Is there a list of all Tickington ghost-thingies locations?

... oh also pretty big spoilers in there depending on where you are in the game.
Hmmm not sure let me check.

Also the what side mission the belt from?
A Memorable Mystery
I forget if Happy Hats are in Octogania in Act 2 or 3 but if not, you can get them if you wanted to do the level grinding trick. They're rare drops from Liquid Metal Slimes so I had a couple spares from that.

So I posted earlier how nice it was to be able to explore the world so early on. I unlocked a bunch of zoom locations. Did a little bit more of the main story and the. Docked literally everywhere I could, got to two boss fights for pearls (had a little trouble so figured I'd just return later), got the key for the red doors and then finally did the story beat that led me to the underwater city...only the. For a bunch of side quests to open up in the areas I'd already been to. Not a huge deal since I could just zoom there, but seemed completely unnecessary and kind of annoying.

Because this is essentially my first ever time I've actually made an effort with playing a JRPG, I have no idea if I'm playing it "right" when it comes to the levelling n shit.

Am I over grinding, under grinding? I have no idea haha I'm so used to playing games telling me what kind of level I should be at before attempting something in a game, kinda wish it was the same on this.

At the moment I've just finished the MMA stuff and all four of my party are level 20-21, does that sound about right?

There is no need for any sort of grinding, especially not on normal difficulty. If you want to do fights without becoming overleveled, just fight one of each new enemy you see, avoiding other encounters. If you struggle with a boss, it's almost certainly due more to your approach/build/equipment than your level.

(The above is true for most JRPGs, despite common misconceptions. It's just that people have it hardwired in their brain to grind when facing any adversity, preferring brute force rather than adjusting their strategy.)

If you ever do want to "grind" levels for whatever reason, it can be done super fast in DQ via metal slimes, so don't worry about falling behind when avoiding encounters.

Halleluyah prep time + the smetal slime prep time is busted as fuck lol

Just did it once because i just wanted to see if it was possible to do and stacked itsel but will probably not use it agai till the end game.

Also Bunny Jade feels perfect in both cutscenes of those prep time lol

Just beat yesterday the mermaid story and wow, that was prettt emotional. Sadly i think i read a huge spoiler about something that seems to happen in the game by the end when searching for if i was doing right by lying or telling the truth to the mermaid :(

Thanks for this 👍 I shall continue as I am and see what happens. Whenever I'm in an enemy filled area I've been doing around 5 or 6 fights before moving onto the next part, that seems to be getting me through.

It really is.

The most XP I got when using that grinding method was a whopping 1 million.

To show how crazy that is to reach max level with the Hero you need a total of like 6.2 million.

I have to say Act 3 is a bit disappointing besides the satisfaction you get in the first part.

It's definitely meant for players who couldn't get enough of the game and wanted more. It's nice to see a bunch of plot points wrapped up in a nicer way however a lot of the content is recycled or grindy in nature. Still, I enjoyed the game enough to play for another dozen or so hours.

Yeah I'm still enjoying it overall but some things could have been handled better

So I need to kill a Tentacular for a quest given on Lonalulu but I am already level 99 and on Act 3. I have spent quite a lot looking for it. Am I fucked?

You'll find stronger variants of them in the eastern sea, northeast of Lonalulu. They'll still work for the quest. Just be sure to get the killing blow with the right pep power.

Just got the guiding light again and my characters' stats are back to where they were. Can I grind to level 99 now? Will I lose my progress again?

hey, Luminary. you did all this shit before. why do you look dumbfounded when go through the situation a second time?

you know, I don't mind technically-not-mute characters, but every dev uses it as an excuse for characters to not have a personality

or intelligence

Yes, you can. You could've grinded there in Act 2 if you so desired, AFAIK, and the characters would've been set back to 99 at that point.

Okay I have had the slime quest slots running on autoplay for like 2 hours and this goober will not get out of slime time...part of me wants to see it through to the end out of principle but is it actually the case that you lose all your slime time earnings if you back out before it ends? The message when you try to quit definitely makes it sound that way...

