I guess DD will have to wait. I went to my local game market in Seoul, and every single vendor was sold out of it.

So I picked this game up on PS4, but I stopped playing it.

How does it run on switch compared to that?

A fabled hero is chasing after a dragon(s).
The fun thing about DD is that it turns even the basic concept of the chosen one on its head. For one, you are chosen by the dragon due to the defiance and grit you show when facing it, instead of being someone born special. For the other, while you certainly are a chosen special someone afterwards, the stories and characters you encounter make it clear that a) failure is certainly an option and b) there will be more Arisen if one makes the choice of becoming an immortal barkeeper or something.

I've been able to download new (not preset) pawns a few times by trying a couple of times, but no luck uploading my pawn or anything like that.

Not sur what region the copies are, but AU only has Digital - I think only JP and NA have physical? Somebody mentioned this earlier and I was pretty bummed.

Only bringing this up as I've had a retailer tell me they were out of stock of something and turns out the game was digital only (YookaLaylee I think?)

Browsing through the preset mage pawns and seeing first level spells on a level 40+ pawn is just pathetic. I know Capcom probably didn't want the preset pawns to be overpowered, but that's just terrible.

I don't know if this is the same thing you're getting, but I have been able to see new pawns if I wait for the "accessing server" thing to disappear before touching the stone in the rift to perform a search.

I am getting an insanely long, blocking "accessing server" time after every inn rest though. Like a solid minute.

I get the long bar and then finally this screen.

That's true, but the servers are offline right now. See above, several people have commented on it.

Think i'm about 18 hours in, all these years since it originally came out and i knew i was gonna enjoy this game. lmao

I remember playing the demo way back then but i didn't remember the combat and exploration being so satisfying, i never get tired of fighting monsters and the items they hide in the chests are super usefull most of the time. The pawn system is also really cool, i wish there was a bit more customization but i really enjoy the idea of travelling with the companions of other players who can share their knowledge with me, really adds to the adventure.

A few complaints i have is menu navigation being a bit confusing (at least to me) and the lack of fast travel points without using the ferrystones, but besides that i'm really having a lot of fun with the game.

Also can't stop thinking about what capcom would do in a Dragon's Dogma 2, hopefully that happens eventually lol

Yeah I get that message when even talking to quest NPCs.
They suddenly stop talking mid conversation, wait a minute or two, then error. It's excruciating.

I've managed to keep my 2 network pawns alive for now, despite being much higher level now and them collapsing at almost every encounter. I don't want crappy Capcom pawns.

You get that on "real" pawns too.

Between those who barely pay attention and those who switch their pawn vocation, you can easily get a badly setup pawn.

Always read the details before getting a pawn.

I've never seen a real pawn in the 40s with plain ingle or anodyne, but that's like half if the preset pawns.

I restarted my game after starting as a Mage. I felt like the combat was really boring and I know I could have just switched Vocations at any time but it felt like I'd wasted all that easy XP on my mage. This time I went the archer class and now I've changed to Magic Archer once I reached Gran Soren.

On my last play through I kinda stalled here, I managed to luck-out and glitch the ogre in the Ever(something) place off the edge and then get the stone etc at the bottom, but on this play through I'm not quite sure where I should be doing my quests since everything seems to be kicking my ass. I really want to do the Witchwood quest but even those mobs seem to own me fairly quickly.

When can we expect some sales data? I hope it sells well so we can get even more Capcom games on the Switch (like a new Monster Hunter game some time in this decade f.e).

Those bandits kick everybody's collective ass when the quest first appears, just run past them they're not worth the stress.
I've played through the game many times, and by now I thought I could lure them out and pick them off. It went really well until a couple of poorly judged attacks and overconfidence on my part, a couple of swings from their fighter and I was down.

I was able to connect just now and got the message my pawn was out questing, so it looks like it's back for now.

Edit... Ugh it is back to not working.

really enjoying this so far. i'm about ten hours in - playing as a strider with plans to move to ranger and magick archer once i've gotten some more of the augments. so far, ensnare is a really fun ability.

the lack of motion aiming for archery is a bummer. botw and skyrim spoiled me on this.

I love BBI. Really makes me wish they would add a full on roguelike mode. Procedural generation, randomized loot tables, tons of monsters to wade through. Just let me play this combat in a nearly endless dungeon please

Is there a guide for recommended quest progression? I don't really enjoy walking around to places only to find I'm gonna get my ass kicked by mobs.

The recommended quest progression will take you through mobs that will kick your ass. Either level up some more or run past them. It's only an issue for the first handful of hours in the game. You will eventually level up enough that the combat won't be that difficult.

Where should I level up? Just go back to the first town and pick up quests from the notice board? I think that only has 1 escort quest on there at the moment.

Yeah there are notice boards at the inn in the first town, the inn in Gran Soren, the tavern across the courtyard from the inn in Gran Soren and the Pawn HQ in Gran Soren, get every quest off those boards and then try and do as much as you can.

So let me get this straight, it's not just one combat music which is glitched, it's the whole music playing logic which is fucked?

fffffffffFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Come on I get that this is a meme now with all the FF ports with botched music resume logic but IT ISN'T FUNNY ANYMORE.

lmao.

I think I did like 3 of those on my first playthrough, before realising they were a waste of time, on top of being brutally difficult.
Well, they're a challenge at least, for those inclined.

My pawn ID is 73F5-8E35-547F, in case anyone wants to add me assuming the server gets fixed.

I wonder how much damage a person can do to the UR dragon at Max level.

EDIT: Just accidentally discovered there's some touch controls in this game. Tap the mini map in handheld mode to open the full map. Neat.

i liked MonHun World but it was a little bit too much for me in terms of having to keep up with all the stuff the game threw at you and i like a little more action oriented combat. will i like this?

Those guys are super tough in the beginning...i can't tell you how many times i died. But oh the satisfaction of geting leveled up to where I go in there and start taking names...so good!! LOL

Mon Hun as a series has more action oriented combat to me. The core MH game is grind for parts to build armor sets for skills to be more efficient in your hunts. It has been dumbed down tremendously in MHW, but I can see where someone unfamiliar with the series could get overwhelmed.

The only thing I'm finding tough in Dark Arisen is the whole min/max stat growth stuff. But everyone says it doesn't REALLY make a huge enough difference to matter for the average player. So that said, the game doesn't appear to be overly complex. It's just an open world adventure RPG with loot and exploration. But the combat is a lot of fun (even if a bit simple). Definitely a great game to just chill out to.

it's also possibile to cheese them if someone is interested. Just check where you have to go before taking the quest: go there alone first, place a crystal, come back, take the quest and teleport there. Done lol.

One thing I'm noticing about Magick Archer (and Ranger actually too) is that you don't find better weapons for them until much later than for other vocations. I'm still using just a Magian Crutch and a Reinforced Longbow and I'm already level 40. On the other hand I've found about 10-15 or so different types of daggers, maces and staves.

I guess those are kind of intended to be late game vocations.

Agreed.

Edit: I love playing a mage is this game. Hurling fireballs never gets old!

Silly me for accepting all board quests without really noticing :p

One thing I love about this game is the fact that magic is called magick.

It would be even better if they called it Majicks.

I know this must be a very low priority for Capcom, but surely they wouldn't leave the servers offline that long for a game that was released six days ago.

Any tips for combining ingredients? I've got all this stuff and don't know what to do with it.
