What's the over-under on this being a horrorish take on western fantasy?
it's miyazaki with GRRM trimmings. i think you know the answer...
as for balls to the wall "horror" a la Bloodborne i guess that's a question

sounds too open ended to really stick with one particular style/motif. but i'm sure once you see it's like "yuuup, that's a From game"

Bamco may or may not have invited some Souls streamers to an event. Possible that we'll maybe get some more info out of it if they were shown behind the scenes gameplay but the public reveal is CG only. That's assuming From/Bamco is showing more of the game to press and insiders; could be they are getting the same reveal as up but earlier.I hope we see more than just a bullshit teaser like we did for Sekiro for the first time that had people guessing wtf is going on for a year.
Watched Bloodborne and Dark Souls III CG trailers. They are so well done. Cant wait to see Elden Rings trailer.
ask sony
Its not really that odd a combinations at all. FROM games have some of the best Lore and World Building in the industry. The mysteries and prophecies and backstory is very much similar to GRRM's ASOIAF. From excels in that area so it makes sense to have GRRM on to bolster that aspect even further and on the off chance he did a bit more than consulting, Miyazaki and the writing team could get tips for narrative and character interactions. I don't think their storytelling is bad, but it's definitely a more lore focused approach than something like The Witcher.I don't care about any of the souls games etc, how are the stories/characters in these games? Seems like an odd combination (George working with a studio that's not good at story telling or characters)

Most def. Which is why I think its more likely they brought him on for the lore and backstory bits because that sort of in depth character exploration would be so so different to what From usually do.From and GRRM definitely have similar perspectives on how to tackle dark fantasy, different mediums aside. It's going to be interesting to see how Martin will adapt to the medium though since he's at his best when writing in-depth, complicated character studies and unpredictable plotting in addition to lore and world building. I have no idea how you bring that style of writing to a video game, especially one that's as gameplay-heavy as Fromsoft titles tend to be.

You mean just like most of their previous games since Demon's? That game was extremely influenced by King's Field, which was a Japanese developer's take on a Western RPG.
It's like in one of those superhero movies you guys love so much! /s

Alas.Gwyn, please it be more than some frustratingly vague cinematic.
I'm not sure how I feel about that CG trailer but "generic" is not what I would call it and if we call this generic then the word has officially lost all meaning
imagine typing this
