Is that Scarlet and Violet getting a 7? Surprising they're being so forgiving.

Nintendo as publisher of the year is interesting - is there much around how they came to that decision?

Probably amount of notable 80+ metacriticgames they published this year like splatoon 3, bayo 3, xenoblade 3, pokemon legends Arceus, Kirby forgotten lands, fire emblem 3 hopes, not to mention Nintendo also published square enix stuff in us and Europe like Live a Live, triangle strategy this year

If Ragnarok isn't even on your list you're basically not a credible publication. Unbelievable that Edge would do this, insulting some might say. Its objectively one of the most impressive games of the year, if not of all time, and the reviews from other critics are overwhelmingly positive, so it doesn't make sense that Edge would leave it off of their personal list of games. These lists are lists of best games and therefore should be objective. /s

Damn a 7 for Pokemon SV is a high score for Edge. The most earned 7 of all time though

Kinda surprised to not see Citizen Sleeper on the goty list if it got Immortality and Pentiment so high. Did Edge not like the game very much?

I couldn't get into poinpy the way other people seem to have (or the same way I got into downfall). I think I just got too mad at how bad I am at the game lol

I didn't know this game existed, so I looked it up after seeing this list and my immediate thought was "This is one of those games that's probably really fucking good but I'm never going to like because I'll suck at it".

Damn, they really like immortality.
Like they probably wanted to put it #1 but figured making Elden Ring #2 and not featuring ragnarok in the top 10 would provoke too much gamer ire.

This is the one thing I've noticed with regards to Pokémon. The technical issues have basically become a meme yet the impression from most people is that it's one of the best games in the series. I'm actually really keen to try it out

5 seems generous for The Callisto Protocol. I've never refunded anything so fast.

I really enjoyed Evil West on PC. It's a lot of fun to play. 7 is a fitting score though, it's well above average but lacks the final something to push it into great.

Elden Ring is probably my GOTY as well.

I think even if it ran perfectly there are some notable issues with the content, but it's a game where you can tell they really swung for the fences and brought a lot of cool stuff to the series, while also being a huuuuuuuge improvement from SWSH, which were the worst core games in the series IMO. It could have been truly fantastic with another year in development.

So yeah, a 7 seems right.

Immortality GOTY?

Well, I can't say EDGE and I share the same opinion about games. I thought Immortality was a crowning achievement in FMV... whose story was one of the most heartbreaking disappointments in years. I had such high hopes for it based on what the pre-release marketing had been, only to discover what it really is about. I'm sure others loved it, and that's great, but I haven't done such a massive 180 for game in a long, long time.

As for Pokémon getting a 7... Yeah, well. That's fine. We don't have to agree.

Loved Her Story but I was frustrated yet understanding that i couldn't get a read on Immortality and people's impressions because of the games very nature being spoilerific.

Still haven't got it but might wait it out. Happy to see it spread out onto other platforms like Netflix though.
