Well I got in so yay? I did a couple quests but so far not sure why I'd play this instead of Skyrim or something else. Maybe I'm not the target market.

Been playing since the download came out for iOS. Very pleased so far. It's a fun quick-dungeon game.

Anyone know if we can sell/dismantle equipment?

As I have learned from the blades Reddit page, apparently we also needed to register on Bethesda's page PlayBlades.com to get access.

I was in the same boat as you. Just registered on their site yesterday.

Just checking in to ask if anyone else has recently received access? I feel like they will approve new accounts in waves.

Up to level 5 or so. Reasonably fun although the quests/enemies seem really samey so far. Hoping to see a few more interesting environments and challenges. The timers seem a bit long but after "playing" a bunch of Idle Champions I can be pretty patient.

It's wrapped up with buying things, the first option at the forge. Check the bottom of the screen when you go into the buy menu.
The menu's need work. Like how you can't see how much of a material you have when you buy it.

Wow, it's there! Thanks! I should have looked deeper but hopefully the options will get sorted with future updates.

Yeah, it was laid out a bit differently than I remembered. My phone isn't near me or I would have checked to confirm. Sorry!

Performance on my XS Maxniant as good as I was hoping, and the graphics while solid don't seem THAT good that it should run at a smoother frame rate.

The game itself I finally got access to yesterday and after doing the first main mission and getting a little into the town building stuff, I don't think I'll be putting too much time into this.

Combat seems fine, but pretty basic, at least so far (I'm sure it can get a little more engaging with more abilities, but I'm not sure how much more).
I feel like the movement isn't done very well though. I was playing the Witness on iOS and while I didn't like "tap to walk" controls much in general, in that game it was smooth and easy to do. In Blades it feels kinda clunky, especially in horizontal mode where it's harder to see the ground.

But the biggest problem I see is the F2P stuff. It's not bad yet, but I've played enough F2P mobile games to know that after a few hours progress will hit a wall that will either require grinding for materials/loot, or waiting on timers that take hours/days to complete (or spend money on gems to make it go faster).

I never played much of the Infinity Blade games, but I think I'm going to resownload the first one and give that more of a try, since Blades did get me in the mood for an action fantasy type mobile game.

Every time I play this, I keep thinking how much better it would be with an actual controller. The virtual d-pads or the touch to move is just not very fun after a while.

The game looks decent and has a lot of depth in the character building (or so it seems), just not sure if I can continue on with how you have to move around in the world.

It's good fun from what I've played so far... BUT, I'm probably not the target market. I mean, every minute I played I was thinking, "why am I not just loading up Skyrim in Switch?" in a post Skyrim switch world this feels fairly primitive.

Having said that, for people that love elder Scrolls but don't own switches I could see it being a good fun time killer on trains and planes etc.

Stopped playing after dealing with the awful controls, awful chest timers and the fact the game isn't open world. Wtf is the point of a non open world Elder Scrolls.

Idiotic.

I would try to tolerate the poor controls and timers if it were an actual open world exploitable and emergent Elder Scrolls for mobile.

But it isn't.

Did you expect a mobile ES game to be on the level of Skyrim ? It never was going to be

I surprisingly adjusted to the virtual analog stick movement pretty quickly, so that was nice but unfortunately I hate the combat and the game in general is just really underwhelming. It's an incredibly shallow experience. It's an Elder Scrolls skinned loot box slot machine.

It's really disappointing (and borderline criminal IMO) how so many free/mobile games exist only as money extraction software. It's not Bethesda's fault that they want to operate in this space since I'm sure games like this actually print money due to gullible people with expendable income, but even as someone who has played many mobile gacha games, past and presently, I fucking loathe this business model in gaming and want it to go away. Belgium passed laws that made these types of games illegal in their country and the ones that I play simply just ceased operations in Belgium rather than fix their predatory games. But Belgium is in the right here. More countries need to follow their example and abolish this type of gaming. I don't know why it has been considered acceptable for so long.

When my iPhone XR is more powerful than my Switch and my Switch plays Skyrim effortlessly, yes I did expect it to be at the same level.

Mobile games are not made for the most powerful phone on the market, it has to support a large amount of devices, usually with far lower specs and also take into considerations memory and storage limitations as well.

You're expectations were pretty out there

Ya, and with plenty of exceptions out there, a "game made for mobile" is generally about daily things to do, quick battles, while still scratching the itch of collecting, story, leveling up, etc.

I have to think you're not serious if you expected TES VI with ES Blades.

The Switch Tegra is an almost 5 year old phone/tablet chip. That's basically an iPhone 6/7 and that's fairly far back.

So no.

The combat gets a bit more engaging later on, when you get to the point where enemies have the kinds of skills you do. I dunno, after a while it starts to feel good. It's definitely not made for one-handed play though, even in portrait.

One thing that annoys me is how progressing through the story feels like it's tied to the equipment gotten through the better chests. You can make gear, but it's blatantly obvious that things get tough faster than you can upgrade your smithy to make gear to catch up, and getting it from a chest cuts out a lot of time that'd be spent on upgrading your town.

Skyrim on the switch is 14GB in size. I don't see a lot of people devoting that much storage to a single game on their phones. Especially considering most people opt for the 32GB lowest storage option (was the usual go-to up to the iphone 7!).

Also, monetizing Skryim would not be optimal. Anything other than charging a single price would induce outrage, and you can't charge $40-60 for a phone game (especially on android).

Who do you switch to Landscape? Does not seem to do it automatically and I do not see any options in the settings menu

edit: nvm my phone was locked in portrait for some reason

Just saying that an open world Elder Scrolls game is possible. Doesn't need to be as huge as Skyrim but anything would be better than these small linear levels.

This is a pretty major flaw with the game honestly. Progression isn't really tied to actual mission progress. Even your level seems pretty meaningless. The most important progression in the game is via timers. Timed chest unlocks. Timed town upgrades. Timed equipment tempering. The design of the progression is just so so bad

I got in a couple of hours ago. It's like Skyrim, but better. Just needs a casino you can build so you can play slot machines and stuff.

I've yet to get a notification that I could get on. On iPhone. I downloaded it, or Atherton my phone did on its own, the very first hour it was available and still haven't played it yet 😑 anyone else having notification issues and what's the solution there? I've checked and mine are all set to show up, not turned off etc

I've gotten them easier with faster dps weapons. I wait until line hits the edge of the circle, hit the enemy and then do the same thing again. Never got them on my slower weapons.

Yeah I have no idea how they intended combos to work maybe I'm just lucking out on them?
Yeah they don't explain it at all so I was wondering if I was missing something. I did the same thing as you but I'm using slow axes and maces so the window is really wide between attacks

It's possible even with slow weapons. Just alternate between 2 fingers (playing landscape mode) and start charging up one attack immediately after you let go with the other. For higher combos (like 4x or 5x) it helps if the weapon is lower damage like 1 handed weapons cause usually a 2 handed weapon will kill anything in 2 or 3 hits

It's alright so far but I only play it when near a charger because it drains the battery real fast. The chest timers are manageable, be sure not to open silver chests when playing so you can open all wooden ones during quests. Once you're done playing open a silver one before quit and then a golden one before sleep. Chest inventory slots are quite cheap and you get gems for them reasonably fast.

I haven't played-played yet, just did the very beginning.

So I made my character and I need to go to my first dungeon, but I just haven't given the time to it yet.

Question: Is there anything else I should be doing daily (that I'm missing out on right now) besides the daily free chest in the store?

From the time played.. Here's what I think... P2W with awful controls.

I'll give it a few more months in the oven to try it again tbh
