Is wiiu level in Europe and Japan so it’s not that hard to believe.
Wii U level in Japan are 3 millions. Xbox One has sold until now 90k in 4 years. One of the worst hardware console sales in 4 years ever there.
Many consoles were discounted with better sales in a shorter period of time.

It's weird because EA said the installed base at the end of calendar 2016 was 79 million. Now they say the installed base is 103 million at the end of 2017.

So if we look at the numbers Sony provided.
PS4 was at 53.4m at the end of 2016. That would put Xbox One around ~25.6m.
PS4 was 73.6m at the end of 2017. That would put Xbox One around ~29.4m

So EA is estimating that Xbox One sold around 3.8m units in 2017. But the Xbox One sold more than that in the US alone.

So the numbers don't add up. Perhaps they're excluding some territory or maybe Pro/OneX?

As I stated in prior threads, the Xbox One installed base is over 35 million globally.

And we're done here. Won't stop the concern trolling, though.

Stop mixing EA estimates with offical Ps4 Sony numbers as a true part.
That will give the total error margin of the combined installbase just to the Xbox One part.
And then you'll get a result of EAs estimate being well below the actual US only sell through.

There was also a time when EA and Activision talking about WW installbase didn't include Japan, because they didn't publish their games there.

Riiiiiiiiight. So they're wrong in 2016, but right in 2017.

Ok. Sure. They're either both wrong, or both right. Their method would be the same.
I think it’s reasonable to think these latest numbers are to low, but it’s entirely possible there is some sort of discrepancy in one of the numbers and not both. As Zhuge mentioned, maybe they aren’t factoring in the Xbox One X. IDK, but I do think it’s possible that one of the numbers are incorrect and one is correct.

Jesus Christ. Xbox One sales seem kinda... Like very low. I was expecting at WORST 45 million units.

Am I missing something here?
45 mln looks way too high.

35-38 mln is what i was expecting cause i remember even last year here a lot of people here saying how "there is no problem, everything is fine" and yet One X did fine but never been the first console in US for a single month, and i know in EU they are doing bad lately (not to mention Asian markets) based on Switch sales.

In France / Spain Switch already outsold Xbox One or close to it, even in UK you can see how multiplatform games like FIFA sold more on Switch than XB1 despite dealing with limitations.

Not sure if EA numbers are accurate but i think people here were expecting Xbox One to be on track with PS4 and it's nowhere near that.

But again, these are all assumptions, EA numbers are more credible than me or even leakers.

Taking into account the 59 million xbox live users. lets say 10-15 million of those aren't on xbox and are through mobile and PC and surface pros etc. That leaves around 40-45 million potential xbox one users. Which is a number id probably more closely believe.

CBOAT provided some nice leaks. He just messed up at the end with the whole Titanfall situation.

Jeez.....forget PS4 sales numbers, forget Xbox One sales numbers and forget Switch sales numbers.

The bigger more important question is -

Why the hell is anyone listening to EA????? LMAO.

In Dragon Age Inquisition MP (which I was hooked on, PC) there were weekly community challenge for Xbox, PC, and PS4. The PS4 players had to do around double of what the PC and Xbox players goals were every time. This was a long time ago, and I can only imagine the gap widening. Dragon Age Inquisition also had Xbox promotion and EA Access.

So yeah, if there's no way for PC players to pick between Xbox or PS4, like Fortnite but shared pool instead of invite only, at least do PS4 + PC. XBOX + Switch + PC would need Switch users to very interested in the games to make up for not just going PS4 + PC.

Anyway how would EA know the exact numbers? Not every Xbox owner buy a EA game and link their console to EA somehow.

It's not anywhere near 45.

I doubt it's even near 40.

But 33-35 sounds about right. 29.5 is just...no way. As Zhuge said, based on EA's numbers, Xbox would have to have sold 3.8m in 2017 and he already said they sold 4 or more in the US alone lol.

Users isn’t the same as consoles sold, you can have more than one user on a console.

And even with that factored in, they are still only estimates. We won't know for sure unless Microsoft decides to announce them, which still seems unlikely.. unless enough of these articles might cause them to come out and spill the beans in their defence ;)

The install base EA cares about is related to the potential number of game sales, not the number of consoles sold. Many people own more than one XBox or PS4, or own both a PS4 and an Xbox, but those households only count for one potential game sale. Perhaps their estimated install base number is households and not units sold?

This is very unrealistic. The system doesn't sell well anywhere but the US and maybe the UK. And even then the numbers aren't that big for 40M. Just assume 35M~

XB1 is <50% of PS4 sales. No way would it be at 40-45

Xbox One sales in Europe are terrible, but the Japanese numbers cross into the realm of total humiliation. I guess that Microsoft feel that they have to keep trying to sell it there in order to try and combat the problem of the PS4's defacto Japanese exclusives, but seeing weekly unit sales that can be as low as TWO DIGITS must be soul destroying.

...you’re going to believe Bish over Zhuge, a trusted and verified source?

Ahah.

Ahahahahahahahahah.

Please tell me you’re joking.
I don't know Zhuge. I haven't seen that person's post in this thread yet. I'll look for it, thanks.

Edit: Saw the post, I did read that one. I'm still thinking the Xbox One may be around 35mil so even after reading it, nothing seems drastically different to me. PS4 maybe around 72mil is still at the half mark.

-------
I would have expected Xbox One would be doing better by now. Did the Xbox One X help any?

Not possible. We have NPD numbers and we know that US contributes 60%+ of Xbox ww sales. We also know that sales are bad in the other big markets - Japan, Germany, France, Spain, etc. So unless Xbox did 5m in Mexico, 3m in Brazil and so on 32-37m is where it's at.

Neither has official numbers, so neither is wrong or right or "confirmed" anything. You can pick whose estimate you prefer to believe.

Because that's what they are, estimates.
I don't think it's as simple as saying pick whose estimate you prefer to believe. No. Who is more likely to be more accurate? Ask that instead

If this is true it paints a bleak picture for MS. Would explain why MS don’t announce sales figures though I guess.

What they did in E3 2013 will follow them forever unfortunately. Much like apple removing the headphone jack. They alienated a lot of users with that.
