Fought the bird boss earlier, stronger monsters still. All the enemies went first and hero was dead before I could act. Managed to rally but probably lost four people and only managed to rez two before I dropped the boss. Crafted Jade the spear from the region and she went to town. Didn't realize Veronica had learned a magic protect skill until after the fight was over but that probably would have helped, not that she lived that long.

I have spent the last three days trying to get 10 straight double-or-nothing accolade. Since then I've amassed 800k tokens and two Royal Jelly Flushes. Still no Poker Streaker. Sigh.

I am sure that when I started playing this game there was an option to move all items from a character to the item bag. Now I can't find it.

Can anyone help me out?
I figured it out. You press X when you have a character highlighted but not selected on the item screen.

So End of Time (Friend of Time lol) said they were testing me to see if I was ready to face Calasmos. Doesn't make much sense considering I had to beat Calasmos before I could fight them. Maybe the 3DS version was different.

Slot machines make no sense!

Does the DQ universe have electricity? Where are the power plants? Are they magical?

Where did the designers of the slot machines learn about monsters that don't exist in Erdrea, like Imps, so they could include them in the art?

The lore! It makes no sense!
there's been neon signs in the series since like, DQIV

i think we're not supposed to think about it

Just beat Sniflheim's boss. Even with the best-suited gear for my main party, it still was a difficult fight.

A quick thought: Rab's Multiheal is a total scam. Sylvando can do better with just 12 MP while Rab needs 36 MP. Also, Hustle Dance is totally required on Draconian mode.
Sylvando has really grown on me after using him.

What's wrong with the Switch version of DQ3?

Hustle Dance (and Stlvando's entire build balance) is one of the biggest WTF balance issues I've encountered in a long while. The MP cost and the scaling with Charm make it totally out of line with everything on his tree and everybody else's healing options.

And IMO, the Switch version of DQ3 is the best English option. Great widescreen implementation, best localization, best soundtrack, very good snappy and readable interface.

I feel like I'm so slow when playing this game lol. My save file says I've been playing for over 40 hours and I've only just gotten Rab and Jade.

I do go out of my way to explore every bit of the towns and overworld, though. I don't want to miss a single piece of treasure.

That is definitely slower than average (not that it matters). I'm not exactly rushing and got them around 21 hours in.

DQ3 might be archai but is still great, but whatever you do AVOID the Switch/Android versions. If you want an upgrade from the original famicon/NES version, the DQ3 version on SFC/SNES would be the way to go imho.

I mean if the user wants a legal option, it's the cheapest way to go.

The main issue with ith Switch/Mobile port is the lack of Pachislot, which wasn't initially in DQ3.

DQ1 and 2's main issue is that its ugly

This. I feel like DQ3 is unfairly being tarred with DQ1 and 2 because all three were released simultaneously. DQ3 on Switch (and mobile) looks and plays substantially better than DQ 1 and 2.

Just finished Sniflheim.

Haha, I thought what happened with Vince from Octogania was rather generous but forgiving Krystalinda was so wild that it looped back around to being amusing. Oddly, this reminds me narratively of Ni No Kuni 2 of all things. The plot there also had an escalating series of asking main character Evan to forgive each town's villain for increasingly heinous things. I suppose forgiveness over grudges is a good lesson to internalize and more wholesome than pursuing revenge but some of the things these characters are asked to turn the other cheek toward are pretty dramatic! At this rate, maybe we'll forgive Mordegon for trying to destroy the world because he had good intentions.

I think
Vince was worse. While his intentions were, I guess, noble, he was willingly sacrificing people to make money... Krystalinda was doing a favor for someone who freed her from a prison she was in for, what? Thousands of years? Plus, she's a witch, Vince is a normal human. So... yeah, both are forgiven far too easily, but Vince definitely actually murdered people basically, Krystalinda just froze them in place for a bit.

I'm still only partway through Act 2
We just beat Booga and got Jade back into the party.
Currently sitting at 36 hours in. I've been using Ultra-Fast battle speed for most of the game and when I go back to Normal or Fast everything looks like it's happening in Slo-Mo lol.

