E3 2019 | Rules and Reminders

With E3 just around the corner, we know that everyone is extremely excited to watch the press conferences, discuss the news and announcements, and participate in all the excitement here on ResetEra. As E3 is one of the most active times of the year here, we'd like to go over some of the rules and guidelines that we will be observing during the week of E3 starting on June 8th, 2019 and ending on June 14th, 2019.

  • Use Threadmarks – Official thread creators should threadmark the beginning and ending of the conferences in their threads. It is also advisable to threadmark the start of important moments and reveals during the event. This will allow other users to easily navigate and catch up with these fast moving threads.
  • No reaction threads – To prevent clutter we will lock all reaction threads during E3. A reaction thread is a topic about a hot take or some other personal reaction to anything that did or did not happen during E3. Examples include "Why wasn't the Switch 2 announced?", "Did Ubisoft just win E3?" and "I can't believe the leaks were real". These sort of topics can be discussed in news threads and conference threads.
  • Put effort into new news threads – During E3 there are sure to be many notable gaming announcements. If you are creating a news thread about such an announcement please take the time to appropriately title the thread, keep it updated with all the details, and make sure that links and screenshots are included when appropriate. Low effort news threads may be subject to a lock.
  • Do not thread whine / driveby post – This is a rule that already exists, but we'd like to stress that these types of posts will be tightly moderated during E3. Do not come into a thread, write something deliberately provocative, and bail out. Do not complain about the existence of a thread either; ignore it altogether if you have nothing to contribute.
  • Don't bump pre-E3 threads – Please do not bump old threads with new announcements or news that comes out during E3. Either post new news in a brand-new thread or in a thread that was created specifically to discuss that conference.
  • Use the report button responsibly – This is another rule that already exists, but bears repeating considering the level of activity during E3. Please make sure that you have a valid reason for reporting a post and that you can articulate that reason clearly in your report. Keep in mind that frivolous reports clutter the queue and can slow the process down for everyone.
[*]The General Guide and Terms of Service still apply – The above guidelines are not the only rules that we will enforce during E3 week. All of our rules outlined in the Guide and ToS will still apply as usual.
[*]Enjoy E3 – The Electronic Entertainment Expo is an annual celebration of gaming and everyone should have fun during this event!
If you have any questions about these rules, feel free to contact the staff via private message or the contact form at the bottom of the site.

A series of frequently asked questions and answers. The full FAQ is available here. First and foremost though, let's go over some security related matters.

Attendee policy

  • No one under the age of 17 is permitted.
  • Photo ID is required. Entertainment Software Association (ESA), E3 Show Management Dolaher Events, and/or an E3 security officer may require attendees to show ID at any time.
  • The E3 badge is non-transferable and is the property of ESA. E3 badge swapping and/or sharing is strictly prohibited. Any attendee found using another attendee’s badge will have the badge confiscated and will be removed from the premises. The E3 badge must be worn at all times.
  • All registration fees are nonrefundable.
  • Harassment is not acceptable. Cause for removal includes, but is not limited to:
    • Verbal harassment;
    • Intimidation or threats;
    • Physical violence;
    • Stalking; and/or
    • Sexually explicit, suggestive, or provocative behavior.
  • ESA does not tolerate discrimination or abusive treatment in any manner, including, but not limited to, in relation to national origin, ethnicity, gender or gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, marital status, or veteran status.
  • If ESA and/or Dolaher Events determine that an attendee’s attire, including, but not limited to, cosplay, violates E3 policy, then ESA and Dolaher Events reserve the right to require the attendee to change into appropriate attire and/or remove the attendee.
  • If attendees have concerns or issues about their safety, the decorum of other attendees, or other matters, then they should contact a security officer or Dolaher Events (located at West Hall Room 509).
  • No photography, videography, or other recording of the E3 show floors is permitted prior to June 11, 2019 at 11 AM PST.
  • Each attendee assumes all risk and danger in connection with his/her attendance at E3, including, but not limited to, performances and demonstrations at E3, whether occurring prior to, during or after E3, and agrees to release and hold harmless ESA and Dolaher Events in the event of harm incurred in connection with E3.
  • By entering the E3 show, each attendee consents to release any and all rights such attendee may otherwise have to the attendee’s likeness, and to any photographs, recordings, or other images owned or created by ESA, Dolaher Events, any exhibitor personnel, and/or any member of the media. Attendee grants ESA, Dolaher Events, all exhibitors, and media the right, permission, and license to use attendee’s name, voice, image, and likeness, and releases and holds harmless ESA, Dolaher Events, all exhibitors, and media from liability resulting from such use.
  • If an attendee violates this policy, causes any disruption, and/or violates any other E3 rules or policies, then ESA and Dolaher Events reserve the right to remove the attendee, confiscate the badge, and prohibit reentry at future events.
  • The decisions and judgments made regarding potential violations of any E3 policy shall be made in the sole discretion of ESA and are final and cannot be challenged.
See the E3 Weapons Policy for further guidance.

