I am so hyped for this game. Redubbed to Plus just so I can play online with my old roommate.

TBH i never got great at Spelunky but i played it a ton. This is one of my most hyped game releases this year.

Anyone else subbed digitally to Edge? Never know exactly when the newest issue becomes available. Tried digging around last issue but found nothing.

Interested to seeing what they say about Spiritfarer. Just a delightful game with some very real emotional beats to it.

Looking forward to what's detailed in that 'funny games' section.

I could do with something like a Grim Fandango in my life...

I'm ready to put 300+ hours into Spelunky 2. This is one lovely cover art!
9 or 10 from EDGE for this game is given.

It is great seeing "indie" games like Spelunky be able to be featured on the cover of Edge. The industry has come a long way in terms of what constitutes a big release or what deserves a cover spot.

Spelunky is one of my least favorite rogue lite-like-lites but hopefully 2 is quite a bit better.

Interested to see scores for BPM - the IGN footage from a while back looked like great fun.

Reviews don't often get an Edge cover nowadays because they're published weeks/months after the games have come out. The recent 'world exclusive' ones that come to mind are the 10s for BOTW and Mario Odyssey.

Spelunky 2 must be a 9. Or...

I think they did a cover feature for Half Life Alyx too but I don't know if it was during its launch or not.

That's quite a bit lower than I expected for Spiritfarer, interested to read their thoughts as I thought it'd be a game Edge would have gelled with.

They've got a final build for Hades? Is it coming in September? 👀

I need this..

It's probably also a 9/10 in my book. Succeeds in every aspect. Some minor stuff here and there, but a must play regardless.

A 9 from them is high praise.

Spelunky 2 could easily be my GOTY. I'm so damn excited for it. I never thought it would get a direct sequel.

A 4 for Battletoads... Oh well, at least there's a cool pause menu.

I thought Battletoads was quite a decent Game Pass game in that Microsoft must have told the team 'just do what you want, 90% of those who play it won't spend more than 20 minutes with it anyway'.

Derek Yu stays winning. Really excited to see all new additions to the perfect Spelunky formula.
btw It's super weird Spelunky 2 still don't have page on ps store and is coming in one week. Kinda understand why indies do super poorly on ps4.

I didn't even know about Hades or that Supergiant had a new game out at all!

edit: And it's been in early access all year? 😂 I'll just return to my rock.

It's really supergiants best game they've ever worked on.

It's definitely the best playing game they've made so far — for my tastes anyway. It'll be interesting to see if they can top Transistor's beautiful ending. The voice performances are already up there. I don't think it'll be able to fully match how intimate that narrative felt, and Hades' general mood is quite different, but it's really strong work given how many voiced characters there are in this. There is not a single bad performance in there. The writing is also very fun and captures the reference material surprisingly well. I'm sure you know all this, but I need an outlet to gush about Hades 😸
