This is just the content that's explicitly advertorial.

You can claim that giving free games away is a EGS strategy to draw users but this has nothing to do with gaming sites reporting on games that are being made free for a limited amount of time. I can't think of a major site that doesn't mention what that new free game is up on EGS and that's because it is in the interest of their readers to know.

If you look at that comparison article you listed they actually are even-handed. Why wouldn't they be?

so... are we now allowed to say that PCGamer doesn't have an neutral stance on the Epic topic?
This has been painfully obvious from the start, but I wonder if the mods here will change their response to these complaints at all.
If I'm not mistaken, people were being banned over suggesting this.

I still dont get the issue of games being exclusives to EGS? I consider it like a netflix vs amazon sort of thing.
Do you mean Netflix vs Amazon Prime video? If so we'll both platforms pay for the production of original content don't they? This would mean content not available anywhere else (which would not apply here because of consoles??). And not all of Netflix's and Prime video is originally content, some stuff can only be streamed there but you can still purchase it else where.

Hm.

I wonder if everyone's favorite publisher Devolver will be in attendance (despite their own thing that I'm not watching this year)?

Won't watch.

If The Outer Worlds going exclusive can't make me install EGS, none of this will either.

I mean sure they are sponsoring it but should it even be called the PC Gaming Show rather than the Epic Games Store Gaming Show because I can't imagine it being anything else.
I wouldn't have(as much) of a problem with Valve or GOG doing this and calling it a PC Gaming Show because 90% of their content is released on other stores without restrictions.

Would love to be surprised though if this is an unbiased show and not just an advert for EGS.
How would a PC Gaming Show done in the Valve style even work? Everyone that paid $100 can show a trailer?

Yeah, I'd love to hear about the "not villifying medias" on this one. What's the stance on a publication show being sponsored by one actor that they always seems to have been supportive of ? :)

I hope Valve wins this war.

I hope that PC gamers win this war. If Steam, GoG or any other is on their side, good for them.

Right now and as this was discussed to death on many relevant threads, it seems to me that EGS offers very little to the consumer as long as they continue to imprison games and developers to their unfinished marketplace.
I wish it could be as simple as just another launcher like Origin or the Bethesda one but it is not.

Thank god Croteam and Oddworld Inhabitants isn't on that list of developers. Serious Sam 4 and Soulstorm are still safe from EGS bullshit.

SS4 not being able to be a part of Serious Sam Fusion because it jumped ship to another platform would be genuinely very annoying. But I think they'll hold steady. They turned down Facebook money to delay Serious Sam The Last Hope and make it an Oculus timed exclusive after all.

This is a Trump level of news, where the ridiculous situation everyone was making up in the go ended up being reality. As it is I already avoid most of E3 due to the annoying advertisement speak, now they take the PC gaming show from me too, lol. Also Digital Extremes?? Hope they are just there as part of the show overall and not some dumbass EGS exclusivity, it would mean killing Tennogen and the compatibility with Steam inventory items, effectively hitting Fashionframe and pissing off... pretty much everyone.

They better be picky with their crowd, the boos might drown out the paid exclusive announcements.

Eh, we are all expecting it to happen anyway. I am sure there will be some people upset, but I expect most comments to be something like "well, we all knew it was gonna happen."

For me, I started to dislike exclusives on EGS when they took Ashen away at the last minute. I was gonna play that on PC through my Game Pass sub (I don't own a Xbox), but at the last second it became an EGS exclusive. Also, when games go exclusive to EGS, the average price for the game goes up. Like you said, there are plenty of launchers, and also plenty of third party key sellers on PC. I can't remember the last time I paid $60 for a game at launch thanks to key sellers. Then there is passing the payment processing fees onto consumers outside of the US, making games even more expensive for those folks.

As it's been stated MULTIPLE times by the PC gaming community, it isn't just another launcher. We all use so many different launchers for our games. But there are issues with EGS, and PC gamers don't want to support it. That's the other thing I don't get. Why do other people care so much that certain PC gamers don't want to support Epic? We all have our reasons on why we spend or don't spend money with certain companies. But now when PC gamers don't wanna support Epic, we're whiny and entitled (not your words, but I've seen that used before).

This is just depressing. Like you said "it's been stated MULTIPLE times by the PC gaming community". You have to explain them OVER OVER OVER and OVER why EGS is pathetic and not just another launcher (because pc gamers have no issue with Origin, Uplay etc, but with this crap? Oh yes, they have)
I'm not pc gamer anymore but I feel you.

I expect japanese games on EGS this time, maybe even KH3 on it.
Well seeing how for a long time even Japanese dev were not really on board for PC gaming, I have doubts, especially when for some JRPG the most you might get is closer to 200k than 1 million copies sold on PC.

Didn't Epic say something about checking the quality of the game before having it sold on the EGS? And well SE doesn't have the best track record when it comes to PC ports.

I do hope that EGS does not try to get Japanese games (since those are what I play) but if they could convince ATLUS/Vanillaware to release stuff on there that would be a different story

And there goes my hype. Have almost no interest in EGS exclusives unless it's something really insane like Bloodborne that otherwise couldn't happen on PC.

Nothing to see here. Just consume like a good little consumer. It's just another launcher

Yeah I do have trust in Croteam not to gimp Serious Sam 4 by making it an EGS. Gamepad support, VR support, Mac and Luinx support, Steam worksop, and Fusion are all too important to abandon.

I must admit I am interested to see how the EGS announcements will play out in front of an actual crowd.

If they're smart they will pull a Borderlands 3 and announce the EGS exclusivity after the show. That or they will vet the crowd so only hard-core Fortnite fans and EGS-trolls from Era are allowed in.

lol do you seriously expect a gaming publication not to publicize somebody giving out free games
