbit hole to try and bend some time and space. Brilliant stuff, really.

I beat it at level 75, it's a huge difficulty spike.
You need to endure the first turn and use the super sword to get rid of the mist. What you can do is head for the luminary's trial, and look for the rooms towards the end with the Red Giants (not jerkules) and headless cavalry. Metal King Slimes spawn with them occassionally. Use Erik's 'critical claim' ability to instant kill them, you'll gain a level for each one.

There might be quicker ways but that's what I did. That boss is a ridiculous one that just requires you to be able to absorb that much damage each turn without characters dying- it's such a boring fight. I ended up having Erik use Divide and then Critical Claim for ~1200 damage, knocking out the cannon arm first. It's hilarious that the Luminary got the credit for the win in my case when Erik did 90% of the work! :D

I have two suggestions:

Use the Hallelujah + Electro Light strategy to level up quickly. Two of these runs should make you level 75-80 depending on if you successfully kill all the slimes and that should be enough to beat him. Respec skill points and forego rarely-used abilities in favor of stat boosts.

Engage the fight with all four of your members pepped up. Equip Meteorite Bracer (ideally reforged to +2 or +3) to your most agile character. Use Yggdragon's Blessing to ensure you get to use the sword.

Anyone else playing with no voices enabled?

My partner reads all the time so I can't play games with voice acting. I considered Japanese but I ended up disabling voices completely. IIRC it was like in Japan originally?

Does anyone else get a persistent glitch (from start up) where many NPCs and party members skin turn pitch black? Some NPCs are pitch black head to toe, even on their faces, while others like Serena look like theyre wearing a black turtleneck and gloves. Its happened quite a number of times to me but I haven't seen anyone mention it.

I also got more crashes than usual in the past 5 or so hours, still in Act 1. The former glitch was happening way before the crashes however.

Finished Act 2, I did find it funny that

of the 3 final bosses, I found Jaspar to be the most difficult, because he took a lot of actions and spammed lots of annoying status moves and debuffs.

Mordegon's first form was such a push over I felt almost insulted. His second form was more respectable just because it could hit hard, but it was only scary if both his halfs targeted a healer and ko'd them in one round.

I'm surprised people would bail on this game at this point, there is quiet a few plot threads unresolved from act 2.