Do you check identification on-site?

All E3 attendees will be required to show a government issued photo ID (driver’s license or passport) in order to pick up their badges and holders on-site to gain access to the event. Do not use a fictitious name. The name on your ID and the name on your badge must be the same. E3 Show Management and/or E3 Security Officers may request attendees show ID at any time.

Is there a shuttle bus service available to the LACC?

Complimentary shuttle bus service is available to all E3 attendees who have booked reservations in the official hotel room block. A shuttle schedule is available at https://www.e3expo.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/E3_19_Shuttle-Schedule.pdf

Where should I park when I arrrive at the LACC?

The Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) has 5,500 parking spaces with easy public access. The parking fee is $25/day. In addition to the LACC parking, there are multiple lots available nearby, including at L.A. Live adjacent to the LACC.

What dining options are available at the LACC?

Concessions schedule and availability are subject to each show. Best is probably to check http://www.discoverlosangeles.com/what-to-do/restaurants for a good guide on LA food culture. That way you can see more of Los Angeles than its Convention Center.

Any particular items I should bring to E3?

I would recommend bringing these items:
  • Deodorant
  • Water Bottle
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Comfortable Shoes

The timetable was already included with credit, but I wanted to link to the source tweet.

I also included a link to a site with live countdowns for many of the major conferences.

Edited to showcase the updated timetable.

Ubisoft is by vestan only. Great thread by the way, almost getting used to your dedication to this.

Can't believe we're already at 2019's E3. This year has gone by so fast. Hoping i can cross off some games from my wishful thinking list.

SWEET thread! Was just about to make a thread to ask this questions, but has Sony mentioned "why" they are skipping this year and if they will have any short-term follow up plans (like a Nintendo direct or another conference)?

Any other offsite stuff besides EA Play in Hollywood? Speaking of that one, does anyone know when they’re going to open the reservation’s up on the app?

Good Shepherd does an indie thing, there's The Mix which is also indie, Black Desert Online doing a fan/press event called Into the Abyss, Devolver's parking lot event, lots of little things around the convention center if you keep your eyes open.

EA Play reservations opened up a few weeks ago.

Stealth edit: I'll be there in a team of four covering news, interviews and previews with Wccftech.com if you'd like another news source.

Thank you for this OT!

It's going to be a weird E3 without Sony but i'm interested to see how Microsoft will respond.

How recently did they ban backpacks? That seems weird.

Are they allowing purses or mesenger bags?

Thanks for this thread!

Hey, I don't think we've had a thread for all the non press-conference live streams going on throughout the week for E3. Starting on Saturday PDT with the EA PLAY stream (no conference, but a hosted stream) and going all the way through Friday PDT. An unprecedented seven days of livestreams!

These are some of the ones I can think of off the top of my head:

(All days PDT)

Saturday
- EA Play (Kinda Funny hosting part of it)
- Giant Bomb (EA Play watch-along)
- Easy Allies (EA Play watch-along)
- Nintendo Super Mario Maker 2 invitational thing, Splatoon and Smash world championships

Sunday
- Youtube at E3 (with conferences)
- Xbox show at night
- Kinda Funny (conferences watch-along and Showcase)
- Giant Bomb (conferences watch-along)
- Easy Allies (conferences watch-along)

Monday
- Youtube at E3 (with conferences)
- Inside Xbox
- Kinda Funny (conferences watch-along)
- Giant Bomb (conferences watch-along)
- Easy Allies (conferences watch-along)
- Easy Allies podcast live at night

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Twitch
- Gamespot
- Nintendo
- Ubisoft
- E3 Coliseum
- Xbox E3 Mixer Dome
- Square Enix (last year Just Cause also had its own stream going)
- Giant Bomb at night
- Easy Allies at night
- Kinda Funny gamescast in the morning

Friday
- Kinda Funny gamescast in the morning
- Easy Allies recap afternoon

E3 without Sony is no real E3 :/

Can’t feel the hype this year. Curious about Microsoft, Nintendo and Square.