I'm 70 boss battles in and he's been defeated maybe 30 times and always gets back up, sometimes even after the 'end of slime time' screen shows up lol

I keep wondering when
the Luminary is gonna bother telling everyone he traveled through time. I expected the seer to reveal it on the beach but she ended up just being an excuse to get your whale back

he doesn't have to tell them, but he should definitely act on the fact that he knows things already. all the Seer has to say is "go to the watchers" and Luminary should surprise everyone by using the flute. there has been lots of ways to make the situations much more interesting, but they keep it boring and long-winded

Are you at Octogonia, after the casino first opens? If so, just quit. You won't miss out on anything.

Finally finished Act 3, doesn't feel like 4 years since the first NX game was announced. So after loading the save after the credits I'm just back where I last manually saved, that sound right? If so then
I can only imagine the ripple effects of sending Serenica back, haha. Their whole adventure could end up being huge dejavu. Everybody would have to have faith in their past selves to not screw up. Maybe even the hero's parents and Dundrasil would pop back into existence like Chalky's treasure chest. In any case I didn't do the Drustan wishes to live with someona, and it's all just a legend in someone's books. By the way, did Benedictus in Act 2 say he saw Veronica playing the flute or did I mishear?

So I just finished Chapter 1 in about 26 hours, how many hours should I expect to sink in the next 2 chapters at my current pace?

Wow...so I'm a little over 70 hours in and..

Jasper/Mordegon just attacked at the heart and Yggdrasil just fell. I'm guessing I'm still super behind in comparison to average playtime, as I think this is act 2? That was an amazing series of events. What an awesome shift in the way things are going. Gathering Slyvando's merry gang.

I'm only missing the Wheel of Harma stuff and the Tickleton quests to finish the game, and was hoping to at least do the latter, but honestly I'm getting discouraged even though I got all the pastwords. Don't super enjoy the 2D parts, hate how the quests aren't self-contained and require you to book hop sometimes aimlessly, random battles are annoying, etc...

Has anyone gotten around to writing a guide for these quests? I think that's the only way I'd be willing to tackle them. If not I think I'll just grind some and head to the final boss.

Made it to act 2. ~53 hours or so I think (with ~10 of that being casino time). I was all caught up on Quests and Recipe Books, but I only had 51 minimedals out of 55. I'm pretty sure I missed one in Heliodor Castle first time through, and apparently you can only get back there in Act 3, so just said F it and continuing on.

I know I'm going through it for the nth time now but Act 1 is such a cakewalk without draconian turned on. Happy to get on to Act 2, really curious if I have as much trouble on a few bosses as I did on the JP version.

lol apparently I'm playing this game slow as shit. I just try to find as much treasure as possible and talk to everyone multiple times. Looks like I'll be lucky to finish the game within 120 hours or so. Oh well, still loving every moment of it.

I did the same and got around 50 hours. Currently at almost 120 hours on Act 3, so I am sure you will take a little bit longer than 120 hours.

I'm curious about a guide to the tockington stuff as well. I don't mind the 2d elements, I don't even mind having to book hop, what I can't stand is how some quest require you to return to the world of dq11 in order to finish them.

I usually just Googled the name of the quest plus dqxi and found what I needed, but a compiled guide would be good

Use Eight to maintain Buff / Magic Barrier (and keep the Sage's Stone in their inventory for supplemental AoE healing), have either Hero or Erik Oomphle'd and DPSing, have Sylvando Oomphle/Hustle Dance, and have Serena maintain her fire resist song and Dazzle and/or Blunt.

Having only played DQ5 on DS, I felt pretty disconnected from the Tickington quests too. They're so heavily nostalgia based.

... I say this because there was one time the sabercat muttered Bianca and something in my brain excitedly went "I understood that reference!" Probably would've had similar feelings if I played other DQ games at least. Alas.

1. Am I overleveled?
2. Is this the start of the solo additional chapters?

fortunately you can change party members on the fly in battle, so there's no reason not to just use whoever's best suited for the encounter

I'm running an all-girl party at the moment, save for Hero in the #1 slot. Got them all wearing the same outfit too. It's adorable.

But yeah, it doesn't seem to matter who you've got for most battles since you can switch them out whenever. I just make sure to have at least a healer at all times, but other than that, let your heart be your guide...

Until it kills you. Then maybe be a bit more strategic.
