So they haven't gone for an overall GotY? Quite liking that choice actually.

Great to see some recognition for the itch.io bundle as well.

Horace is really old, and it's odd that they're only reviewing it now, but it's wonderful!

There's also a weird hint at the start of the magazine that their are hidden things within the mag - mention messages everywhere, lyrics from songs that will tell the whole story, acrostics in letters, things hidden in the flannel panel ( I think that is their writing credits)

On the Edge awards first page their are some odd dots as well - very strange. Jeremy they tend to do a reviews round up at this time of year of things they might have missed over the year

I think they use this issue each year to review games they may have missed. Pretty sure last January issue they review Plague Tale: Innocence and Pathologic 2 despite being out for months.

It came out mid-2019 though...

I think it is because the Switch version just released in October, 2020.

Ugh, forgot that one of the Goodbye Volcano High writers posted child porn on Kotaku...

Did that controversy ever shake out? Is the writer involved still affiliated with the game or making money based off of it?

A 4 for Haven is way too low! I wonder if the reviewer mainly played solo... I played it co-op with my partner, and we both loved it. The gameplay is very light, but flows well once you get in the groove, the presentation is fantastic, and the music is amazing.

Love those award categories, lol.

Ah, the usual and predictable Era reactions to the scores incoming, I see. How long until the worn-out "that's edgy!" comment?

Remove the bugs and glitches from the game, and I would say Cyberpunk is the most "7/10" game I have ever played. It's basically just another RPG, and does nothing unique or revolutionary. I can't think of one thing in cyberpunk that other RPGs would take (unlike The Witcher 3).

The "Dialog with multiple people at once UI" was good and I don°t think I've seen it anywhere before.

I think we could be incubated from a lot of the usual reactions this time as game names aren't part of the thread title - less CDPR, Nintendo and 13 Sentinels stans seeking out and ready to get defensive about certain titles

I didn't think Call of the Sea was great, but seeing it score lower than cyberpunk still stings a little

7/10 was the impression I got from people played PC version so.. I think I'll finally find out myself how the game is in 2025 lol.

Given it's the current editors' last issue, some sort of goodbye?

I think I'm about here.

Watchdogs Legion is a far better game, in my opinion, for a cyber/hacking based future game.

Better stealth, much better combat, intuitive hacking. The writing is decent, with bagley a standout. The driving is better as well. Oh, and it does not have my pet hate... A stupid wobbly mouse cursor in menus ON A CONSOLE game.

Cyberpunk on XSX occasionally looks great, but the enemy animations are jank, the hacking not very interesting. 15hrs in I still don't know what Breach Protocol is meant to do. Weapon inventory management is clunky. Combat basically involves charging at enemies and repeatedly mashing the trigger when holding a sword. Driving is poor.

People defend Cyberpunk by saying its not MEANT to be a sandbox so CPR haven't focused on AI and the mechanics side, but the mechanics ARE the actions you always take in a game (combat, driving, traversal) and they don't feel great.

That said, I love the world building and wandering about. Everything apart from the actual main missions is enjoyable to me.

But Legion is a much better game.

I don't usually say this especially because Edge have their own grades but CP2077 that high? Even on PC it has tons of issues and flaws. One of the most obvious flaws is the ai which is pretty much non existent. '

Good award for Paper Mario.

And I need to really play Paradise Killer already. Have it installed on my Switch.
