It feels like I bought (and played) the first episode of KRZ about ten years ago. I think I maybe should go back to it this year.

Surprised that Arise would score so high. I can't think of a single impression I've seen where the response wasn't underwhelming.

Edit: I am an idiot, it is The Room, a series of puzzle games I love, but not A Dark Room LOL

Glad to see such a high score for KRZ. I really need to get back to it, but Yakuza 7 has practically stolen my life at this point!
Super solid score for King of Cards as well :)

Personally quite surprised by Arise scoring that high as I found the platforming part of it quite dire.

Anyone else got theirs in the post? Because the cover and back pages feel very rubbery, they've possibly changed the material of the paper slightly too.

Very strange score for Darwin Project tbh

Yeah I gave it a go, I like the attempt to push the BR genre forward but the design felt too undeveloped, eg not really seeing the point of the traps, smoke bombs too powerful, the director nuke seems a bit OP. Also no progression system its all bare bones. And the classes seem a bit unbalanced.

Makes me dream of a Manhunt BR. Would love it if Rockstar took some notes and used some of these ideas for it.

King of Cards gets a well deserved 8.
Yacht Club finishes what is probably the best free DLC of all time?
Spectre of Torment and King of Cards are effectively entire new games, great games, that are imo superior to the original campaign

Yeah, I think Darksiders Genesis is a better game than Arise. Arise is a gorgeous game and a neat, if predictable, little tale and I still think it's worth a look if you're into those games but the platforming is not good. The camera perspective often makes it impossible to judge distances or where you actually are in a space. The movement feels fairly sluggish and imprecise as well. It doesn't break the experience but it definitely drags it down, especially during those sequences where the game demands more than what the tools it gives you allow for.

Darksiders on the other hand is a return to form after DS3 which I really did not care for. It's essentially a full fledged Darksiders game with an isometric perspective. Combat feels good, light platforming breaks up the action, puzzles are fun to solve and exploring the levels feels rewarding. One of my positive surprises of last year. It certainly doesn't break new ground but then again neither does Arise.

I thought Darksiders 3 was much better than Genesis. Genesis is a fun game, especially in co-op, but it definitely feels more like a spin-off to me than a "real" Darksiders game. Plus, it is buggy as hell even after the first patch. A 6 seems a little too harsh though, we can agree on that.

Honestly really nice to see such a good score for Darwin Project. I've played a load of it throughout Early Access and think it's really great and is doing interesting things in the genre. Wasn't aware that the full release was around the corner or anything. Maybe time to jump back in!

Every time I read about how Kentcky route zero plays, I think that this game is not for me. But it's receiving so much praise that I keep on wondering if I'm not missing on something...

I remember Kentucky Route Zero from years ago. I always said I'd wait for the whole thing to come out before I played so it's time now.

I can't read their reasoning, but a 6/10 for Darksiders Genesis is criminally low. It is one of the most genuinely fun, polished and overall amazing games I played last year. It's one of the best arcade adventure game I've played in a long time. The art is great, animation is stellar, the levels are good and the music is <3

What got their critical panties in a bunch?

While playing Darksiders Genesis I was actually thinking "This is a game like those Blizzard used to make back in the day - pre WoW" It's that good.

Have to agree on that Darksiders score. Game really disappoints me. Gameplay feels off, camera is complete ass and it's very buggy.

Sega AM2 next month you say? Might have to actually buy a magazine for the first time in years.