One thing that's annoying is trying to forge higher-level equipment. Even with a lot of focus having the meters randomly decrease because of "magic" sucks. I haven't really been able to forge +3 stuff in a while. My MC is only level 33 because I avoid most random battles but still. I'm still really enjoying everything though and I'm excited to see where the story goes from here!

I forget exactly where I read it in the game but at some point someone described the slot machines as a feat of magical engineering.

So the answer is magic.

If you're running out of focus while forging, I definitely recommend using sizzle puff first, then mostly the random striking bash. That's an efficient way to do the bulk of the work. Then you use the other kinds of strikes for fine tuning.

This. I even managed to upgrade the Wristorative accessory to +2 status before Snifflheim. The witch wasn't too hard then ...

It'll make your hero pretty OP for the next 10-15 hours depending upon the order you do some stuff. I was at the 35 hour mark when I found the same weapon in question naturally.
It's worth it if you have the time, but it's not required by any means, especially if you aren't doing draconian.

Regular slots (the 10-base machines) are way more consistent/efficient than poker, IMO. You can literally just press A for a couple hours betting 90 and make 100k+ — guaranteed, with virtually no risk, due to the way Metal Mode favors the player — rather than the constant input / risk assessment required for poker.
The nice thing about doing the casino early is that you can build up a huge number of tokens early on so that when the casino gets new stock in (or the second one opens up) you don't need to really do much grinding anymore, you'll still have all the tokens you won early on.

Actually if I'm not mistaken the main story requires you to win a few thousand tokens at one point. It's made easier if you already have a few hundred thousand from early in the game.
Thanks! Just got 100k by playing poker and bought the greatsword. Slot machines weren't as efficient to me.

Ant other item worth picking up or the sword is enough and I should move on?

Man, I played so much poker I got a bunch of those nice random items you unlock by double or nothing. Which makes it more lucrative than slots since as far as I can tell, slots are just tokens. At least it feels like I'm making progress if I start dipping into less tokens than I started with. I'm not sure if talking to that fortune teller that says "you'll have good luck on this thing!" helps. It almost feels like superstition, since the difference between when I randomly tried the slot machines and when she said I'd have luck on slot machines didn't feel different. That's RNG for you I suppose.

The NPCs in the character specific chapters have some... iffy... voice acting. And I think the actors who did the Snifflheim accents were a bit unsure the direction they needed to take, so they speak too slowly.

But other than that, the voice acting is great

You can disable voice acting as a whole? I thought it was limited to the Hero only.

English by the way.
If you turn the voice volume slider all the way down, you even get all the beep boop dialogue noises instead. (At least that's how it was in the western PS4 version.)

I'm playing with japanese voices, i already know the english ones from the PS4 release and the main cast was pretty good but some of the side characters were downright bad.

How are y'all playing: Japanese VA, English VA, or no voice acting?
Been playing with Japanese VA and I like it. The game does that thing where they changed a bunch of names for the English version, though, which is noticeable and annoying (Jade = Martina, Erik = Kamyu(?), Serena = Senya, Hendrik = Greg/Greig, I think Sylvando's name is different but I don't remember what it is, and several other story important characters but those are the ones I remember off the top of my head). The Japanese voice acting is good, though.

The japanese cast in this game is absurdly stacked if you're into anime stuff. Even minor characters are dubbed by top tier popular voice actors, like Sugita and Sawashiro Miyuki (heck, I think one of the first recolored minor boss was Seki Tomokazu lol). Played through the whole game this way and loved the performances.

Sylvando is Sylvia/Silvia.

I switched to JP near the beginning because the bad attempts at British accents were grating

I've been using Japanese voice acting. It's a bit more standard anime compared to the English which tries to go in it own direction. Personally I think it fits the game a little better, but that's just me.

Speaking of accents, someone said that Erik's (english VO) accent is meant to be a fairly accurate touch of a scandinavian accent.

So I beat act 2.

Did anyone else think Mordegon was surprisingly easy? I had some trouble with Indignus. Like, when I finally beat Indignus 5/7 of my party had died.

But I had absolutely no trouble with Mordegon. It seemed like he had way fewer moves per turn.

Or maybe it was because I managed to kill 7 Metal King Slimes and 3 Vicious Liquid Metal Slimes in his dungeon between Indignus and Mordegon. Who knows.

What level were you at the beginning and end?
